Catbird inspires devoted reviews for its delicate, distinctive designs that wear beautifully day to day, but mixed feedback confirms the brand is not uniformly reliable. Reviewers praise dainty pieces like the Chime Earring and collaborations (e.g., Jenny Slate), ethical sourcing, custom engraving, and permanent bracelets, while noting fragility in ultra-thin rings, inconsistent sizing, and intricate charms running too small; a few report breakage and disappointment with certain lines and engagement pieces.

  • The Catbird Chime Earring is so dainty and cute! It was a fun little splurge purchase! The movement of the piece and the dangle length are perfect to add character to my earring stack. It’s been my go-to for messy buns lately, and it has not gotten tangled in my hair. Creating my own daily joy moments with the Chime Earring = catching all the unexpected light and abundance of L.A. sunshine we’ve been having in this winter heatwave!

  • I’m a big fan of Catbird. I have heard it’s overpriced and that may be true in terms of gold/silver price, but the design of the pieces is what motivates me to keep coming back. Their collaborations are amazing too.

  • Gorgeous, dainty pieces. The rings are thinner than other brands at the same price point but I do find their jewels to be of high quality. Sizing can vary amongst styles so if you’re in between sizes be aware.

  • Catbird jewelry is perfect in that it’s easy/simple enough to wear daily, but it’s also unique enough that people stop you to ask you where it’s from. I love the spinning heart charm I got from their collaboration with Jenny Slate. I’ve worn it every day for a year and imagine I’ll continue to wear it for years to come.

  • I love Catbird. They have the most beautiful, dainty, feminine jewelry that’s perfect for every day wear, special occasions, and they even have some gorgeous wedding rings! They also offer custom engravings on lots of their products and showcase indie jewelry designers that I otherwise would’ve never been able to discover on my own. They’re loud and proud about their efforts to source their jewelry ethically and pay their jewelers well, from what I’ve heard. I find the jewelry to be great quality and love every single piece I own. They were also to my knowledge, the first to offer permanent bracelets. My best friend and I got matching ones when we visited their store in SoHo and it’s something I get to look at every day and cherish!

  • I love all my Catbird stuff!!! My absolute number one go-to for my own jewelry as well as gifts. Updated my review in the comments*** As with many companies, I think growth has been detrimental to their quality. I still wear my Catbird pieces, but I’m honestly on the lookout for new brands or good vintage pieces because I’ve had three pieces break on me. The Little Disco line is so crap! Very cute but has no longevity.

Obsessed. I have several pieces from Catbird. My only teeny, tiny complaint is when I visited the Williamsburg location for my forever bracelet appointment, the wait was atrocious—even with an appointment! Also a long wait at the cash register and the sales associate that helped me check in for my appointment seemed to be annoyed/unhappy. It made me uncomfortable like I was inconveniencing her by coming to the store to drop hundreds of dollars. :/ However, every other person I encountered was very friendly and I’ve contacted support online for various reasons a couple of times and always receive great service!! Timely, kind, and helpful. Not to mention, the store is so freaking cute!

  • Welp. So. Ok... I have several Catbird pieces that I love and wear everyday. I've had good experiences at their Williamsburg shop, and opening an online order is like an event thanks to the beautiful packaging and 'bits' thrown in. I love that the gold is recycled, as are the majority of their diamonds, and the remainder are sustainably sourced (which is a LITTLE vague, but I get what they're trying to say). This is where I get a liiitttle bummed out. They're website doesn't have some basic information on it. Like how wide a band is on a $3,000+ engagement ring, how when you email or call them the customer service human ALSO has no idea, and here's my main issue currently...how a $1,350 engagement ring should absolutely last longer than FOUR MONTHS, especially if you have done absolutely nothing that could have caused the thing to quite literally crumble. My now husband was insane and actually got me a BEAUTIFUL Odile The Swan black diamond Catbird engagement ring a bit after our technical engagement (we're not wealthy humans. We're practical, and THAT much money is a lot for us). I had been coveting it. I loved it. I HAD to have it one day. Owning this ring has been an absolute nightmare 🤣 The TINY 1mm band is totally impractical for a piece of jewelry that on theory is supposed to be "heirloom quality" (direct quote) and last a lifetime. And their ethically sourced black diamonds...well...perhaps I got a dud? The band nearly immediately bent at the setting due to it absolutely not being thick enough for it. It recently totally snapped like a twig. I had it repaired by a local jewler (because their warranty is crap), and they even made the band thicker and sturdier for me. Yay! NO. A DAY later...I kid you not...a CHUNK of the diamond on the side just FLEW OUT, and a huge crack formed on the opposite side. The hell!? This should absolutely not be a thing. My husband and I are both super bummed, and don't have the money to have it repaired if that's even really possible. A waste of money just sitting in its box. Such. A. Bummer. We decided to get a stupid inexpensive moissanite ring from an etsy seller that I like (I don't love it. It definitely doesn't have that slightly spooky Catbird vibe, but it's very simple and classic) to see if I'm just a total BEAST to my rings or what. I have a labradorite ring that I've worn every day for several years that hasn't even chipped...so THIS shit...this is just...BANANAS. A message for Catbird: MAKE YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING JEWLERY BETTER. Thank you.

  • I saw Capricorn pendant (Tiniest Zodiac Charm) on the web and loved its shape and details on the picture. However, in real life the item is so tiny that no details can be seen and it is hard to even make out what it is. Not reasonable size for an intricate item.

  • Really enjoy this brand and visiting their store in Williamsburg. Great for myself and gifts - especially small customized things.

  • I love Catbird! Their styles are so unique and beautiful and you can truly find something for everyone on their site.

Jewelry is a bit pricey relative to competitors.

  • I love Catbird a little too much. If you are someone who loves gold and sparkles, this is the brand for you. Catbird has a good selection of jewelry, ranging in price and design. I have many pieces from Catbird, some that I wear almost everyday (3 delicate rings!!). These pieces are holding up well! They also have yearly sales so there is always a chance to save on that sparkly piece you've been eyeing. I love how Catbird sells pieces from other brands. They have helped introduce me to other jewelers. If you ever have a chance to go into their store, DO IT. It's a magical space.

  • I have bought multiple pieces from this brand for about 10 years now and I love everything. I have visited in person and they would be my immediate go to brand to add something to my collection. Besides their own pieces I love browsing the smaller brands they offer in the home goods section.

  • I love my catbird ring! It came very quickly and with a ton of goodies like a little flower pin and a nice pen, a crossword and instructions on how to care for the ring AND a ring measuring tool. The ring itself is beautiful and the range of Catbird sizes allowed me to skip the fitting that I normally need after online shopping. I totally recommend Catbird again and again.

  • I would give it 0 stars if I could. I think it’s ridiculous to charge $30 for shipping to a US territory when their competitor (Stone and Strand) does it for free.

Stop charging so much for shipping and let people enjoy your brand.

  • I have never been more disappointed in an online store’s experience. I purchased 2 solid gold pieces for my fiancee from this store as our wedding gift. I was told during purchase by the agent online that my purchase would qualify for exchange or refund should anything go wrong. I spent ages looking online for a brand and chose this one for MY WEDDING GIFT. Unfortunately the piece I chose did not fit my fiancee and was not her style. I immediately reached out to catbird to initiate the exchange or even credit online. I was told there is no exchanges for international purchases and that their policy is online. It’s buried in a page at the bottom and again - during my extensive discussion with an EMPLOYEE of your business, I expressed that I lived in Canada and was told I could return. During the excitement, of course I assumed the word of an employee was correct. I spent over $800 and couldn’t reach customer service for ages over email until one of their chat agents finally answered me and gave me a “sorry the agent was incorrect but we can’t take it back.” Are you serious? So now we’re stuck with your absolutely overpriced marked up online jewelry that was put into a box messily with no proper wrapping and that doesn’t fit. And you can’t honour what your employee that represents your store said to a customer. I was again, ready to buy more pieces and would have happily just taken a credit. Absolutely unethical company that just shills their product and is extremely overpriced for what they are after talking to numerous other people after the fact. I will never be purchasing here again and would highly advise anyone from doing so. Thanks for ruining my wedding gift that I saved up for. She has to act like she likes it now because of your own company’s unethical practices. When you respond to this and say that your policy is on your site and the same BS about pieces getting lost in customs potentially, please spare me - numerous proper companies around the world do international exchanges and stand by the mistake of an employee that was the direct reason someone purchased your product. Not Catbird though because greed is what matters.
