  • This is my second time buying Rosy houseplant soil - and my plants seem to like it! They seem to always perk up a bit after adding ins some new soil. One of my favorite features of the smaller size bag I bought previously was the resealable top - so I was sad to see that the bigger bag was NOT resealable. I don't have an outdoor potting area so I would love that feature on all bag sizes to help keep things clean and tidy for indoor storage! I also purchased the cactus & succulent soil for the first time - I'm eager to see if it helps my cactuses brave the colder temps and less daylight!

  • I’m shocked by the less than a week, dramatic change our peace lily made! Through research, we learned she was not draining the water and it was just sitting at the bottom of the planter; even though we had drain holes and rocks, we feared root rot. Insert ROSY AROID SOIL TO THE RESCUE! This soil specifically helps with drainage and literally changed our houseplant almost overnight! The before and after photos speak for themselves and now I am hooked as a Rosy Soil customer. The first photo is Saturday and the next one is Monday, the droop is completely gone! Look at how tall and proud she is now!

  • Rosy Soil's big selling point is that their Houseplant Soil is peat-free, which I appreciate from an environmental standpoint. It’s clear they’ve put thought into creating a mix that’s both sustainable and good for your plants. The branding is clean and thoughtful. Somehow, like flour bags, dirt is always covering the outside of soil packaging, so the unboxing was not the most pleasant, but perhaps reimagining the packaging of granulated goods is best saved for another day. At the end of the day, it’s still dirt—good dirt, not exactly "dirt" cheap, but is a nice way to help the earth in and out of your home.

  • I didn’t know it was possible to feel this way about soil, but this soil is gorgeous 😍 my plants were in desperate need of nutrients and fresh soil. I got the bundle that included house plant soil, aroid soil, and plant food. While I love plants I’m not an expert and wasn’t sure between the house plant and aroid which would be best for my plants and because the bag descriptions overlapped a bit I decided to mix them for some plants. You can definitely see the difference between the two types so maybe a bit more help/guidance for us novices would be good. Can’t wait to see my plants thrive!!! 🌿🌱🍃

What is Rosy Soil?

Rosy Soil makes soil specifically for indoor plants using captured CO2 and a blend of nutrients.

In their own words

Rosy Soil is on a mission to cultivate Earth Positivity by helping gardeners nurture plants and the planet. As lifelong gardeners, we were dismayed to discover how harmful the soils we’ve been using our whole life - especially the ones filled with peat - were to our planet. We knew there had to be a better way. So, we spent a year developing Rosy Soil, a better-for-plants, better-for-planet potting soil for houseplants. Our blends contain natural ingredients that optimize drainage and nutrients, and support a diverse community of beneficial fungi and microbes. These include: - Carbon negative biochar: an up-cycled, charcoal-like substance that roots love. We chose it because for every ton of biochar produced, 3 tons of CO2 are removed from the carbon cycle. It’s a peat replacement that sequesters carbon instead of releasing it, and plants love it! - Vegan compost: the base of our mix, compost provides organic matter, supports optimal drainage, and helps prevent organic waste from going to landfills. - Mycorrhizal fungi - naturally occurring fungi that form mutually beneficial relationships with plant roots to increase the amount of nutrients and water they can access. There’s an ingredient that we purposefully left out of our mix: peat moss. While peat is the primary ingredient of most potting mixes on shelves today, it comes with a big cost to our planet. When peatlands are mined for products like peat moss, it releases twice as much CO2 per year than the entire airline industry. At Rosy, we believe there’s a better way. So, we’ve designed our blends to replace peat with high quality, simple-but-effective ingredients that leave the planet better than we found it. What’s the result of all of this? When we account for our entire supply chain, all the way from our production facility to your home, this product has a net negative carbon footprint. All in, it sequesters more than 2 kg of CO2 from the emission cycle. And, we accomplished this without sacrificing quality or plant growth. We’re a team of plant nerds united by the crazy idea that good soil can change the world. We’ve brought together a world-renowned group of plant and soil scientists to create the highest quality products with the lowest possible environmental footprint. We try to make earth-friendly gardening as easy and understandable as possible, because we believe that individual choices can add up to make a big difference. Come with us on this journey!
