Silk and Snow
LETS TALK ABOUT SILK AND SNOW. I have many thoughts on this brand, and sadly, I have very little that is positive to say. This is another brand that originated in Toronto and I really wanted to love, but was incredibly disappointed with the quality of their products, their customer service and shopping experience. Brand has great marketing - whoever runs your marketing department, 5 stars, give that lady a raise. I was incredibly disappointed with the quality of the products I received. I'll start by saying, I purchased an entirely new set of bedding/sheets/pillows, the whole nine yards, from Silk and Snow last year in July for my birthday. I waited a year and a half to write this review to confirm their products are indeed horrible, and that I wasn't just being salty given how disappointed I was with my experience, but the products have continued to deteriorate the longer I own them. I ordered their linen bedding set - fitted sheet, duvet cover, two pillow cases and two extra large pillow cases, as well as 2 pillows, 2 large pillows, a mattress protector, and an all-season duvet from Silk and Snow. Whenever I wash the bedding, I cannot explain how much lint and dust ends up all over my condo. I'm talking, I have to vacuum both my duvet, and the entire condo 3-4 times during the wash / dry / re add to my bed process, and the lint completely fills the vaccume every time. I'm honestly surprised that I have any bedding left based on how much lint comes off into the air and into the dryer. The photo I've attached was taken after ONE YEAR of washing the bedding once per week/once every two weeks. I reached out to Silk and Snow almost immediately after purchasing the bedding when I noticed this and was told that this is normal, and it should stop shedding after a couple of washes. ABSOLUTELY untrue lolol. Secondly, after only a year and a half of use, the pillow cases are starting to come apart at the seams, and the large pillow cases are too big for the large pillows? Which is weird, because both are made by Silk and Snow. The stitching has started to unravel. You'd think they would fit their own pillow cases to their brand of pillows, but I digress. In addition, the fitted sheet doesn't have any elastic anywhere except the corners, so it slides off your bed. Every. Single. Time. You. Sit. In. It. I ended up buying "sheet suspenders" from Amazon to ensure the fitted sheet stays on the bed, but they are damn annoying to put on and take off. I just feel like the sheets should actually stay on the mattress without having to purchase an extra accessory but again, I digress. The "all season" duvet is the hottest, most unbreathable blanket that I have ever used in my entire life. As in, last winter, I slept with my sliding glass door open in my bedroom ALL WINTER and I still sweat every single night while sleeping. I have never had a problem being a warm sleeper until I purchased a duvet from Silk and Snow. And linen is literally marketed for its breathability. Anyways, 10/10 I would avoid this brand unless you want a disappointing experience. I can't help but laugh when I see their current marketing materials as their campaign is marketing silk and snow as specifically breathable, and for hot sleepers. Personally, this is been the complete opposite of my experience.
