  • Protein-rich pasta alternative
  • Surprisingly authentic texture
  • Flavorful frozen pizzas
  • Kid-approved crowdpleasers
  • Inconsistent noodle integrity
  • Sticky, mushy overcooking risk
  • Noticeable chickpea aftertaste
  • Clumpy long-cut spaghetti

Banza earns strong reviews as a high‑protein, gluten‑free swap that often tastes and chews close to traditional pasta and even delivers standout frozen pizzas, while many note it can overcook quickly, turn mushy or sticky, and some cuts feel fragile. Reviews of Banza praise the satisfying, protein‑dense pasta, kid‑friendly appeal, and tasty mac & cheese (notably White Cheddar), but flag inconsistent texture across shapes, occasional bitter/chickpea aftertaste, and spaghetti/linguine that clump or stay too firm.

  • I love the chickpea pasta! I add in ground turkey and it’s a great meal with a ton of protein!

  • Probably the best non-authentic italian (gluten-free) pasta. Taste is good but can turn mushy if overcooked in the slightest.

  • I’ve tried various gluten free pasta brands, and Banza is definitely the best! The texture is good and the shape holds well. The flavor is mild and I love that I’m also getting protein in! I will say it is best cooked fresh - the texture isn’t as good for leftovers.

  • I think I may have over cooked the past because it kinda feel apart. Make sure you are checking it when it is cooking - aldente is best for Banza.

  • I have IBS and SIBO and am always looking for alternatives because I'm gluten free and really trying limit my symptoms from appearing. I personally found the texture a little chewy, where I found rice pasta has a way closer texture and flavor to pasta than banza does. It's not my personal GO TO when buying an alt. pasta.

  • I bought tried this pasta over a year ago though another testing site and I’m glad I was chosen to try it because not only is it delicious and easy to make just like real pasta but it’s made out of vegetables. My sister who suffers from diabetes isn’t allow to have certain foods and normal pasta is one. This is the best and closest substitute to real pasta just healthier! I love banza and so does my sister!

  • The chickpea rice cooked in a little chicken broth tastes somehow exactly like rice pilaf. We also use the chickpea rice as an orzo substitute because it’s got a thicker flatter grain than regular rice.

  • I got the protein pasta and it was really chewy and not a paste texture I enjoy. I like the protein benefits though

  • Good macros and replacement for traditional pasta, sometimes texture might take a min to get adjusted to

  • I really like these chickpea pastas! I don’t think of them as a substitute for traditional flour pastas, but like them to add vegetarian or vegan protein to meals.

  • I have a bone to pick with Banza... this is marketed as a high protein pasta, but it is by NO means high in protein. Sure, it has a little more protein than regular wheat based pastas, but it's certainly not "high protein." A serving size is still 35g carbs. In the nutrition world, "high protein" is more like 20-30g+ per serving. But in order to get that an adequate amount of protein in a serving, you have to eat double the serving size. So in order to get a "high protein" meal with Banza's pastas, you also have to be willing to eat a fair amount of carbs and this also means you're going to be consuming a high amount of calories with lower volume... basically, I wouldn't eat this when cutting calories [unless you just absolutely hate eating food] because you won't get the fullness you need to feel satiated since you're getting both carbs and protein from this single source. Most importantly, the taste just wasn't there for me. It has a hint of dirty chickpea water to me unless you drench the pasta in a strong flavor or sauce. I'd rather eat a smaller serving of real pasta.

  • our favorite go to for GF Pasta. so long as you rinse with cold water, the texture is pretty similar to regular pasta and you get all the benefits of chicpeas to boot

  • Banza has replaced most wheat pasta in our gluten-free home. It's easy to cook and if you don't leave it too long, it holds its texture. I do find there is a slightly unpleasant aftertaste, but with sauce, it's not really noticeable. My toddler likes this brand, and my husband does too! Wish these were made with organic ingredients! If another brand launches this product, but organic, we will switch.

  • Great tasting pasta! The texture is a little different if you’re not used to it but overall it doesn’t bother me and I love the flavor and high fiber and protein .

  • Banza is now a central part of my diet. I am obsessed with their pizza crust.

  • I’m a rather picky eater, and this is a really good substitute and allows me to get more nutrition from my meals.

  • Good vegan protein pasta, a bit expensive.

  • Looks like the past you’re used to, but feels much healthier. The noodles cook the same and do achieve a very nice al dente. The only think that may put some people off is that it may provide a starchier, grittier mouth feel than a typical pasta. However, I didn’t find this to be unpleasant. 4/5 - would definitely recommend!
