Byredo Reviews

Best of Thingtesting4.6

Byredo earns largely positive reviews for sophisticated, unisex fragrances like Gypsy Water, Bal d’Afrique, Mojave Ghost, and Rose of No Man’s Land, with chic minimalist packaging and, for many, all‑day wear. Reviews also flag inconsistency: some scents have weak projection or short longevity, certain items (lipstick, mascara, hair perfumes) disappoint, and a few finds smell overly powdery or sharp; still, the brand’s layered compositions and standout candles keep fans repurchasing.

  • I learned about Byredo while traveling in Copenhagen a few years ago. I got Blanche because the salesperson told me it would be a good “clean” scent like what I’d been smelling on everyone throughout the trip. Unfortunately, the scent has a bit of a sharp component that bothers my nose, and it doesn’t last very long. I also got a Gypsy Water roll-on and I like that scent, but it’s more for nighttime.

  • I ordered the Rose of No Man’s Land around the holidays; it smells like a memory of a garden. Very similar to the Baies but a fresher scent. It smells floral without being too sweet. I get compliments every time I wear it. Staying power is probably a 7/10, and deserves a touch up during the day but still lingers if you smell closely. Unrelated to the scent: you get to pick a few options for testers which are generously packed & I also got a tote bag that is very practical for the winter. Overall, it’s a luxe product I’ll be back for in the future! Pricey, but I guess everyone knows that

  • My Byredo purchase shipped pretty quickly. I ordered a sample set that includes tulipe, blanche, and rose of no man's land. I typically like fresh scents that aren't too "air freshener" as well as some more musky scents. Unfortunately, Blanche smelled to me like a bathroom cleaning product. Tulipe was nice and floral, but not anything that unique. Rose of no man's land is definitely unique and I'm still undecided if I like it or not, it's not the typical rose scent you'd expect. I'm thinking they'll be nicer if I combine them. I got a sample of bal d'afrique, which I ended up really loving. I wish I got the full size of that instead of the rose. If you're looking for something unique but pretty universally nice smelling, get that one. I think they all have pretty good lasting power, especially when sprayed on fabric. I would suggest definitely smelling in person before ordering online, if possible, despite the notes indicated online. I still gave it a 4 even though I didn't love the scents because I think that's pretty personal, since the lasting power is quite good.

  • Woody and calm in a way that just feels intentional. It's not trying to grab attention but it has presence. Warm, serious, the kind of scent that makes you feel like you have your life together a little more than usual. It lasts, which at this price you'd hope for but don't always get. Put it on in the morning and it's still with you by dinner. I reach for it when the occasion calls for something thoughtful. A nice dinner, a day where you want to feel put together. Not a party scent, not background noise. It just feels like the grown up choice and I mean that as a compliment. Worth every penny.
