Reviews mention

  • Potent bond-repair technology
  • Luxurious clean fragrance
  • Highly concentrated formulas
  • Effective brass-neutralizing pigment
  • Inconsistent results across hair
  • Potentially drying formulas
  • Heavy feel on fine hair
  • Staining purple pigment

OLAPLEX earns polarized reviews: it visibly strengthens and revives bleached or damaged hair—No. 3 Hair Perfector, No. 6 Bond Smoother, No. 7 Bonding Oil, and the 4P Purple Shampoo are frequent standouts—yet many users report dryness, heaviness, or even increased shedding and brittleness if overused. The brand is praised for salon-clean scent, rich lather, and fast toning, but criticized for inconsistent results across hair types and small, hard-to-dispense bottles.

  • After Olaplex got a lot of buzz on social media, I asked a hair stylist if she’d recommend it for me. She said that since I don’t really do anything to damage my hair she didn’t, but she would recommend the oil. I liked it enough, I’m definitely a little more allegiant to Paul Mitchell, but I can definitely see how other people would need this line with more damaged hair. PLEASE check if you need this before trying!!

  • I have tried the No 7 Bonding Oil. I think it really helps my hair in-between seeing my hairdresser. Olaplex is high quality, so I don't doubt its effectiveness and for that reason I rate the oil highly.

I prefer the fragrance and "light" feeling of the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil. The Olaplex fragrance is not anything too special.

  • I think Olaplex had a grip on us and the market when they first started but it seems that I'm able to find more products now that do the thing as they do at a much lower price point - think Ion's $2 Step 1 Booster versus Olaplex's $28 No3. Their shampoo and conditioner are unremarkable, the dry oil is decent hair oil.

  • This worked great for my hair.

  • I used the small starter skit of No. 4, 5, 6 and 7. The shampoo, No.4 was very nice to use with lots of foam with just a little applied to my hair. It was a soothing smell and I usually need to wash it twice before I get all the nice foams to wash my hair but this one only required once. The conditioner No. 5 was also good smell and nice spread onto my hair. After I dried off my hair, I applied the No. 7 hair oil and started drying my hair. I wish the oil dispensed a bit more better since it came out little at a time. The smell was amazing and while drying my hair it felt moisturized and my fingers going through my hair better than usual. After the next day, I felt my hair was more moist and soft. Just my first time using but I've been loving it and see how it effects my hair in the next few months. The only downside is the cost but with the good foaming I think it should last for a few months.

  • TBH, the first time I tried the shampoo/conditioner/bonding oil years and years ago, I was not a fan. What changed? IDK, but it must be their formula because now, after retrying it last month, I AM OBSESSED. I have curly wavy hair that is usually slightly frizzy until day three of no washing. The current number 4 and 5 shampoo/conditioner make my hair look like a goodesses. Buy this if you want covergirl hair.

  • I wasn't sure at first if Olaplex would work on my fine thin hair, but I was pleasantly surprised. It worked great and made my hair feel super soft and shiny. Definitely will buy it again!

  • This is my OG purple shampoo, I've not come across another product that compares or does the same job as Olaplex does. The product itself is strong, as it should be, and it genuinely does what a purple shampoo is meant to. It never fails to brighten and refresh my blonde hair. I find it to be great value for money, and a little bit really does go a long way.

  • Thought I’d like better than I did. Smells good. Have tried all of their products.

  • The No 7 bonding oil is the only product I've tried from Olaplex but it is a MUST HAVE for me. The ends of my long hair get really dry in winter. This oil isn't too greasy and a few drops easily work through my hair, by just using my hands.

  • Olaplex shampoo and condition were both very hydrating and did not cause dandruff to my very dry scalp.

  • I have used a number of products from olaplex. i love the hair masks

  • Olaplex is fine. Nothing to write home about. Made my already dry hair feel even more dry. I do enjoy the hair oil but probably will not repurchase.

  • I used Olaplex after going blonde and it was part of the routine that my hair dresser provided. My hair still felt weak and stringy but I think that’s the nature of going blonde. I do not feel like the product made a difference

  • my hairdresser gave me the salon quality protein treatment and it saved my blonde hair. i use it once every month and it's amazing :)

  • I used a full bottle of No.3 and found no difference in my hair. If anything it made it a little smoother in the short-term but I get the same results from a basic hair mask. I use the bonding oil before using heat on my hair and it seems to work well as a heat protectant. Again though, it doesn't make my hair overly noticeably smoother or anything. Note: I have fine hair dyed blonde.

  • I found olaplex quite effective and groundbreaking before I tried other, more effective haircare. It's not bad, it's just not the best on the market, and you can easily overdo it with the treatments. Proceed with caution.
