E.l.f asserts real performance in reviews: Power Grip Primer, Camo Concealer, Halo Glow, and Brow Lift win praise for long wear, grip, and flattering finishes, while wide shade variety and cruelty‑free, vegan formulas impress. Reviews also flag inconsistencies—hit‑or‑miss formulas, sticky primers, creasing concealers, some products drying out or lacking longevity, occasional irritation for sensitive skin, flimsy packaging, and smaller product amounts—making the brand strong for staples and experimentation but not flawless.

I’ve tried a lot of different products, and I love them all. Primers and bronzers are my go to products, but I reach for so many and I’m constantly trying new things because they are so affordable. I know if I splurge a little I’m gonna get a quality product, and then I’ll get a couple more things! It’s a bit of an addiction.

I love how affordable this cruelty-free brand is. I also find the products to be beginner-friendly, which is a big bonus for me. I have been learning how to use makeup, and these E.l.f. products have been a staple for me!

I remember when e.l.f. launched, and they’ve come a LONG way since their earliest products. The brand’s trajectory has been pretty consistently upward. That said, this is a very utilitarian brand, sort of the white crew socks of the makeup aisle. Everyone has them and uses them, you can even make looks that highlight them, but they’re not something to get excited about. This is a great brand for starter products. If you’re just learning how to do makeup or experimenting with a new product or technique, e.l.f. is a one-stop shop for a middle-of-the-pack example of virtually any product. There’s a handful of duds, a handful of gems, but on the whole the group has mediocre performance, formulas, and shade selection, at a price point where you can’t feel bad wasting product on experimentation. There are two exceptions to this: their skincare and their brushes. The brushes are exceptional and consistently outperform brushes 10x their price in my kit. Their stipple brush and eyeshadow brushes are my favorites I own in those categories, and because they’re so cheap I can actually afford to buy duplicates for my travel kit too. I wish they weren’t made or packaged with so much plastic, but for brushes that deliver consistently over almost a decade I’m willing to forgive the material. The skincare, on the other hand, is fairly overpriced in my opinion. The formulas are basic, the packaging is plastic-y and uninspired, and even their hydration line was too drying for my extremely tolerant skin. There are much better and cheaper drugstore skincare options out there that are widely available.
Elf has a wide range of products that are often the hefty dupes of high-end brands. I have tried several of their mascaras and other products through the years and I always had a very good feedback for them.
I recently tried the e.l.f. Cosmetics Concealer, and it's become a staple in my makeup routine. As someone who values affordability without compromising on quality, this product has pleasantly surprised me. While the coverage is generally impressive, some may find it necessary to build up the product for more stubborn blemishes or intense dark circles. However, the lightweight formula makes layering easy without the risk of looking overly made up. Considering its affordability, the e.l.f. Concealer offers excellent value for money. The quality you receive at such an accessible price point is impressive, making it a fantastic option for those on a budget or anyone looking to expand their makeup collection without breaking the bank.
I use their holy hydration moisturizer, their primers, eyeshadow and bronzer. I love that this is a cruelty free line and it's also extremely affordable. The moisturizer goes on light and doesn't feel greasy or tacky. The have fragrance free options (what I use), which is nice because I don't want to smell perfume on my face. I have been using E.l.f. for probably almost a decade now and every once in a while I will stray and try other moisturizers, but I always come back. If you become a member online you can earn points on every purchase and then get full size stuff free with your points so you try more stuff or get more of the things you already use and love.
Love elf! I've been using their products for years and love how they keep up with the trends at a very affordable price.
It’s a great affordable drug store buy in a jamb.
I'm a pretty simple girl that does pretty simple makeup. Elf makes that easy for me. And they're affordable!
Only primer I use now. Makes any makeup look flawless.

Really great formulas for an affordable price! One of the only drugstore brands doing it right. The hydrating core lip shine is a fave.
My holy grail primer. Keeps my makeup looking like skin and on all day.

It's affordable with decently clean ingredients for the price. What's not to love! I use the sun stick often, as well sa the concealer. They also make great mascara. I didn't notice much of a difference with the bronzer drops, but maybe I wasn't using them correctly? They have given out a few instagram freebies over the years, which is how I got to try a handful of their items!
I use the brow pencil and love the brush on the end. I also use the felt tip eyeliner and have a ton of their brushes. Their brushes are a great value for the quality!
the liquid eyeliner is easy to apply and I often receive compliments - stays on all day
This brand always outdoes itself in providing excellent dupes and high quality versions of higher cost luxury items. I can’t live without the mascara and tinted sunscreen!
