Reviews mention

  • Smooth-writing gel pens
  • Thoughtful minimalist design
  • Durable storage organizers
  • Calming in-store atmosphere
  • Boxy apparel fits
  • Occasional pen smudging
  • Inconsistent clothing quality
  • Flimsy cleaning tools

Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

  • I love everything I've gotten from Muji! I wish there was one closer to where I live so I could use exclusively their stationary. I love their body wash and organizers as well.

  • I love Muji! I’ve never been disappointed in a product I have bought from the brand and enjoy its clean simple design. The price point is also great too. It’s great for basics and classics. Highly recommend!!!

  • Muji, I love you. I have purchased a product from every corner of your store and have loved them all. You're my go-to for everything!

  • The only pens I will ever use. I also love the experience in their stores - I feel so zen right away. So of course I got the aroma diffuser and scented oils for it. I keep it at my bedside and have successfully recreated the zen in my own room. It also creates a great warm light before going to sleep.

  • Wide range of very affordable products, very reliable. Tons of fun little knick knacks as well

  • Reliable, quality goods and well-priced. Their retail experiences are consistent across the globe - always clean, calm, and great-smelling. Their diffusers and oils are fantastic. Food and snacks are worth a try. Love their home goods.

Would love more brick-and-mortar retail sites.

  • Muji is a favorite store of mine to visit in Japan. The stores in the US are much more limited in terms of products and variety, but the quality of the goods remains the same. Muji places a huge emphasis on recycling, low-waste in production and packaging, and being a "no-logo" brand. Their stuff is affordable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. I personally adore their no-fragrance skincare line, especially the High Moisturizing Toning Water, as well as their stationary and essential oils and diffusers.

My online orders have taken a considerable time to ship. The clothing can also be hit or miss - some don't wash well and sizing can be inconsistent.

  • The Muji store is amazing. There are so many awesome products...it's a bit like IKEA but with an Asian flare. I love the simplicity of their products and the way they display their offerings.

  • Muji is my favorite brand for at-home and office essentials. I personally love going into the stores more than shopping on their site (which is odd for me). They have pretty much everything you would ever need to buy for your life including staples for your kitchen (dishes, cookware, food), bedroom (sheets, pillows), office (tons of notebooks, pens, binders, paper, pencils, stamps...), and general life (essential oils & diffusers, clothing, accessories). It's like a Japanese IKEA but better office/desk supplies.

Really amazing minimalist high quality products for the price. Website isn't a great user experience and shipping times to US are pretty long.

  • It's a shame my local Muji stores all closed down during the pandemic, but I will be a long-term fan of their stationery products including pens and notebooks in all sizes. Their acrylic organizers and beanbags are also all fantastic, keep up well, and are versatile for any style. Their fair pricepoint and lack of any flashy logos makes their items a good minimal addition without ever being an eyesore.

  • I LOVE MUJI SO MUCH! For all things - stationary, bedding, glassware, organization, clothing... So minimal, clean, and reasonably priced. And good quality! Highly recommend, and it's always a mental treat to go to a store and peruse.

Not anything for improvement, just know that you obviously won't be able to get anything and everything here, and it's a very specific aesthetic. They stick to their lane, which I appreciate.

  • Such a wide array of functional and affordable home items, clothing, and stationary. I wish the MUJIs in the US had the same food selections as the stores in Japan as well!

  • When I shop at Muji I get that same tingle in my stomach that seven year old me got when I got to go back to school shopping. The paper, the pens, the chic Japanese design. SO addictive. Glad we finally got one of these stores close by. Now I’ll never run out of my favourite pens that write as smooth as butter.

  • Everything I’ve used from Muji (notebooks, pens, socks, towels) has been super affordable, great quality, and very tastefully designed. The quality is good for the price and you can afford to stock up. The colorful pens are my favorite!

  • Beautifully simplistic and clean. Gel pens are a must buy. Visit them in store to get embroidery!

  • Always been a fan of this brand's cosmetic containers, tea pots, kitchen items, blankets and cosmetic cases and backpacks. This is quintessial Japanese minimalism combined with functionality.

  • I love Muji products and tend to buy a lot of the stationery when I come in, and enjoy sampling their lotion products. Lovely store experience every time.

Price varies a lot but there are a lot of specific basics that feel more out of price than I think they should be (like clothes, kitchen containers, etc).

  • My go-to for storage!! Looove buying new containers from them to organize my closets, kitchen, etc. Their aesthetic is really clean and simple, but the materials also seem to be of good quality.
