Reviews mention

  • Elegant, minimalist packaging aesthetic
  • Light, refreshing flavor profiles
  • Notably calming, subtle effect
  • Versatile nonalcoholic cocktail alternative
  • Inconsistent functional effects
  • Faint, sometimes medicinal flavors
  • Occasional bitter aftertaste
  • Soft, low carbonation mouthfeel

Recess earns mixed reviews: the brand delivers light, refreshing flavors, sleek packaging, and for many a subtle calming effect, yet it polarizes on taste intensity and the consistency of functional benefits. Reviews praise Strawberry Rose, Blood Orange, Peach Ginger, Blackberry Chai, and coconut lime, but cite faint or medicinal flavors, occasional aftertaste, low carbonation, and uneven “mood” effects—leaving some to view it as elevated seltzer rather than a reliably functional drink.

  • Tasted pretty good! I like the variety of flavors they have and their branding makes me so happy. Tasted like a more flavorful La Croix.

    Feedback

The flavors could have been slightly stronger. Still really good though, I'd prefer this over La Croix!

  • Not much taste to it. I had a headache all day and I think the magnesium in this helped.

    Feedback

Needs more flavor. I’d love to see more adaptogens in it.

  • Not my favorite flavors :( love the concept and packaging but wouldn't buy again.

    Feedback

    Weird aftertaste

  • Love the product and brand. Flavor consistency and vibe is on point. Do I feel the uplifting and creative benefits I’m promised? Nah, the doses are pretty light and maybe I just need more. But if your tolerance for things like caffeine or cbd is low maybe it works. Or if you’re good with the placebo :)

  • Honestly, scrumptious. No complaints

    Feedback

I'm not sure if it had a ton of effect, but stuff like Magnesium doesn't really have an immediate and obvious effect anyways.

  • I never really got the appeal of Recess, especially at the price point they were selling at. As the initial RTD CBD drink, they set the way for future brands but CBD as a whole from a quality, price, and effectiveness play has never sold me (this goes for their competitor VYBE as well)

  • Best flavored sparkling water I’ve had. I don’t know if the added adaptogens necessarily do anything for me, but they taste good. I love the rose flavor and orange.

  • These reminded me of la Croix in terms of flavor and effect - as in I did not notice any effect and the flavors were not very strong. I found many of the flavors to be somewhat bitter as well, although some were pretty good. For the price, I do not think these are worth it. (Unfortunately - I really wanted it to be a great alcohol alternative...).

  • Love these drinks. Really yummy and refreshing.

    Feedback

Unfortunately I don't actually feel any difference in mood or energy after consuming. That messaging feels gimmicky for how much effect there is.

  • I picked one of these up at a random gas station on my way from Pdx to central oregon. I needed to pee and admission to the very rundown bathroom required you were a customer. I’d seen the brand online before so when I saw it in one of their drink fridges I was immediately curious. First, because it just seemed so out of place and second, because I figured the product was so new at least I knew it wouldn’t be expired and would lack the dust some of the shelf products seemed to have acquired. Anyway, the drink was good. I don’t know if it totally did all the things it said it did, but it definitely stuck in my head and left me pondering how that drink ever ended up being stocked in such a run down gas station.

  • I like the flavors and benefits of this product. I’ve shared with multiple colleagues and everyone liked them as well. The price is a little steep so it’s a once in awhile treat.

  • Recess drinks are DELICIOUS and they make me feel so calm and stress-free. They make you a bit drowsy though so take them before bed!

  • Grabbed some of these on vacation as a nondrinker surrounded with others partaking in beers and cocktails. These are delicious, and provide a nice relaxing feeling without being too much.

  • I love the flavors and variety of products recess offers!

The last few times I’ve had a recess, I didn’t feel much of an effect. If there is a way to really feel the adaptogens, they should put some fine print or instructions.

  • These have a slight medicinal quality to them. I do feel a slight but calmer after drinking one of these. Also another “healthy” soda for someone with an acquired taste.

  • This somehow helped my IBS and really got things moving. There was nothing else I consumed during that time that could’ve had a similar effect. It de-stressed my body.

I wish it tasted more like tea and was a bit cheaper.

  • I tried the peach + ginger flavor and thought it tasted good and was refreshing. However, it did not live up to the brand's claims of creating a calming + mood boosting effect - based on my experience, that aspect sounds like a marketing stunt.

  • Tried the blue-purple can and it tasted very dirty and dry. I normally like earthy flavors but this was too medicinal for me. I’ll try other flavors eventually.

  • I picked up the black cherry flavor when I was after a much needed wind - down. The flavor was subpar- like an unsweetened tea profile... that could use more sugar? However, I did feel a little more calm after. Would I repurchase? No - the flavor wasn't yummy enough to get me back and I'd be curious to try other offerings.

Streghthen the flavor profile so that it will leave more of an impressions - that will also justify the price point.
