RAO’s earns high marks in reviews for delivering fresh, homemade‑tasting sauces with clean, low‑sugar ingredients and standout varieties like Arrabbiata, Vodka, and Sensitive Marinara that many consider the best jarred options. Reviews also flag drawbacks: frequent comments about a higher price, occasional acidity or oiliness, mixed opinions on marinara and vodka sauce boldness, and concerns from a few about quality changes post‑acquisition.

The only downside to Rao's is that once you've had it, it'll be the only sauce you want to use. The rest will be terribly disappointing. And while it's pricier than other brands, the quality is well worth it. Always go to Costco though - they sell the larger jars and it's a pretty good deal. Sometimes, I'll just eat it with a spoon. It's what tomato sauce should taste like. I've also tried their frozen penne alla vodka entree - go buy this now! It tastes homemade, it's better than what I could make at home, and it's such a good meal to have on a day when I'm too tired to cook.
One of the best jarred sauces. Tastes fresh/high quality.
there's no red sauce like rao's, that i've ever had at least. it can upgrade literally just a simple pasta, needing nothing else. can even just toast a bit of sourdough and dip it right in. also great for homemade pizzas. only downside is that it's not organic but... 80/20, right? haha
Once you try Rao’s, it’s incredibly difficult to switch back to a lower quality tomato sauce. The balance between the acidity and sweetness of the tomatoes is perfect. I’d love to see a sun dried tomato pesto as I’m not a big basil fan.
great, costco classic
I love the healthier ingredients in this sauce & the flavor options. While the price point of these may be higher than other sauces, the quality definitely justifies it.
Love the clean ingredients in Rao’s and have always loved the taste! No matter what tomato sauce you’re buying, read the ingredients—there should never be a paragraph of things you have never heard of! Rao’s was one of the first brands I found keeping it simple and delicious. Just can’t always buy it due to the price at a lot of places!!
BEST pasta sauce on the market! On the pricier side so definitely look for them at Costco!

One of the best pasta sauces, honestly everything from them is really good. I had their soups, their pastas, their pizzas . They use high quality ingredients, nice jars. Seasoned pretty well.
I’m hooked on the Rao’s Arrabbiata sauce. Just enough heat for a spicy kick without being overwhelming. It’s spoiled me for any other jarred sauce. Worth the price!
An absolutely delicious and gourmet-tasting spaghetti sauce. I tried the roasted garlic flavor. The sauce tastes fresh, and you can clearly see the real garlic and tomatoes that go into the sauce. I love garlic, but unfortunately am sensitive to raw garlic. Beware if you are sensitive to raw garlic: be sure to let your sauce simmer for some time to "cook" the garlic down further. Great garlic flavor otherwise! This is now my go-to spaghetti sauce when I want to make a quick meal. Will repurchase forever!
This is the only marinara sauce I'll buy - goes so well with my homemade meatballs! The ingredients are clean. I also love some of their jarred soups as well for a quick lunch.

This sauce is the closest I have found to homemade. It’s clean and tasty!
I am not a huge fan of pasta sauce, but LOVE this stuff! They have a variety of flavors to chose from, they taste good, and are worth the few extra dollars in comparison to store brand!

Hands down, best marinara sauce in the market. The depth of flavor and freshness is unparallel. If you haven't tried this yet, you're missing out.
Delicious pasta sauce. Nothing needs to be added for great flavor. Also makes a great pizza sauce reduced down in a pan.
While I will probably never get a seat at the famed Rao's restaurant in NYC, I can pretend with this pasta sauce. After a childhood of Ragu, Progresso, etc, I finally learned what I was missing once I tasted Rao's. The sauce is perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, robust with flavor, a perfect pasta sauce. The best is that I can purchase it in a two pack from Costco for a reasonable price. It elevates any weeknight spaghetti dinner.
Top shelf pasta sauce. If you have houseguests and you want to impress them with your cooking skills then I’d suggest serving them this sauce, you could burn the noodles and this sauce would still be able to save the meal.

RAO's isn't just a sauce--it makes the entire dish. It's a game-changer for a quick pasta dinner at home.
Good quality sauce but a little overpriced. The marinara sauce is tasty but I wish it was slightly more sweet rather than so acidic. Does taste fresh though.
