Owala earns strong reviews as a high-performing, leak-resistant hydration brand whose FreeSip lid—offering both straw and chug options—makes drinking intuitive and keeps beverages cold for hours. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some sizes don’t fit cup holders, components can be tricky to clean with mold-prone silicone and occasional straw detachment, certain bottles feel heavy or top‑heavy, and isolated reports cite rust, paint chipping, instability in a tumbler, and leaks if unlocked.

Yes okay I have a problem. I love water bottles. I saw these and held off for the longest time but I really love them and the limited drops sometimes get me. These are pretty easy to clean but you have to make sure you know how to clean the little thingy that gets moldy. Also you need a straw cleaner. My kids love 'em too. My husband, of course, does not care.

Osaka is a perfect water bottle minus one thing. I love the straw or sip function and the leak proof top with the button and lock mechanism. The one thing I don’t like is the little silicon piece in the top of the lid in the second photo. It collects mold and once the mold is on there you cannot get it off. They sell a replacement part online for it but it’s still annoying. Other than that this is my perfect, go to water bottle especially for travel.

I love love love my owala! i bought it a few months ago and it is the absolute best. It doesn’t leak like my stanley does so i can put it in my backpack or handbag. I also love the variety of sizes and colors!

Shifted to my Owala water bottle last year and I can't go back - its def worth the hype. Plus, I got the special edition fall color from Target and I love it. I love that it has a handle and also love the fact that I can lock it!

I’m obsessed with my Owala. It is truly an emotional support water bottle and helps me drink so much more water. I’d definitely recommend cleaning it more often than a hydroflask since build-up can accumulate in the cap.

This bottle has been through it with me — London, the Balkans, random road trips, gym days, you name it — and it’s still standing strong. The Owala FreeSip Twist is hands-down one of my best travel investments. The 24oz size is perfect — enough water for long days out but not bulky. It fits perfectly in cupholders and bags, which seems small but matters when you’re running around all day. The built-in straw top is the real winner here. It makes sipping so much easier (especially on flights or long drives), and you can still tip it up like a regular bottle if you want. Plus, it’s cute — I have the green/white “Iced Breeze” color, which just feels sleek to carry. I’ve dropped this thing on brick, concrete, and probably cursed it mid-fall — not a dent that’s messed with function. It’s insanely durable, leak-proof, and keeps drinks cold for hours. Verdict: 10/10. Cute, functional, indestructible. My emotional support water bottle, no notes.

I loveeee Owala, I literally cannot leave the house without my free sip sway and it fits in a car cup holder. I have the classic free sip, the sway, tumbler, and smooth sip slider coffee cup and to say the least I love the product. My water is always cold with long lasting ice and my drinks stay hot. A really good insulated bottle that is easily accessible and reasonably priced.

I finally gave this brand a try after losing one of my other regularly used water bottles (Blender brand). The color options for Owala are so cute and the function of the sip or tilt is so unique! It is a higher price point, but comparable to other products of this material and seems that it will last. Also super easy to clean which is +

Love this water bottle! I try and discourage myself from buying new water bottles (because we all tend to have so many) but this one is truly great + I got it as a gift. It's become my go to for everyday use.

I was gifted the larger bottle in dark grey color-way with teal highlights. Super sleek design and great insulation, can keep water cold even with the top open. The flip top is starting to wear down a bit so it jams slightly but i love the free-sip design and keep it on my work desk all day.

OMG I love this water bottle! Owala really outdid themselves with this one and it has an extremely thoughtful design. The mouthpiece can be covered so it’s not exposed to germs, you can choose if you sip out of the straw or not, it’s easy to clean, keeps water cold, easy to carry with the handle, and doesn’t spill. Everything you could ever want in a water bottle!

The Owala water bottle has quickly become the MVP of hydration in our household. For the price point, you honestly can’t beat the quality. It keeps water super cold for an impressively long time - long enough that I can leave it in a hot car, come back hours later, and still have ice floating around. For a bottle that’s this affordable, that’s kind of amazing. The design is equally thoughtful. I love the carry handle on top; it makes it easy to grab and go, or carry around without feeling bulky. The smooth exterior is also a perfect canvas for stickers, which has become a fun little customization project for everyone in the family. And durability? Outstanding. Mine has been dropped, thrown into the backseat, rolled across the floor, and generally abused, and it still looks great and functions perfectly. You can see the dents in the photo - BUT these dents don't affect performance, no weird leak. It remains a reliable bottle that keeps on ticking. The color options are another huge plus. Everyone in our family has their own, and the variety means no mix-ups. Bright, fun, and easy to spot. For everyday use, travel, school, or workouts, this is hands-down the best water bottle I’ve ever owned.

I feel a little bit proud to have discovered Owala long before the brand blew up. I was taken by the innovative design that allows you to sip from a straw or tip back and chug, both from the same spout. I love the fun color color combos and the minimalist design. I have 3 of the original style and just ordered the new Sway version with an improved carry handle. There is only 1 thing that I don't love, which is the rubberized coating on the dome of the cap. Over time it starts to feel a little sticky and to get dirty easily. I find myself having to scrub it with soap every few uses. But that's not even enough of a complaint to deduct a star. Love Owala.

The free sip has been amazing! I love that it covers the mouth piece and I don’t have to touch the mouth part at all. It keeps everything sanitary. The only thing is sometimes when I’m biking, the cap has come unscrewed or the lock was unattached somehow whenever it’s in a tote. It’s only happened twice so maybe that’s user error, but I haven’t had other bottles do that. I make sure that it’s in a secure place that doesn’t bounce around and it’s been fine. I don’t mind having hot or cold water, it stays hot enough for me and it keeps it cold for long enough in the summer. My husband and I share the bottle so we usually finish the water before it gets warm if there’s ice. The kids 12 oz tumbler with the free sip cap was a good idea in theory, but I find that leaks more than just having the original straw itself. I tried to use it for coffee, but it kept leaking from the screw part so that was more annoying. I would give that 3 stars. Overall I would purchase again, but I would use bottles that are intended for their specific purpose and to place them in a secure manner.

I have 8 of these water bottles, a few different styles. I love the hidden straw so germs don’t creep in. The new ones have handles for carrying and I need to upgrade. There are so many color options, there is one for every style. I have put them in the dishwasher, they have a few small dents and still work great.

love the water bottle! being able to sip from the top without flipping it over is nice, while also maintaining the ability to tip it over to drink from like regular bottle. the only thing that's frustrating, which i've had happen to 2 freesip bottles, is the straw starts to not keep attached to the top and will fall off randomly making it so the "freesip" situation isn't always accessible.

This is a great bottle for on the go. I love that you can either tip the bottle or sip through the straw to take a drink. I actually gifted my dad a bottle for when we go on road trips so he can sip his drinks as he drives. The bottle keeps drinks cold for a good amount of time. I also gifted a bottle to my brother and he loves it. The color varieties that these bottles come in are great and quite extensive. Some may find the price point to be a little high at about 25 to 30 dollars per bottle but it's a bottle that will last a long time and is honestly the only bottle you'll want after you try it.

This thing never leaves my side. I lost it traveling and re-bought immediately. I started with the larger size and ended up getting the slimmer one because it better fit in my car cupholder. It never leaks and is easy to clean the straw makes it easy to sip while at your desk or while working out.

I’m genuinely impressed with my Owala water bottle! I’ve tried more bottles than I care to admit, but this one finally checks every box. The FreeSip design is genius; whether I want to sip like a straw or tilt it back for a full gulp, it just works. The lid feels sturdy, the colors are fun without being loud, and it’s surprisingly lightweight for being so durable. It keeps my water cold all day (even after being left in a warm car), and the leak-proof lid has already saved the inside of my bag more than once. Cleaning is easy, and the built-in carry loop is one of those little features you don’t think you’ll care about until you have it. Overall, it’s become my go-to bottle for work, errands, and the gym. Highly recommend if you want something functional, modern, and just plain enjoyable to use!

I’ve been using my new 32 oz Owala FreeSip bottle in the striking blue color, and I have to say, the hype is absolutely real. This bottle is a genuine game-changer and immediately became my favorite. It doesn't just hold water; it makes staying hydrated effortless. The most ingenious feature is, without a doubt, the FreeSip spout. Having the option to either sip through the integrated straw or tilt it back for a wide-mouth swig means I use it constantly throughout the day, whether I’m taking casual sips at my desk or chugging after a workout. The push-button lid locks securely and makes it totally leak-proof, giving me peace of mind when it’s bouncing around in my backpack.
