  • Plastic-free packaging elegance
  • Light, pleasant fragrance profiles
  • Effective dishwasher tablet cleaning
  • Space-saving refill tins
  • Fragile, finicky pump mechanisms
  • Streak-prone glass cleaner formula
  • Inconsistent laundry tab dissolution
  • Underpowered greasy-mess cleaning

Blueland impresses in reviews for delivering effective, low‑waste cleaning—dishwasher tablets, foaming hand soap, toilet tabs, and laundry routines often perform as well as conventional options with lighter, pleasant scents and compact, plastic‑free refills—so the brand is good for everyday cleaning. However, reviews flag inconsistent cleaning strength for heavy messes (glass cleaner streaks, dish powder and some sprays underperform), dissolving issues with laundry tabs, and widely reported failures of plastic “forever” bottles, pumps, and sprayers.

  • I've been using Blueland in my home for about 2 years. I love that it's a sustainable alternative to regular cleaning products. I've been using the products for so long that I don't even think about it. I haven't had to buy plastic cleaning products or hand soap since I started using them! I've tried: their hand soap (would highly rec), all three cleaners (3/5 stars), the laundry and dishwasher soap (would not recommend) and the dish soap (would recommend).

The only thing I do not love about Blueland is: the laundry and dishwasher soap just did not work for me. The laundry tablets never dissolved in my wash, and left weird crumbly soap so I had to rewash all my laundry. The dish washing tablets did the same thing. The hand soap, dish soap, and cleaning products work great and I've never had an issue with them! I would like to have different scent options for the cleaners, but they work fine.

  • Blueland were one of the first on the market on the mission to eliminate single-use plastic and I absolutely love the idea. Their cleaning products are more gentle than mass-market alternatives, which is why some find them less effective. I'm very allergic to regular home cleaning products so Blueland has been a great alternative. The only product I don't quite like is dishwashing soap because it is a powder and not convenient to use, I wish they made it as tablets too. Currently bought their sponges and cloths too and they are super nice! I absolutely love branding and packaging and it is so aesthetically pleasing to use.

  • Love their hand wash tablets, really helps cut down on having to buy additional bottles or giant refill bottles and their seasonal (pine tree) scents are my fave. They also carry them at whole foods now which is convenient.

  • I love the sustainability and scents of the hand soaps. My only qualm is that the soap dispenser pump broke in less than a month of regular use.

  • Nice product there are tablets for washing your hands and it foams up which is really nice. It has iris agave and you should use the tablets with warm water. No more throwing away plastic hand soap bottles you just keep using the same bottle over and over again.

  • I find the Blueland subscription service problematic and stressful. Generally I"ll get an email 2 or 3 days before a shipment asking if I need to delay. I *always* need to delay (not sure where they are getting their use-data), but twice now I have not received the pre-shipping email, and just suddenly have a shipment that I need to store until I need it. The first time it happened, I reached out to Customer Service who basically told me to check my email better. I didn't bother the second time, but I will be cancelling some of my sunscriptions. It should not take this much effort to manage shipments. I'm not impressed with the laundry pellets, but I like the dishwasher and hand soap.

  • Bought the tabs for all purpose cleaner. So far, I enjoy them as a product. I think it is effective and sustainable as they claim. All packaging is paper and can be recycled.

  • I have their dishwasher tablets on auto replenish and I love them. No plastic waste or nasty ingredients.

  • We just reordered the Blueland dishwashing tabs, laundry tabs, and oxi laundry powder and they've been great so far. Minimal packaging and footprint, clean dishes and clothes, and the oxi powder has a really lovely scent. This stuff works, it saves space, and it doesn't cost more than the liquid detergents that I was previously buying.

  • Love their mission and their cleaning products work great. The shipping is kind of slow but if they are sold at the Container Store!

  • Blueland has had some changes since the first time I tried them back in 2021 that I did not particularly love. However, the products from them that I still use, are great. The toilet bowl cleaners are amazing, they smell great, work well and will keep those on hand forever. The laundry booster powder in clear skies is SO great! I love the smell and it is amazing how it rids all of my activewear of that dingy old sweat smell. The powdered dish soap and dispenser were 10000/10 but they have recently changed their formula and made it more powdery and I am not a fan. I wrote back to them to provide feedback and I got an email later with them reaching out to do product testing but I have not heard anything new (this was two months ago). The dishwasher detergent pods are great, plastic free and work very well in my machine. For really big loads, I can easily break one in half and give it that little extra boost it may need. The cleaner pods... I do not love them, nor the spray bottles either. The glass cleaner in particular does not work well. The multisurface cleaner is nice, just there are easier ways to make a sustainable multi-purpose cleaner. With the bathroom cleaner, I feel the same way about the multisurface cleaner, it can be done easier without their fancy pod. The foaming hand soap dispenser is nice and have been using them for two years however, I do not love their hand soap so I have been using their pump with different soap and I am much more content. And lastly, the laundry detergent pods, they never dissolved for me. I tried light loads, cold water, hot water, on towels only, and it never worked well. Very bummed as that is one of the places I was really looking to rid my plastic usage. Overall, this brand is great and has a wonderful concept. There are a few things in quality that should be reviewed and I also would appreciate if they sent a little update that they changed their formula. It sounds like they want to hear feedback so there ya have it!

  • I wanted to LOVE Blueland. I love the idea of refillable cleaning products. I ended up ordering one of the Clean Suite kits when we moved into our new home. My first experience was receiving soap dispensers that didn't work (the pumps would not dispense/foam the soap). When reaching out to support, I had to provide proof (a video) and then send my original pumps back for them to ship me out new pumps. Less than a year later those soap pumps stopped working. The pumps on the cleaning bottles also stopped working. On the site it says that their pumps will eventually need to be replaced, but for the price of their products I would expect them to work a bit longer... I mean my not reusable cleaning spray bottles last longer than these and their 1/4th of the price. Overall, wasn't really impressed with anything.

  • To be fair, I did not buy from Blueland, I just used their hand soap at a friend's house. Fine, but nothing to write home about. Didn't feel any different from, like, Trader Joe's brand soap. I like the refillable aspect though.

  • I have a love hate relationship with Blueland. I LOVE the idea. I feel like I save money and reduce waste when using their products. However the bottles (both spray bottles for things like glass and bathroom cleaner, and foaming hand soap bottles) are just not up to the quality they should be. Every single bottle has broken within 6 months of use. Customer service is always wonderful and will send replacements, but doesn’t this defeat the purpose of the brand? Sending me more plastic bottles with plastic spraying mechanisms? It’s a shame because I love the soap and all the cleaners. They are nontoxic, work very well, and store easily. I also tried their laundry system and was disappointed with that too. I had trouble with tablets never fully dissolving in my front loading washer. Customer service recommend in add an extra rinse cycle or run it again, which helped but seemed like it increased my water usage and definitely increased the time I was spending doing laundry. I have found other eco-friendly laundry alternative that lend themselves to a more typical laundry experience.

Containers seems under developed and like a missed opportunity for better sustainability practices.

  • Likes: Handsoap: really liked it. Probably the only item I will reorder. Oxy laundry powder: love the smell and seems to do the job. Toilet bowl tabs: Nice smell and cleans the bowl just fine. Dislikes: Dish powder: terrible. Used way too much and it didn't do the job. Dishwasher tabs: Also terrible. Even after washing off most of the grease before putting into the dishwasher, it didn't work as well as I would have liked. Laundry tabs: don't fully dissolve and therefore didn't really clean my clothes. Overall, love the sustainability idea but I spent a lot of money on some less-than-decent cleaners.

Their laundry and dish cleaners are underperformers and need a different formulation. Haven't tried their spray cleaners but am hesitant and hopeful at the same time.

  • We tried Blueland's full product line for approximately 6 months (minus laundry and personal care). My takeaways: The only products we're still using is the Blueland Toilet Cleaner tabs, the shaker (powder dispenser) and a couple tins. Interestingly, we're not using the toilet tabs for regular"fullscale" toilet cleaning, but only for soaking the bowl after *ahem* "vigorous use" (ie, spot cleaning). The various sprays ultimately didn't live up to what we previously used as cleaner concentrates (and now use again)-- Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds and The Laundress. Blueland is 'okay' and I'd use it in a pinch, but I'm in the hoysehold cleaner game for ease of use and an awesome outcome. The worst aspect was that most of the sprays left a film on our counters and didn't do a great job of cutting through relatively minor buildup/stains. I thought the bathroom cleaner scent was funky. The dish powder was the actual worst. It made both of us cough badly every time we used it (didn't matter if we held our breath for a minute, poured it and ran away for a while, etc). Obviously there's some kind of mucuous membrane irritant in there. It also inflamed the eczema on my spouse's hands. The dishwasher pods are unfortunately no better than plain dishwasher powder and vinegar. Save your $$ and get something low-ingredient from an off-label brand. The hand soap wasn't our favorite either. Maybe we're spoiled by Liquid Castile soap (Bronner's), but this dried out our hands.

This company's products appeared very hard on our skin/noses/eyes. I highly recommend that Blueland consider the consumer experience and comfort *in addition to* product efficacy. I admire their mission and format, but I don't think they've achieved a product to match... yet.

  • In theory, I love Blueland. I tried them when they first launched and I was so excited for the stunning packaging and the ecofriendliness of it all. However, the products are just *fine* — they don't work that well (I know they're not chemicals, but still, the glass cleaner leaves streaks). The acrylic bottles are also incredibly breakable. I've broken 2 bottles just because they tipped over onto my granite, leaving me with a ton of liquid product everywhere. Also, the squeezy button to get them to squirt gets stuck and is impossible to unstick. The soap container says Blueland on the pump but dirt gets stuck in it and it looks terrible but the dirt is also impossible to remove. I've contacted support 2 times and both they were less than helpful, claiming it was my fault the bottles broke and they formula was streaky. If you're looking for ecofriendly products, I would probably look elsewhere.

  • I bought the dishwasher tablets after learning that the water-soluble plastic coating in conventional pods doesn't fully dissolve and can add to microplastic pollution. The tablets work great so far and I like how every part of my order came in sustainable packaging. I also purchased the handsoap tablets, which I wasn't as big of a fan of (the final product was a bit too watery for my liking), and the reusable drying cloths which I LOVE.

Soap tablets could be smaller/narrower to fit different kinds of bottles. Also feel like the soap doesn't properly clean my hands.

  • I love their hand soaps, especially the latest garden scents. I also use their multi-purpose cleaner — but use this in a glass bottle I already owned instead of their acrylic bottle. I haven’t tried their other cleaners or newer products (laundry, dish washing). I love that you don’t have to use their containers to use their products and that the packaging is really minimal. I’m excited to try their new sponges and dish cloths though.

    Feedback

I wish the cleaner tablets were shaped a bit differently because it’s usually a squeeze to make a new batch of cleaner in my own bottle.

  • All three of my bottles broke over the course of about 18 months, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure they've worked on that problem, though. But I was sad to contribute to plastic waste with the broken bottles. That being said, I totally understand that small businesses go through learning curves with these types of things, my business does as well. If you take a step back and look at the long-view, something like Blueland makes sense. I am likely to buy another kit in the next 12 months when my current cleaning supplies run out, and I look forward to seeing how the new bottles hold up! Overall, the concept is great, and much needed.
