Reviews mention

  • Sleek minimalist aesthetic design
  • Lightweight hard-shell construction
  • Smooth-rolling 360° wheels
  • Thoughtful interior compression system
  • Easily scuffed exterior surfaces
  • Occasional wobbly telescoping handle
  • Inconsistent zipper or mesh durability
  • Heavier, dent-prone aluminum shell

Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

  • Excellent product and worth buying again. I was satisfied with the quality, may even be better than what I normally purchase. I would definitely buy this again and will be trying the varieties offered.

  • I really like my away bag. The wheels feel sturdy and I really feel confident when I’m carrying it. I feel like I can pack more and a smaller space with my way back and I also really like all the new colors they’ve been coming out with. It makes me think I need more! I also really like the charging feature. You just have to be careful that your charging port doesn’t pop open and you don’t lose your battery. I’ve done that, it’s not great. They sell replacements on the website!

  • Sturdy, nice looking, reliable luggage! The wheels are perfect - no more stressing when you are filling off an airplane with people waiting behind you!

  • Flimsy but cute. Nicely affordable, trendy, and a good temporary carry-on, but I had to upgrade after a few years of use.

  • I have several away bags and I’m a huge traveler. So easy to navigate with these as they roll easily. Great design and I’m extremely happy with the collection.

  • I love my suitcases. I've had them for years. They're light, hold up well and are a good price point,

  • I’ve used the carry-ons, and I love the design, but I was a little concerned about how much the carry-on can fit, as well as how heavy the carry-on itself was.

  • Love my way carry-on, would love the large for future travels. Super convenient, lightweight and never having issue with it. fitting the overhead.

  • My suitcase has stood up to the elements! I have been very happy with my Away bag traveling through jungles, snow and harsh climates. The international USB converter has come in incredibly handy. My bag is going strong and certainly worth the value.

  • These are amazing for traveling far and needing to pack a lot!

  • Ever since Away launched, I've loved their minimalist look. They still do it best even with all the knock-offs. Because they're expensive (for my budget), I only have the larger carry-on. I've love to get the 24" as well, but even on sale it's pricey so I have a cheap, Amazon basics one that definitely doesn't hold up to airport beatings as well. I like how the interior is pretty minimal and sturdy - some suitcase liners feel like they're about to rip apart from the shell at any moment. My Away case is also easier to clean and they provide a magic eraser to use, which is a nice touch. While I don't think Away is revolutionary at this point, I still like it for its style and sturdiness over other brands at the same price point.

  • I bought two Away suitcases after getting frustrated with my aluminum Rimowa suitcases being dented and damaged after each flight. (I still use my Rimowa carry-on though because I actually use it as a seat if there are lines at customs or no open seats waiting to board the plane.) Given how much cheaper my Away suitcases were, as well as their comparable performance (in terms of wheels, zippers, handles, and capacity etc.) I feel really good about the trade. I also feel much safer using them when traveling internationally somewhere where opulent displays of wealth would be as unwise as they are unnecessary.

  • Wanted to love Away due to their lifetime warranty but the handle felt flimsy and the exterior felt thin and poorly made. I will stick with Monos.

  • I bought the Carry On Flex a couple of years ago when I was in my mid-twenties, and it was my first ~fancy~ luggage purchase. It glides sooo smoothly through airports and I love the built in lock! I'm really glad I purchased the flex option over the standard carry on because I'm an outrageous overpack who stuffs my luggage to the brim (and then has to jump and sit on it like I'm a cartoon to get it to zip shut). Even with it expanded and, seriously, as full as it could possibly be, I've never had an issue fitting in in the overhead containers on any plane. I've used it on ~8 flights since purchasing, and it has a handful of minor scratches now, but they're not really noticeable unless you're looking at it up close (I purchased the black color).

  • I have the aluminum away bag and I love it. I have the smaller size carryon bag and it’s great. I get compliments on it at the airport. It’s cheaper that some of the other luxury brands, but equal quality and appearance. It is a bit heavy but I don’t mind. I have friends that have the plastic one and it seems good too but less sturdy and attractive than the aluminum version. I also got the toiletry kit and I love how it fits perfectly in the suitcase. I will say I was tightening the straps inside once and it snapped a bit of the plastic divider for the clothes - that is disappointing but the bag still works fine overall.

  • LOVE Away bags, can't believe people still haven't heard about them. I have the XL carry on soft top, and love that it expands. The packing cubes are a game changer and high quality, and i love the way the everywhere bag fits on top of the carry on so nicely. It makes the packing process so stress-free!

  • There have been scratches on the suitcase after the first use. Besides that, it's very sturdy. The interior design deserves a praise. Overall, I like it but for the price, it shouldn't have been scratched that easily.

  • I've had my away suitcases for about 6 months and I enjoy them. They do get scuffed (especially when you check them) but I appreciate the luggage bags, the different compartments and the easy of rolling.
