  • If you're looking to add sme incredible flavor to the blandest of meals, look no further! I was gifted this by a friend and my world has never been the same since. I eat it with everything but my favorites are pairing it with some extra firm tofu or with dumplings!

  • My new favorite store bought hot oil. Pairs well on anything and everything. The flavor is amazing!

  • Fly by Jing's Sichuan Chili Crisp, Zhong Sauce, and Chili Crisp Vin are staples for my fridge. They all add a nice kick to chicken wings, noodle dishes, salads, and stir fries. Places like Target sell it for ~$11-12 per container, and they last since a little goes a long way. The website also has recipes posted for inspiration.

  • Add this to everything, you will not regret it! Unless you add it to your bath water, then maybe you’ll regret it. Add it to anything you can eat! Let’s go with that.

  • I love the branding and most of all, the flavor. Their successful marketing has made Sichuan sauces available in so many more places, and I appreciate the ability to eat the way I want, easily! The zhong sauce is my favorite and a classic in our pantry already.

  • I loved it on the soup and dumplings I made. It has the perfect amount of heat I can put it on anything. It transforms the edible food I have into food that is truly delicious.

  • Great chili crisp, I use it instead of butter when making eggs.

  • Over-branded and underwhelming. Great crunch, mediocre flavor. Mostly just an oily mess. Pairs well with any rice or noodle dish. Easy to open bottle. Just not worth the money snd hype. Better options exist and with better flavor packed in.

  • I appreciate the company’s values in sticking by their all natural ingredients, and being vegan which can be difficult to find a good sauce for in stores for dumplings and stir fry. At first I was hesitant about the jar and size, but the jar packaging creates a better method to measure out just the right amount of sauce for each dish. I am sadly a victim to always over-pouring from pour-top sauce bottles, and that’s a wasteful moment in my kitchen. So, there’s plenty of sauce in the smaller Fly by Jing jars, just remember a little goes a long way! The chili crisp is already a staple in my kitchen, (I rotate between Momofuku’s chili crunch and Jing’s depending on what’s available) so for this review I tried out the Zhong Sauce. It’s a perfect combination of savory and sweet with a little bit of heat to bring so many home-cooked dishes to that next level. I predict this will become a regular purchase for me in the future as the ingredients are quality in comparison to other brands, and I simply don’t have the time to whip up a restaurant quality (and vegan) sauce like Jing has perfected. Also, if you happen to run out of dish ideas to use the sauces in, on their website they provide an incredible amount of free recipes to use the sauces with! I am happy to support this company not only for their products but also for their overall thoughtfulness towards their customers.

  • If you're not used to authentic Chinese food, this is great. It's not super spicy, but that's also why it lacks in flavor. The lack of spiciness unfortunately equates to lack of flavor with this one. It tastes like a blend that you would see in a hole-in-the-wall spot in the San Gabriel Valley (the real "Chinatown" of California), minus the extra full body that you would find in their chili oil. In those chili oils, if you ignored the spice component, there's a nice aroma that nestles in the nose hairs for a bit before it grates the end of the nostrils. The flavor coats the tastebuds a bit with a hint of floral sweet, strong allium umami, and a punch of fragrant oil. For me, that doesn't happen (enough) with this sauce. I bought the Triple Threat when the brand first came out. The zhong sauce I think was my preferred of the three (and what I reviewed). I didn't even bother ever opening the other two bottles after trying them, which is why I forgot I had bought them. With the Zhong sauce, I liked it at first, but would question what would be missing, and then found myself having to spice it up. It didn't feel like it garnered the high price tag, especially if my homemade one turned out better. Sorry :(

  • ive used it once ao far, and plan to use it more, it adds a nice tangy zing to things, makes the chicken taste delicious. trying again soon, will update. Current update February 4th 2024, I just used the flyby Jane in the base of the soup I made when I was making chicken and dumplings and it seems like it had a pretty big impact I mean the flavor of my soup was phenomenal I dumped things were delicious and yeah between that and red wine vinegar, I think those were the key ingredients, honestly.

  • I wanted to love this brand as I was seeing so many wonderful things about the woman founder. Their website is amazing and their design is on fire—that caught my eye and I was obsessed as a fellow e-commerce nerd. The chili crisp is delicious, but I fear it's all marketing and the extra price you're paying is not for a great locally sourced product, but rather their marketing costs. I had a disappointing experience where my dumplings arrived all totally melted in a big blob, and it was impossible to contact a human at this company. Their CX is totally automated to the point that it leaves their social media accounts as the only valid avenue for communication, thus precipitating a wrath of unnecessary hate. The founder uses this to her advantage in PR, citing the haters as fueling her to go harder. But I read it as a lot of really frustrated people that just need to talk to someone and feel heard, and they don't want to hate, they just want to have reliable support. For a young company good support is fundamental, so hope they can improve here and turn their users into absolute evangelists, because their product is delicious!

  • This chili crisp is heavenly. Point blank. Though, to note– if you're used to a typical chili crisp, it might not be for you. Its Sichuan spices hit the sinuses, bringing a harmonious, numbing heat that plays so nicely with other ingredients. Fermented black bean introduces a rich layer of umami that will have you going back for more. Fly by Jing has become one of my most vital pantry staples.

  • Love the branding and design - stands out in Whole Foods. The Sichuan Chili Crisp spice level is excellent. It’s not overpowering but clearly gets the heat going. Need to mix with a spoon before serving as the chilis get stuck toward bottom of jar while refrigerated.

  • I was gifted the Zhong sauce for Christmas and it’s SO good! A little bit, goes a LONG way but it adds so much flavor and an extra kick to my Asian-inspired meal prep. If you have a low heat tolerance, then please only use a tiny pinch. Only downside is the package is pretty oily and it seeps. Highly recommend trying at least once!

  • Hy husband loves this spicy kick. The sauce pairs with pretty much anything. The chili flakes with the oil are just out of this world good. Would recommend taking your tastebuds on a ride!

  • I was a bit skeptical at first but if you love the Lao Gan Ma one but want it more flavorful and less spicy this is perfect for you! (It is still spicy but more on the aromatic side vs straight up spice)

  • This is so freaking good. I’ve been eating it everyday since I got it. It is a mild- med spice so some people won’t like it. I love this. I’m looking to try more items of this brand

  • We were gifted the Zhong Sauce for my birthday and it was halfway gone by the end of the party. We really enjoy it in pasta and on meat when we put it in the air fryer. It gives a nice crisp without burning. The flavor is strong but not overwhelming if you are used to asian flavors. I'd say that although it is flavorful, it starts to taste monotonous. We tend to mix it with a garlic chili oil for extra heat or coconut milk to give it a nice creamy flavor. Overall, I recommend giving it a try!

  • I was really excited to test this when it first came out, but I was quite disappointed in the sichuan/mala chili flavors. In comparison to my OG Lao Gan Ma chili crisp, the Fly by Jing has no depth to its flavor. It’s pretty bland for a mala flavor. It’s lacking some sweetness and umami to balance out the spicy. It’s a good chili oil, but not the one you want if you want the ultimate flavor bomb profile. It could compliment some already tasty dishes though, so I would say there’s still space for this in anyone’s kitchen. The packaging and design of the label are top tier tho, v fun.
