  • The Farmer’s Dog offers a fresh approach to pet meals with its personalized, high-quality dog food. However, it might not be the best option if you're budget-conscious. The cost is high for what you receive, and the portion sizes left my dog less than satisfied. he was actually pissed when he saw what i put in his bowl! The packaging can also be a hassle, as re-sealing the bags creates a bit of a mess. If you're keen on providing fresh meals for your furry friend, it might be easier and more cost-effective to buy your own ingredients and prepare them in a crockpot. Overall, while the concept is great, there are more practical alternatives.

  • I didn’t read all reviews but I’m shocked to see them lower. Maybe because the price? I don’t know but my dog was obsessed with the food. I can’t afford to keep buying it unfortunately.

  • My dog absolutely LOVED this food! However, I wish you could have some say in the preportioned sizes. For us, it was 2 servings in a package, which then got a bit messy to serve. Plus, the vet then put him on a diet, and I felt like I didn’t know how to appropriately reduce calories. Still would recommend if you can afford it!

  • Stay away from FD!! My dog liked it at first but then started starving himself before eating it again. The packs come inconsistent in color and texture. Soggy super mushy! Every time there are throw away packs because it just didn’t look right. So freaking expensive to not be what you ordered!!! I see why some people’s complaints are medical issues. I wish some agency would look into all these negatives against FD!!! It’s highway robbery to do what they’re doing and endangering some people’s dogs!! I can make something much better for much less!!! Do yourself a favor and don’t believe everything on there ads!! If you decide to order you’ll eventually see for yourself!!! Consider yourself warned by more than just I. If you love your pet make or buy something safe and consistent. It shouldn’t break the bank to feed your dog healthy. Thank you for reading. 🤞🏽

  • Before putting Ranger on an all raw diet we had him on The Framers Dog for the first few weeks since it’s slightly cooked let food. It was a great way to switch him into eating on a fully raw diet at 12 weeks old. I would highly reccomend this over kibble and if you are wanting to transition your pups from kibble to all raw this is the way to get their body started.

    Purchased myself.
  • The Farmer's Dog is such a customer-centric company. My dog is obsessed with the food (she went on a hunger strike when I gave her just kibble) and the packages are easy to measure out of. There is variety to what she eats and I love that it'll lengthen her lifespan <3

The packages are a bit messy and sort of wasteful. I wish there was another way other than the plastic packaging.

  • My french bulldog has always had digestive issues. I had tried royal canine, Stella and chewy, instinct, taste of the wild, and home cooking food. I had tried limited ingridient, grain, grain-free and semi raw diets and nothing was able to get her pooping regularly, without blood and at a consistent firmness. Farmers dog has been the solution for us and I would 100% recommend this food particularly for a french bulldog. Weight management has also been incredibly easy since switching.

  • Farmer’s Dog is fantastic! My pup Auggie, loved it 😍 He would rather eat Farmer’s Dog than any food I was eating. Amazing 🐶 He was so healthy and even puppy like eating their food. When he passed on about a month ago from an aggressive type of lung cancer, the woman I spoke with on the phone to cancel my future orders was so compassionate and wonderful. They refunded the amount I paid for my whole last 42 day order and they sent a beautiful card and plant in honor of my Auggie 🫶 I can’t recommend Farmer’s dog enough. Best food and most wonderful customer care. Thank you🙏

  • My 5 yr old beagle, Ollie, is severely overweight. I began the trial program and am now on 2nd shipment, which came exactly on time. He LOVES the food and after about 5 weeks he is visibly losing weight and more active. An added bonus, his allergies have all cleared up, including a constant ear infection. I am very happy customer. Ollie thanks you. :-)

  • I have only been a loyal customer of The Farmer’s Dog for a few months now, and at first I was extremely satisfied with my trial order . However, my recent order was truly disappointing, both for me and my dog. First off, there was barely any pieces of meat in this order, while the first had visible pieces of chicken. The new food batch on the other hand came out very watery, and there is a significant decrease in the amount of food given. 40 g difference between the trial order (577g/package and 534g/package in the new order) I would love to continue supporting this company as a customer, however, the customer service was not efficient, I sent 2 emails with pictures, receiving no answers, and when I called, I was told the weigh can vary from 1 batch to another (40g difference is a lot!), that they changed the recipe, and cannot do anything for me. I hope we can find a solution to this problem, as I now have over 20 packs of this new dog food that my dog won’t eat!

  • My dog has always been a very picky eater. He LOVES The Farmer’s Dog food. He goes nuts when I take it out of the fridge and gobbles it down, something he had never done before. He is slowly losing weight, and would do better if I could break his habit of begging for treats - or my habit of giving in to his begging. It took him about a week for his intestines to adjust. My only issue is the price, but my little guy is worth it!

  • My dog loves every recipe. We started our sweet 8 week old puppy on 1/2 kibble and 1/2 fresh topper and she is now 5 months old and health arms they come. No allergies, healthy stool, phenomenal shiny coat, and gaining weight perfectly. Knowing I am feeding her right and knowing I’m going to add years on her life means more to me than anything. Healthy gut is key to everything.

Price is tough with the economy but trying to make it work, as long as I can. She is my baby and I will remove luxury things I need to make sure she is the happiest I can be. But a special or discount every once in a while would be wonderful.

  • My shih tzu is picky about food and has a sensitive tummy. She became a quick fan of human grade food through The Farmer’s Dog. She has tried other frozen brands but seems to prefer the taste from The Farmer’s Dog. We have been mixing a little bit of kibble with her soft food. She prefers the beef. The food looks tasty enough for humans to eat!

  • We have a King Charles Cav that was overweight and consistently getting ear infections. We moved to The Farmer's Dog and life changed immediately for Hank. He loves the food, his weight is better and no more ear infections. Our vet was tremendously impressed with the changes in Hank and so are we. In addition, the food shipping and communications with the team from Farmer's Dog is wonderful.

Honestly, I think the best thing they can do is keep doing what they are doing and maybe add some new flavors to the choices. Right now they have three options. Also, at some point they can expand and build a community of dog owners who can connect with each other. Possibly send a branded refrigerator container that hold the open package better than the cardboard one that arrives each month. We're hooked so this could be for loyal customers!

  • My dogs love Farmer's Dog food! The meals are personalized per dog and come portioned. They truly seem like they care about my dog's health.

  • This isn't fresh food. First and foremost, fresh food doesn't look like this. This is no different from canned dog food. After my dog eating it for 4 months, I noticed my bull terrier would have very gooey stools and diarrhea almost everyday. At first I thought it was contamination from other dogs since I was letting my dog out in my front yard to do his thing etc. As that's what the vet had mentioned to me that its contamination from other dogs. After the 4th month of still feeding my dog this product, I decided to change his food since I didn't want to keep giving my dog medication for his gooey stools and diarrhea. The moment I changed his diet, his gooey stool went away and no more diarrhea. This food isn't healthy for dogs, yes it's better than feeding them kibbles, but I would rather just feed my dog straight ground beef and ground turkey with rice and vegetables. It's way cheaper and natural and my dog doesn't have anymore issues. Would not recommend his brand as "Fresh Food", but would consider it like CANNED FOOD.

  • My 2 dogs have only been on The Farmer's Dog for 3-4 months. I came here looking for reviews because I've recently noticed whole garbanzo beans in one of the dog's poos. The other dog only eats the Chicken Recipe which doesn't have garbanzo beans. Obviously, the beans aren't being cooked thoroughly. I've emailed The Farmer's Dog to look into the matter, and hopefully it gets remedied. In the meantime, I'm smashing the beans with a fork before serving. She's a small dog and I've been concerned about the larger chunks of meat in the recipes too, which I've also voiced to TFD. After reading the first few reviews, NOW I'm concerned with liver issues associated with the food. My older dog has elevated liver numbers and takes a supplement to keep it from getting out of control. Her numbers started rising before introducing TFD food, but still, it's concerning. I really don't want to be naively harming my dogs' health in my effort to give them something I see as 'nutritious and natural'. I really don't know what to do.

I've noticed the chickpeas are very hard too, and tried to bring that to their attention. I've tried smashing them, and there are a lot of them. My dog gets gastric distress and diarrhea from this recipe. A lot of broccoli in there also. He does okay on the chicken grain formula, but I'm thinking of giving this up. My vet told me there's evidence dogs should not be eating legumes, some grain is okay. She didn't recommend this brand.

  • The trial I received was mass produced canned dog food that had been shoved in a plastic package and a label with my dog’s name. Neither of my dogs would eat their normal food (homemade by me) with the farmer’s dog food in the dish. The food looked NOTHING like the tv commercials. There was NO customization for my dogs. Horrible product, if you want to feed your dogs homemade food, make it yourself!

  • My 11 year old Skipperkee, Lacy Lou, decided to stop eating her mix of Blue Buffalo kibble and BB wet after we tainted it with mixing in an antibiotic following a surgery. Flat out refused for 3 days. I looked into Farmers dog and was shocked that it was going to cost $4.82/day for a 20 LB dog. $12/day is insane as one customer reported, likely for a larger dog. So, I decided to make my own "human quality" blend which consisted of browning 3 lbs of ground turkey, 1 lb of chicken livers, 1 cup of rice, and a mix of 1 lb of frozen peas, carrots, and green beans. I added nothing else, especially no salt, spices, or seasonings. I load up a 3-4 day serving in freezer bags and put them in a freezer. I still give her the dry Blue Buffalo kibble and now this new blend with her kibble, twice/day with about a half tsp of salmon oil She absolutely loves it. Lou seems more energetic and there has been nothing notable that is of concern. She's very playful and her stools are solid and look fine. Shiny coat and her weight has not altered. It's been about 8 weeks and I'm happy with the change. Oh and the best part... it cost around $24.50 to prepare a 2 month supply. That breaks down to .42/day! That's in cents... not dollars. I think Farmers dog may be convenient for those dog owners who don't either have the knowhow or time to prepare their own mix and can afford it. But for most middle income folks, it's not logical.

  • I feed it to my 2 german shepherds they liked it, but they ended up with liver failure and one died of lymphoma They where on only 4 years old. The vet said the fat content in farmers dog is really high I wish I had never feed it to them
