Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • It's the adult version of Apples to Apples, and worth all the hype.

    Feedback

    I want a 1-3 player version!

  • Was fun for a bit but could get old real fast! You'd have to continue buying different packs to keep things interesting

  • It's fun and creates many laughs. Can be PG-13.

    Feedback

Not much. I think it has expanded a lot!

  • Love the game and get funny responses every time! Great for people with inappropriate sense of humor.

    Feedback

I wish there were more options to play games with the cards you have instead of being forced to pay for expansion packs. Otherwise variety of questions and answers can be limited.

  • It's so hard to hate these guys. They keep pushing the bounds on their creativity with marketing, and for anyone who can't afford the official card game, you can print it out for free on their website. It's not necessarily a game I play often, but I admire the company's core values whenever they pop up in my news feed.

  • The game gets boring very, very quickly. I genuinely think the game is only fun for one, maybe two, playthroughs, and then its the same sexual and gory jokes over and over. If someone pulls this out a party it gets audible groans

  • With the right company, this can be a game that will have you rolling in laughter for an hour or so with your friends. I’m not much of a game person and this is perfect for those who aren’t! It’s great as an icebreaker or to test the limits of your friends mortality.

  • One of the best card games out there. I don't play cards very much but this game was so easy to learn and effortlessly fun. Highly recommend for game nights or getting to know just how dark your friends’ humor can be.

  • Great game and super fun to play with friends, but have urban dictionary bookmarked. After several plays though, it gets a little repetitive and boring. They have introduced card extender packs, which you can buy if you're a real fan of the game.

  • Bought the original card game years ago when it was still fresh, and absolutely love it still.

    Feedback

I wish the bigger storage box wasn't an additional expense, and they had a packaged bundle that added it.

  • Made for lots of laughs, a few awkward moments, mostly just good (not clean) fun. Have to play with different groups of people or it gets predictable.

  • If you play more than once, you go through the cards fast and need to get expansion packs.

  • Cards Against Humanity is a fabulously inappropriate hilarious game. Mix it with good friends and humor you understand, and it makes for the best time.

    Feedback

Best played with more than 4 people.

  • A fun game to play with your friends whilst drunk. It's definitely a fun activity with a big group, and there's enough expansion packs to go around to make this an even more fun, ridiculous time.

  • Cards Against Humanity is an easy-to-learn card game that certainly breaks ice. It's a great time, however, how good of a time you have definitely depends on the company and whether or not you share the same sense of humor. It's also great that it's super simple to play so you don't have to spend 20 minutes trying to explain the rules to everyone.

The game is a bit pricey for what is pretty much a stack of cards, but it is a good time with the right crowd. Some of the cards on their on are downright hilarious too.

  • Fun and easy game to play with groups, however, maybe not the best for certain people. The prompts do get stale after a few rounds of playing, so the expansion packs are likely needed to make this an anytime game.

  • This was a staple college game for me. It’s fun and interesting at first, but it can quickly get boring. In order to keep things fresh, you do have to purchase the expansion packs. It is a good starting game, but you might eventually move on to something else.

  • Cards Against Humanity is interesting because it can either be a fun party game where you try to make your friends laugh at ridiculous answers to their prompt, or you can learn that your new acquaintance is just a lil racist/sexist/homophobic/etc. There are definitely some problematic cards within the deck. But I think if you know what you're getting into the game can be a great time; just know your audience and maybe more importantly, know yourself.

  • Never have had a bad time playing this game! It's one of my favorites to grab for a night in with friends.

Would love to see refreshed cards/new pack options so you don't get bored playing over and over.
