SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

A very tasty alternative to generic candies but gummies are a strange texture. Not terrible, just takes getting used to.
For being low sugar these are very tasty and I love that they are women-owned. It's been cool to see their product line grow over the years and introduce so many nostalgic flavors. Not every flavor is a complete hit but I think there is enough to satisfy most people. They don't give me that same stomachache that other sugar-free candies tend to give you (typically from aspartame which SmartSweets doesn't have). My only gripe is that they can get stuck in your teeth. I have sensitive teeth and struggle with that, so I really can't eat these or fully enjoy them when I do eat them. That could be a very personal thing though, but I think worthy of calling out.
DO NOT FINISH THE BAG IN ONE SITTING This stuff tastes fine with the fake sugar aftertaste, but will send you to the restroom if you consume too much. I bought a case from Amazon and made the mistake of finishing a bag of the gummy worms. My stomach twisted and turned for the longest until is finally decided to eject this stuff out of my body.
This is the best low sugar candy that I have found. I love that there are so many different varieties. I love that this makes having sweet treats feel much better. My son loves all that we have tried. I highly recommend them.

Taste is great, but would like to have more options without sucralose. Also way too expensive for tiny portions. Not sustainable.
Healthier alternative for sweet cravings. Taste pretty good, not to sweet, but can be a bit too chewy.
Honestly, I had a bit of an obsession with these when they first came out. I really liked the flavor of the sour gummy bears. The consistency of them was not the greatest but they are sour and I liked that. I will also say that it did help fill the void when I wanted candy but I didn't want to feel guilty for eating it. It wasn't until I started eating a more balanced diet of wholefoods that I stopped going for these when I wanted to treat myself to some candy. Now I would never chose them and I can't lie to myself and say they taste great. But if you are on a weight loss journey and you still get those strong cravings for candy or something sour, these will do for you. They may cause you some stomach issues given the amount of fiber in them though!!
I really enjoy Smart Sweets and their candy choices are all yummy and fix my sweet tooth cravings. I am always let down by the amount of candy you get for the cost. A tiny bag of gummy worms will cost about $4 where I am from and at that rate I could eat a burger. Hope to see their prices go down over time!
The candies are good, not great. I have issues with their gummies getting stuck to my teeth, and having a bit of a chemical-y aftertaste. They’ll scratch the itch if you want candy and really need to avoid sugar, but they’re not mind blowing.
The concept really resonates but the candy is hit or miss. Texture and taste has been off on many I’ve tried.
Super tasty and hit the spot when craving a gummy sweet treat. The only downside is they make me feel a bit gassy and bloated the next day from the fiber and sugar alternatives.
Love the concept! A bit pricy for candy but I guess you pay for it being a bit better for you!
These candies are too chewy i know that they are supposed to be healthy but it’s just not worth it
Sometimes I want to eat a whole bag of candy but your girl has PCOS and insulin resistance. I don’t want to restrict but I don’t want to overload. Smartsweets is the best of both worlds. It actually tastes good and like candy but doesn’t kill my sugar levels. It is a little pricey but worth the money here and there
These are a good alternative to regular candy if you are worried about sugar or calories, but they do stick to my teeth pretty bad.
Some candies I prefer over others. Really enjoy their sour flavors
I wanted to love these because I love sweets but the amount of carbs in the "healthier candy" is just crazy. I rather have the regular candy as there is no calorie benefit on having these. The flavors on these are not great either!!
I love these "sweet" alternatives! The only reason for a 4 is, I've tried almost every flavor and every type, from hard candy to licorice like candies, and they all kind of taste the same. I just wish there was a little more flavor profile to them.
One of the best things about Smart Sweets is the peace of mind they provide. Being able to indulge in a sweet treat without the worry of a blood sugar spike is such a relief. Their candies are not just delicious, but they also fit perfectly into a lifestyle that prioritizes health and well-being. Whether I'm craving something fruity or a classic gummy bear, Smart Sweets offers a range of choices that are all equally satisfying and guilt-free. This variety means I never get bored and always have a healthier alternative on hand when the sweet cravings hit. I often share these with my niece, and she absolutely loves them! It's great to have a snack that I can enjoy with her, knowing it's a healthier option for both of us.
I really wanted to love these for the lower sugar content as opposed to the OG full sugar option. I found the taste to be somewhat comparable but there was a stick-to-your-teeth texture and a bit of a strange aftertaste. Overall, less guilt and an ok flavor but not amazing.
