Byredo Reviews

Best of Thingtesting4.6

Byredo wins praise in reviews for evocative, unisex fragrances—standouts include Mojave Ghost, Bal d’Afrique, Gypsy Water, Bibliothèque, and Rose of No Man’s Land—paired with minimalist, luxe packaging and memorable unboxing. The brand is good for nuanced, wearable scents and candles, but recurring complaints cite inconsistent longevity, soft projection, and very high prices; some note uneven candle burn and a few underwhelming cosmetics.

  • I learned about Byredo while traveling in Copenhagen a few years ago. I got Blanche because the salesperson told me it would be a good “clean” scent like what I’d been smelling on everyone throughout the trip. Unfortunately, the scent has a bit of a sharp component that bothers my nose, and it doesn’t last very long. I also got a Gypsy Water roll-on and I like that scent, but it’s more for nighttime.

  • Woody and calm in a way that just feels intentional. It's not trying to grab attention but it has presence. Warm, serious, the kind of scent that makes you feel like you have your life together a little more than usual. It lasts, which at this price you'd hope for but don't always get. Put it on in the morning and it's still with you by dinner. I reach for it when the occasion calls for something thoughtful. A nice dinner, a day where you want to feel put together. Not a party scent, not background noise. It just feels like the grown up choice and I mean that as a compliment. Worth every penny.

  • Love the “mixed emotions” perfume scent!

  • Somebody tell me why I was feeling intimidated by Byredo in the past? Sometimes fragrances can feel overly complex and give me a headache. I actually really like their fragrances... at least the ones I picked were easy to wear and not too strange for my basic nose. I picked up the Bal d'Afrique since it was the most popular one and I can wear it every day. I love myself a fancy handsoap for my guests so felt that Yuzu Tree would be easy to please. I also got the eyeshadow palette in which itself is like a piece of art. Very happy with the colors. I liked that it was "corporate colours" but has some fun shimmer too. Shipping was literally around the busy holiday season and I was provided immediate notice that it would be running a little late but honestly I didn't even notice it being delayed at all. Lastly, I got to pick two samples - La Tulipe and Blanche. I think Blanche will be my next purchase!
