Hatch earns strong reviews for genuinely improving sleep routines with gentle sunrise alarms, soothing white/brown noise, and kid-friendly light cues, but app glitches, Wi‑Fi dependence, and paywalled content frustrate users. Reviews of Hatch highlight sleek, minimalist design and reliable nightly use across years and households, while noting intermittent audio dropouts, limited free sounds, and finicky tap controls—making it effective yet imperfect.

I bought the Hatch Rest+ for my toddler as a last resort for his insanely early wakeups this summer (from the early sunrises). At first, it was fun! Very cool to be able to control it from my phone, and I liked the array of colors I can select for the light. Then I realized that the programs are literally the worst. Ever. If you are even a single minute off in calculating when the program changes, the sound is interrupted. If your kids are like my son, they will then wake up and absolutely refuse to go back to sleep. You also can’t change a program after it’s already running—want to extend your wake up light to go off an hour later because you forgot tomorrow is Saturday and you desperately want your kids to stay in bed for just a little longer? Too bad, you already set the light to “red in bed” and it will end at 6:30 am whether you like it or not. It’s a little hard to explain without actually owning it and playing around with it yourself, but hopefully you get the picture. I think if Hatch actually updated its apps/products across ALL generations every once in a while (versus just the newer ones) I might have a bit less buyer’s remorse. Another big (big big) issue is login problems. Multiple times, the app has kicked me out of my login for literally no reason, which means that instead of smoothly operating the Hatch Rest+ from my phone, I have to disrupt my child who is either asleep or about to be asleep, so I can select whatever light setting I have saved to my favorites. At this point, I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just go back to my old sound machine and night light—the ONLY thing that keeps me from doing that is the battery backup! I live in the (mostly) rural Northeast and in the winter, snowstorms frequently take out the power. So fingers crossed this thing will prove itself this winter!

if you love staring at your phone waiting for an app to load while your baby is screaming, this is the device for you. setting up favorite settings and trying to tap the rim while it malfunctions with a wailing baby in your arms is the best. you can never tell which button on the actual device is the volume or the light, or which one is up or down. even if you could see which button you're pressing it's not made for human hands. idk maybe a professional basketball player could use the buttons one handed with a baby in the other. we've returned and tried a new one 3 times with the same problems. wifi down? good luck with your screaming baby while you reset your router. it only takes 3 minutes with a screaming baby to reset the modem or restart your phone. god forbid the device came with a simple slide or dial to make things simple. also a great plus if you love having your phone out around your kids. i heard screen time is great for their development.

I have been using this brand of sound machines for years for my babies. When this combination came out, I thought great something for me. Yeah, no more fans are running to help me sleep. It's cute and practical and I'm getting lots of sleep. Love it!

I like that we can program specific settings for morning wake up, nap time and bedtime. We have separate sounds and colors displayed for bedtime and wake time to help babies start to differentiate. I love that we can control the settings for our separate hatch machines from the app.

The Rest+ asks us to update DAILY. The pop up is a daily annoyance no matter how many times we’ve updated it never sticks. I’m not sure if there’s something wrong with our software, the machine itself works fine even when we ignore the countless messages.

Hatch has changed my life when it comes to my morning routine. I love to get up early and Hatch really eased me back into those early mornings in a peaceful way. I've been using it for over a year and I especially love that it's quiet and calm enough to not wake my fiancé up.
Feedback
Getting into a morning routine can be difficult, but Hatch truly makes it so much easier to wake up in the mornings. I highly recommend this product if you're interested in becoming a morning person!

I received one of these as a baby shower gift... I now have 3 hatches and 1 baby. I kept one for my room, put one in his room, and have one at my moms for when he is there. I cannot sleep without it. I love that is controlled via app & that I don't have to sneak back in my sons room to turn it on if we forget.

I have the hatch rest and the hatch rest + and absolutely love both. I wish there was a wireless charging base option for travel.

The Hatch is a staple in our house! I love that I can connect to it from my phone and control the lighting and volume. This is better than any sound machine on the market! I wish we had one in every room.
Feedback
The only thing I wish the brand offered is a wireless option so that it didn’t have to be plugged into one place all the time.

Hatch saved my life...literally. If you are a mom, remember the different "sleep regressions" your baby goes through? If it wasn't for our hatch, I truly would have never had sleep. The app is super easy to use and awesome that I don't need to go into my baby's room to adjust any settings, there are so many colors and noises to pick from. Our favorite is a low red light with light static...the perfect ingredients to help a baby to fall asleep. Thank you, Hatch!

I love my Hatch products! I have the Restore and my girls use the Rest in their rooms. The sounds are soothing, and they look beautiful in the bedrooms.
Feedback
Only complaint is the paid subscription for Restore functions. I understand the purpose but I get less use out of it because of that.

I used the hatch sleep app along with their sound machine/night light for my baby since he was a newborn. He's a toddler now and still uses it every single night. This brand has great quality products and I will definitely be investing with them again when I have another child!
Feedback
I wish I could upload my own sounds for the sound machine. They offer great options, but daycare got my babe stuck on a particular lullaby and it would've been great to just play it from the hatch machine.

I love our Hatch! It has helped our kids sleep since the night we came home from the hospital! I love all the color and sound options it has to offer!

I don’t think we need any improvement, we love it how it is!

I think this product works okay when functioning properly, but it can be very finnicky with the app control system. It would often be difficult to load the app and make changes to the Hatch. Often when travelling we would encounter issues of not being able to connect our app to the Hatch, which was frustrating. The tap functionality was spotty; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. It was confusing to figure out what was supposed to be happening. The other issue is that the sound machine function started to experience intermittent blips in sound. So it would cut out temporarily and then start up again a few minutes later. Unfortunately, we set it so that our child would know when the sound machine turned off that it was time to get up. This caused a problem because the Hatch would temporarily stop working so he thought it was time to get up, even though it wasn't.
Feedback
Better functionality with the app. Better functionality with the tap feature. Better functionality of the sound machine feature.

Our little one’s bedroom is far from sound proof. The slightest noise seems amplified in there. The Hatch Baby is invaluable for getting her to sleep and keeping her that way. The ability to put various sounds on a timer has been key (louder volume while the rest of the house is still up automatically gives way to quieter noise after the adults go to bed).
Feedback
More options around programming would be great (especially ability to vary the programming by day of the week).

We have two of the Hatch lights, one for each of our kid's rooms. I love that you can adjust the colors, sounds and volume from our phones.
