GOODLES reviews and discussion

Reviews mention

  • Creamy, satisfying cheese sauce
  • Al dente, springy noodles
  • High‑protein, fiber‑rich formulation
  • Playful, distinctive flavor variety
  • Inconsistent, muted flavor execution
  • Salty, high‑sodium sauce
  • Small, unsatisfying portions
  • Occasional digestive discomfort reports

GOODLES earns strong reviews as a tastier, higher‑protein, high‑fiber upgrade to classic boxed mac and cheese, with many praising creamy, cheesy flavors (Shella Good, Cheddy Mac, Twist My Parm, Down The Hatch) and al dente noodles. However, reviews flag inconsistent flavor execution (especially Cacio e Pepe and some vegan options), occasional watery or bland sauces, high sodium, small portions, and reports of stomach discomfort; shoppers who prioritize nutrition over pure nostalgia find it a compelling pantry staple, while purists may prefer Annie’s or Kraft.

  • I like to keep mac and cheese on hand for the nights where I don't want to cook a meal and previously, I kept the Trader Joe's m&c or some Annie's on hand. After getting a few ads for these and then seeing them on thingtesting, I decided to go out to my local target immediately and grab a box and I'm glad I did! I got the Shella Good and Cheesy Mac and made the Shella Good, and immediately placed an order for more. It's cheesy in a way that no other brand is. Normally, I sprinkle some shredded cheese on top of my m&c and there was no need for it with this! I also love that it's fortified with extra protein and fiber.

I would recommend grabbing from your local target instead of ordering online to avoid paying $7 for shipping.

  • I must say I've never been the biggest fan of boxed mac and cheese, and Goodles definitely didn't change my mind. That being said, the preparation is almost exactly the same, and taste-wise was almost identical. All of the flavors really packed a punch and there was an undeniable small/taste of the various cheeses. Cheddar tasted like Kraft mac, aged white cheddar shells was my favorite, Cacio e pepe had a strong fresh cracked pepper taste, and twist my parm was so cheesy I couldn't handle it.

Side note: it was so tough to rip open the boxes! There was a punctured hole that allowed the pasta to pour out, but I had to aggressively rip the entire box top off to get the cheese packet out.

  • We got the variety pack. The classic “Cheddy Mac” was nowhere near as good as blue box Kraft, and tasted noticeably worse than your average boxed mac and cheese with normal pasta. However, the “Shella Good” was basically a perfect dupe of Annie’s Shells and White Cheddar, my personal favorite boxed mac. I think because the shells are naturally more al dente than an elbow noodle, the difference in the chickpea pasta (vs. normal wheat) was less noticeable. I’d probably get them again, but then again, I’m not exactly worried about my protein or fiber when I eat mac and cheese so I’m not sure why I’d spend more on this stuff.

I guess I wish the Cheddy Mac tasted less like a ‘healthy’ pasta. The texture is noticeably, I dunno, crumbier? Drier? It just wasn’t great. I also would like them to try and make their products Certified Organic, or at least the main ingredients.

  • I love these products as nutrient-rich and protein-packed macaroni and cheese options for my family. While others have noted issues with the texture of the noodle, I have not found that to be the case.

  • The GOODLES Mac and Cheese was delicious! Love the clean alternative that I can feel good after consuming it. Good nutrition profile too. The mission of the brand was great to see. I can’t wait to try the different flavors.

  • I've tried a different couple products from this brand, and they're all delicious. My favorite would be the protein mac and cheeses, such a great idea to add protein, and it's great to feed to my kid because the taste and texture is indistinguishable from regular macs.

  • Goodles is the best boxed mac n cheese I have ever tried. The white cheddar was so flavorful, rich and creamy. I am very impressed at the quality. The price is very fair as well. I will definitely be trying more flavors.

  • This is my favorite brand of mac & cheese to feed to my toddler. I love that there is low sugar and high protein in it for him. My husband and I also eat it because it is so good. The cheddar flavor is our favorite.

  • This is a high quality instant mac and cheese that has a variety of different cheesy flavors to choose from. I like to eat this over the cheaper stuff because I know I will not feel too guilty consuming it.

  • Also known as Gal Gadot's brand! Mac and cheese is such a guilty pleasure of mine but these make me feel a bit cooler. The deluxe one with the sauce pouch saves me so much time, I definitely like them more than the powder milk mix type.

  • I tend to prefer pasta alternatives cause I like more protein and fiber, and im a bit gluten intolerant. Despite the gluten, I tried Noodles pasta and loved it. Tastes exactly like Kraft Mac and cheese - so nostalgic but so much more healthy

  • These are so good! Regular boxed macaroni ans cheese leaves me feeling weighed down and yucky after eating it but I always feel great after eating goodles! The flavor isn’t even better than other brands too

  • Goodles has alot of delicious grown up flavors to choose from. It is a nutritious mac and cheese that is high in protein and fiber. The cheese sauce is so creamy and rich. It is quick and easy to prepare and the prefect meal for a lazy weeknight when I don't feel like cooking!

  • It's okay, I like that it has hidden veggies and the protein content is higher than others but some of the ingredients need to be a little more fine tuned to make it a healthier choice. The sodium is very high too. The packaging is fun and eye-catching.

  • Every single time I've had a goodles product it's been so high quality and delicious! Sometimes mac and cheese is really bland especially when it comes in a box with a powder, but this brand always has a nice flavor and good cheesey tang

  • i love goodles, i have it all the time. my favorite is the shells one but the hatch chile flavor is also pretty good. its super expensive so i only buy it at costco/on sale but when i catch it i love it so much

  • I love this brand. The white cheddar shells reminded me of a more natural-tasting velveeta. Easy to prepare, creamy, and made with natural, nutrient-dense ingredients. The nutritional profile is really impressive. I'm not sure how they formulate the pasta to include so many vegetables, but I seriously could not taste a difference from traditional brands in terms of the texture or flavor. I boosted the fiber and protein even more by adding some cottage cheese and broccoli. An easy, balanced meal that picky kids would eat.

  • I'm always looking for high fiber alternatives to popular existing products, and Goodles really hits the mark here. Great flavor with some fun twists, and I can feel good eating it knowing it's more nutritious than traditional boxed mac and cheese.

  • I like this mac & cheese. I prefer the powder to the "deluxe" (but worse) sauce packets but that's not specific to this brand. I appreciate high fiber in something that tastes just as good as the less-healthy version.

  • The mac and cheese is okay. I probably would not buy it over the cheaper stuff as it is more expensive for similar taste.
