The Ordinary earns strong reviews for being effective and ingredient-focused: many users report clearer, smoother, more hydrated skin from staples like Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, and the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Reviews also flag weaknesses: some formulas feel sticky or pill, certain actives (retinoids, vitamin C, high-percentage acids) can irritate or be too harsh, results can be hit-or-miss by product or skin type, and the range can be confusing without research.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
This ordinary skin product is anything but ordinary in its effectiveness. It doesn't boast fancy packaging or an exorbitant price tag, but it delivers where it matters most – results. The lightweight formula absorbs seamlessly into the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated. What sets it apart is its versatility – suitable for daily use and compatible with various skin types. It strikes the perfect balance, providing just enough moisture without feeling greasy. Whether you're a skincare minimalist or looking for a reliable staple, this ordinary product proves that simplicity can be the key to radiant, healthy-looking skin. A dependable choice for those who appreciate beauty in the basics.
Love their products! Super clean and affordable options that DO deliver!
Some of their products are good but you should do your research on the efficacy of their products.
I have used several of the ordinary products. The best one is the niacinamide and I’ll keep buying it. I got one of the peels that works well and makes skin soft but fallow directions - can be painful if you have any acne or cuts and causes intense sensitivity to sunlight. I got a hand cream that was just ok - it was oily and didn’t absorb as well as others I have. I think this is a good brand and I’ve liked the products overall. But do your research on what your skin needs or ask your dermatologist to make a recommendation before buying.
Love how affordable these products are, but they've consistently been a bit too strong for my sensitive skin. Works well for my partner who is not quite as sensitive but it's not a great alternative for prescription-quality products.

I'm absolutely thrilled with The Ordinary's retinol products! Not only are they incredibly affordable, but their effectiveness is beyond impressive. My skin has seen a noticeable improvement in texture and tone. It's rare to find such high-quality skincare at such a reasonable price. The Ordinary really stands out for delivering results without breaking the bank. Highly recommend for anyone seeking effective, budget-friendly skincare solutions
Such great product for the pricepoint, not sure if I notice a huge difference with their products, but i like using this as an intro to new skincare to see if i like it or will use it without breaking the bank.

I own about 6-7 products from The Ordinary. My most faves are their face oils. They're not breaking my bank and keep my skin healthy. I'd highly recommend the brand.

As a guy, I didn’t really initiate my skincare so kudos to my partner who made my way to a skincare routine at the minimum level. The Ordinary is an affordable brand with science backup. I’d not be willing to spend a hefty price on a skincare product just to maintain a healthy skin.
Some of my all time favorite skincare products
I absolutely love the ordinary and how they’ve made high quality skincare accessible at a reasonable price point. Their copper peptides, caffeine serum, hyaluronic acid, retinol, glycolic acid, and cleanser all have worked wonders. The reason I dropped their score is that sadly I won’t be able to use them due to their Zionist affiliation

I have to work fast to spread this because it absorbs into skin very quickly. I do 3-4 small applications to cover my face. I have been diluting it by directly spreading it over the water that is still on my face after cleansing. That makes it easier to spread as opposed to when applying to completely dry skin. I estimate this brings down the niacinamide concentration closer to 5% which is sufficient and reduces irritation from high niacinamide percentage. I apply it after every cleanse, twice per day. I also use it under tretinoin, azelaic acid, lactic acid, moisturizer, and sunscreen. It works well with everything. At my rate of usage, less than 1/4 tsp per application, this will last me about three months.
Great products at affordable prices. I have tried the caffeine eye cream and it did not irritate my face at all. Haven’t see much a difference in my dark circles but I’m going to continue to use it!
Almost every piece of skincare I use is from The Ordinary. I think where they sometimes fall down is their instructions aren’t obviously clear, and getting the last drop from the squeezies can be tricky, but I do know you can speak to someone about the former and they will support you, so the support is there. Shipping direct from Deciem also tends to be slow, and I hate going third party, so that’s annoying, but there’s always alternatives!

serums are very affective!
You simply can't beat these prices for the quality! The hyaluronic acid is a staple in my skincare routine.
Definitely hit or miss. The hyaluronic acid is really thick and doesn’t pair well with other brands. Good Molecules has a great formula at a comparable price. Their caffeine eye serum and glycolic acids are great quality and very effective. Trial and error with this brand, unfortunately!

Overall, it’s a truly revolutionary brand. I appreciate their range, simplicity, and affordable prices. Currently and don’t use much of their products, but have tested many solid or great products over the years. Some highlights are the red aha/bha mask, a bargain for its performance, the powder vitamin c, which was the best vitamin c I ever used - my face would become instantly brighter and smoother (I just couldn’t adapt to the powder formulation, as is not very convenient), and the niacinimide, that has a pleasant formulation, and a great cost-benefit (the only one products that still have a space in my current skincare routine).
The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer is a great option for those looking for a primer that creates a smooth, even base for makeup

Niacinamide serum: been using this for years and its never failed me. It helps clear my skin up even after getting lazy with my skincare routine. I have combo skin, but I think this is a great product for all, if not, most skin types. Daily Moisturizer: I expected more from this product, as the last step to my skin care routine, I expected a nice appealing finish, perhaps glowy even, but it had more of a matte finish, had to rub it multiple times on my face for the product to sink in or my face was looking white for 5-10 minutes.
