Reviews mention

  • Contoured footbed support
  • Long‑lasting construction
  • Iconic versatile styles
  • Adjustable strap fit
  • Painful break‑in period
  • Water‑sensitive cork sole
  • Inconsistent sizing width
  • Odor with summer sweat

BIRKENSTOCK earns strong reviews for comfort that improves as the contoured cork footbed molds to the foot and for durability that can span years, with icons like Arizona, Boston, Mayari, and EVA slides praised for everyday wear. Reviews also flag drawbacks: a painful break‑in for many, sizing confusion and wide fit, soles and cork that can crack or wear quickly (especially when wet), occasional odor and chafing in heat, and mixed experiences for flat or very high arches.

  • The old-school mainstay that I cannot get enough of. I have multiple pairs, from sandals to clogs, and I love them all. The fit and comfort only gets better with time, and the style is timeless IMHO.

  • Got my first pair of birks 2 months ago and I tried to break them in within a week of my vacation. Biggest mistake of my life. I still have blisters from them - initial ones healed and I kept getting more blisters after in the same exact spot. It’s the worst. Took a bit to get used to though. I haven’t seen anyone say about how uncomfortable they are until they’re broken in. I wish I knew that. Still, I do like them and what they do for my feet.

  • My Arizona Birks are a go to for me. The break-in period is tough but once they’re molded to your foot they’re great. The occasional Blister happens still if I walk in them a lot but I should probably just wear sneakers in those cases.

  • Love my Arizonas. Very adjustable & love the variety of colors. I wish there were more options for footbed material, as the cork can stain feet brown and wear down.

  • I wear my Birkenstock Boston clogs year round (in the winter with socks). They are an amazingly comfortable shoe to just throw on and run to the grocery store or do errands, and can be dressed up or down. I plan on getting one of the shearling lined pairs in the future! I have also had a hand me down pair of the sandals in the past and love those too. Sizing can be a little bit different is my only complaint!

  • You know a good product when you see it👌

  • i love birkenstocks for their comfort and ergonomics. some of the styles run narrow but are overall good for wider/flatter feet.

  • Birkenstocks are the only shoe you ever need! Each season you can find something from this brand that you can rock for months at a time. Living in California where I have to drive to snow, I still get so much use out of my clogs that I slip them on to have an easy shoe post skiing to comfort my tired feet. A++++

  • I have had 2 very comfortable Arizona Birks so far in my adult life. My first pair lasted me almost 3 years and were the MOST comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I wore them 95% of the time. They kind of mold to your feet so fit perfectly. The second pair I got was fully black leather and I had to break them in, which took about 3 weeks. I was concerned at first because they gave me blisters on my toes (unlike my first pair) but was told by an associate to give some time for the leather to soften up. I paid about $200 for the leather ones but many of my friends have the plastic ones which are much cheaper and still SUPER cute! Not sure about the comfort level. I have my eye set on the slip-on clogs as a future purchase!

  • Been wearing Birks since high school. Have worn the slip-ons, the strappy sandals type, and the full whites. Love them all. Definitely a tad pricey compared to what I like to spend on shoes, but worth it.

  • I live my Birkenstocks! I have had them for years, and they are still a staple in my everyday wardrobe. I have flat feet, and I believe they have helped with my arch. They do take a while to break in when you first get them, but they are worth it.

  • my summer must-have! They're comfortable and the style goes with almost all my outfits, so I'm 100% behind them.

  • I have lived Birkenstocks since I was a kid! I live in Arizonas from May-August and Bostons from September-December. I only wish it was easier to get them resoled.

  • The plastic birks are nice for watering the garden but don’t leave them outside in the heat because I’ve heard they will shrink

  • best shoes on the planet! I finally got onboard as i used to think they made my feet look super big and wide and clown-like, but once i dove in I will never go back. I wear them ALL THE TIME and they are the most comfortable shoes. I love the fun designs and have the metallic rose gold ones and the white and gold snake skin pattern and i get so many compliments!!! Gilt often has great sales and so do other stores. i also got them for my dad, brother and best friend and everyone loves them!

  • I love my Birkenstocks, can be dressed up and down and feel more sustainable since you can easily resole them.

  • A great shoe worth the money. Molds to fit your foot and is high quality.
