Reviews mention

  • Creamy, dairy-like mouthfeel
  • Exceptional barista-grade frothing
  • Versatile, cooking-friendly consistency
  • Consistently smooth, neutral flavor
  • Additive-heavy ingredient list
  • Occasional glucose-spike concerns
  • Possible gut sensitivity reports
  • Inconsistent thickness across versions

Oatly earns strong reviews for creamy, dairy-like texture—especially the Barista Edition, which froths reliably for café-level lattes and blends beautifully in coffee, matcha, and baking—while critiques target ingredient lists with added oils/gums and a sometimes sweet or “oaty” aftertaste. Reviews also note occasional gut sensitivity and glucose spikes, plus variability in thickness across versions, making Oatly a standout for performance in drinks but not ideal for those seeking the cleanest formulas.

  • Love oatly barista! It is a good classic go to oat milk brand that is barista level and tastes great in coffee. I really enjoy it in my lattes every morning. Also love how accessible and easy it is to find in stores

  • My work started using as a milk alternative. It’s nice and creamy but if it’s more than a few ounces it makes me sick. Saying like I can use it with a shot of espresso but not a latte.

  • The oat milk that really started it all! I remember getting drinks at a cute NYC cafe that I really liked and I noticed that they used Oatly. It was hard to find then and the supply chain hadn’t expanded beyond cafes and baristas in 2016-2017 or so. I do like the taste as it’s quite creamy with matcha lattes and smoothies but I’ve started to purchase other brands now that oat milk and other dairy alternatives are everywhere. There’s something that almost feels high in fat because of the creaminess!

  • The products are great tasting- especially the barista line- but I’ve stopped drinking oat milk because oat milk raises my blood sugar levels. If they came out with soy or almond, I’d be willing to try.

  • It froths well, but is high in sugar with a high glycemic index. I would use it if you prefer a creamier latte or as an addition in a cold brew. I would not use it every day or as a substitute for milk in cooking recipes due to the taste and sweetness.

  • I’ve been drinking Oatly for a while now and it’s defintly my favorite plant milk. The taste is smooth and not too sweet, works perfect in coffe and also for baking. Can totaly recomend it if you’re looking for a good oat milk.

  • Creamy and tastes good in coffee. It's one of the healthier oat milks as there's no gums and no preservatives in at least the original version that I tried. However, they are using rapeseed oil and that's a big NO for me. I'm not sure why the website is so chaotic and made up like everything is a joke. It's definitely unique, just not my thing.

  • Just tried the Oatly Frozen Yogurt served at Gott's & it was such a great dairy-free product.

  • I'm a huge fan of oat milk. As a vegetarian who has mild lactose intolerance, I have been using dairy substitutes for years and I've tired of the taste of almond milk, so I've moved on to the creaminess of oat milk. I've tried the Oatly product on several occasions and found it to be a very well-balanced and well-flavored oat milk.
