Reviews mention

  • Reliable sun protection performance
  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing formulas
  • Iconic coconut-banana fragrance
  • Versatile application format range
  • Unpleasant lip balm taste
  • Occasional eye-stinging sprays
  • Potential irritation for sensitive skin
  • Difficult-to-blend mineral formulas

Sun Bum earns strong reviews for sunscreens that reliably prevent burns, absorb quickly, and deliver a signature beachy, coconut-banana scent, while offering formats from sprays and lotions to sticks and scalp mists. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some lip balms taste bad or feel oily, certain formulas can sting eyes or irritate sensitive skin, and mineral/zinc options don’t blend well, though many still praise the fragrance, ease of use, and broad range.

  • I have tried body sunscreen and I love itt. It doesn't feel sticky when applied and absorbs very quickly.

  • From roll on to spray to stick form, I haven't found a Sun Bum product that I didn't like. The SPF 70 spray and SPF 45 face spray are by my front door so I don't leave the house without either spraying them on first or taking them with me if it's a longer outdoor outing. They also smell really good, kind of like a banana coconut smoothie.

  • Sun Bum is a local company to me and it has been awesome to see them grow over the years. They now have awesome products in every industry which is awesome! I also get to hear stories from friends that work there about their amazing chemical processes and quality controlling.

  • Favorite sunblock for the past few years. I use their scented sunblock during the summer months and obsessed with the scent tbh. Summer in a bottle.

  • If you are sensitive to perfumed smells, Sun Bum might not be suitable for you. Whereas I love the Curl Styling Cream due to its light-weight consistency whilst giving defined curls (I have dry hair), the lip balm smelled a bit too strongly for a lip product. Also, it dried out my lips immediately.

  • Sun Bum products smell AMAZING and their package design is super cute. They've been launching more and more types of products over the years, I'm happy to see them expanding. The brand is very well known at this point, but if you haven't tried it yet, then try it! Products are reef safe & cruelty free. They also offer a variety of application methods from lotions to sprays to roll ons. I dig the variety of options. For reference, I regularly use their sunscreens both body and face, lip balm with SPF, and purple shampoo.

  • I love me some Sun Bum Original sunscreen. My fair-skinned BF and I recently spent a week on the beach with Sun Bum 30SPF in tow and neither of us burned. The light coconut scent is synonymous with relaxation and the lotion is light and not oily. Highly reccomend.

  • I love the packaging of all their products. So fun but neutral also. I haven't ever had any bad experience with their sunscreen and the kids love it. The hair products have all been nice and smell amazing.

  • Our "go to brand" for sunscreen! Extra bonus it is also reef safe!

  • The one positive about this product is that it taste really good, which is surprising for a lip balm with SPF. Besides that, it's complete inability to absorb into my skin made it uncomfortable to use because it just stayed as an oily layer on my lips.

  • Yes, Sun Bum Premium Moisturising Sunscreen SPF 50 will prevent sunburn. But at what cost? Using this stuff feels like you’re spraying yourself with pure grease. Your skin stays slick and greasy for hours, and you’ll leave an oily trail on anything you touch. The real nightmare begins if you get even a tiny mist of it in your eye. Forget splashing water — it’s so greasy that water just spreads the sting around. You need something that cuts through the grease and then stand under the shower blinking furiously. Eyes will sting for days.
