  • Misfits has an incredible mission to reduce food waste. The food shipped is always organic and high quality. It is an easy customer experience and affordable price point.

I wish I could opt out of some of the food sent each week. I stopped ordering because I was receiving too many foods such as onions that I wasn't eating. It would be great to add more customization options.

  • I don't care about imperfect produce, but I do care about rotting produce. About half of what they sent was already bad or didn't last more than a day or two. No thanks

  • I hate going to the grocery store and have a really busy schedule so misfits fits my needs - high quality, good value produce and snack food items. I have a weekly subscription. My only rub is that the times I've forgotten my selections for the week which triggers their auto cart fill feature, I've ended up with 2 lbs of oranges, three different types of apples, and a sack of potatoes. All fine things on their own but when that's my entire order for the week I don't know how I'm supposed to make meals out of those three items.

What they offer is based on what they have coming in so a lot of what I consider to be "staples" i.e. salsa, isn't regularly or ever available. You may need to supplement with trips to the grocery store or other online retailers. Sometimes the way items are packaged (or not packaged) damages them in transit but every time I have had an issue they are quick to resolve it for me.

  • First couple of orders were fine, however there’s a reason why I no longer use this service. They kept on giving me items I had not chosen alongside various foods that were completely rotted.

  • This is great if you are a good planner. I often let the veggies go bad unfortunately before using them. I love the concept & if you’re a frequent cook & love veggies this is definitely for you. I have my ups & downs with cooking & planning my meals so I ended up canceling after about a month.

  • Love it! I preferred it when it was sort of a surprise, but it’s still great. Love knowing that it reduces food waste and I feel like I can try new products and produce without spending a ton of money

  • I used Misfits for several months. I loved the variety and convenience, and the mission.

I worry that the brand is not as sustainable as it claims to be, or isn't doing the best it can to fight food waste vs turn a profit

  • I was drawn to Misfits Market by their mission and sustainable(?) practices. Factoring in shipping and promotions, it's possible to pay similar prices to the grocery store, but without the trouble of shopping in person. If produce is inaccessible to you, I think Misfits is definitely a viable option.

The selection process is enjoyable and there is a lot of variety. However, the quality is pretty variable, especially since they are delivering produce. There were several occasions on which items were crushed or beyond use e.g., a box of mushy raspberries.

  • It's very helpful and useful! Their selection of products is rapidly expanding, which is great! Their prices are pretty good, and either slightly cheaper or on par with my local supermarket.

I understand that it depends what's available, but sometimes there are basic ingredients/products that I want to buy that are not available on a week-to-week basis.

  • Great price for good quality products. Really love the variety of options in the pantry as well. I get to try new things at a much cheaper price point and it also feels great knowing that it cuts down on food waste.

At least one produce item will be inedible but they are very easy to work with to get a refund or credit towards your next order.

  • This was a great program I used to be a part of. The only reason I stopped is I live with picky eaters and they do not like everything sent. But still a great program to not waste food.

The only reason I stopped is I live with picky eaters and they do not like everything sent. Everything was fresh, just funky looking.

  • Great vegetable and fruit variety and sizes. They allow you to select the day and frequency of your order. You can also add other items based on their availability.

  • I really loved my Misfits Market subscription. Had to temporarily cancel it because we moved, but it's a great way to get organic fruits and vegetables at an incredible price. Just make sure you're a frequent home cook, as they really send a lot of produce (which is a major plus for me).

  • I have bought my groceries mainly from Misfits Market for over a year. I appreciate the company's goal of finding better uses for what would otherwise be food waste. It's so easy to "set and forget" the weekly boxes so that even when I am having a completely hectic week and have no executive function to go to a grocery store, a Misfits box will still show up. It doesn't require a membership to use and each week can be canceled as needed. The prices vary--sometimes more expensive, sometimes cheaper. I've only had a handful of issues with the groceries' quality, and each time customer service has been swift at refunding me, without any extra hoops to go through.

  • After being a weekly customer for nearly two years, I’ve sadly stopped shopping with Misfits Market due to a steady increase in poor experiences over time. It’s unclear whether there’s been significant management turnover or a fundamental shift in fulfillment practices, but operations have degraded significantly since 2021. I’ve repeatedly provided direct feedback to the company about these changes, yet the quality decline has persisted and intensified. 1) There’s been a substantial, sustained increase in the amount of product arriving unusable. It’s not the result of transit damage, but instead poor and negligent origin packing. They claim to prioritize preventing food waste, yet boxes now routinely include heavy and fragile products thrown haphazardly together without protection, leaking cooling packs, unwrapped broken glass, dented cans, and bruised/split/rotten produce. 2) Missing items and picking mix-ups have also increased. Either they’ve transitioned to a far worse inventory platform or staff training has gone way downhill (or both). 3) The website and app have become increasingly buggy, with usability issues while shopping, redeeming rewards, and reporting order issues. A few of these glitches resulted in unprocessed refunds, erroneous double rewards redemptions, and other financial headaches that necessitated multiple follow ups to correct. 4) Support that used to be provided instantaneously via automated prompts is now handled via email. Reported issues can take days to resolve, and it’s a crapshoot whether the agent responding can competently resolve them after one contact. 5) Other than a small subset of produce and heavily discounted short-dated items, pricing for most inventory is now on par with, or in some cases MORE expensive, than at a local grocery/retail store or competing online source. The platform no longer offers a competitive consumer advantage (outside of perhaps serving food deserts with no other sourcing options).

  • Misfit markets was horrible. Some rotted or wilted food. Absolutely terrible customer service. Dumped them. So I tried imperfect foods and have been with them for years. They were great! Now that imperfect was recently bought out by the greedy, disorganized misfit markets, it was literally an immediate and downhill nosedive in quality and customer service. Right now, there’s not even an option to cancel. No one in customer service ever got back to me and I’m forced to take action. I even got rotted food again. Misfit markets is truly the worst of the worst. Check out their reviews. The just don’t seem to care about their customers or even the environment. They just want your money.

  • Do not use this service. I signed up out of curiosity as I had seen a lot of marketing for this product and it looked promising. When I signed up I had to attach a credit card to my account but there was NO mention of them automatically placing me on a subscription model. A few days later I get a notification from Amex that they charged me ~60$. I logged on to see that they had sent me a box of groceries that I did not authorize or order. That night I submitted a claim through customer service and did not hear back for 3 days. They then claimed they could not give me a refund because my order is "already in transit". Do not use this service as they will just take your money and give you crappy groceries.

  • I can't reach any human being at Misfits Market to ask them why they are cheerfully sending a whole bunch of stuff I don't want, didn't order and would never eat. I'm going to have to cut them off. This is crazy. I can protest but checking a box, one item at a time, but I can't ask a question in the query box, because it just won't perform. Click away all you want, you'll just get to enter you name and see your wrong order over and over, but nothing else. Read the FAQs, too, they won't tell you anything either. The short shelf life was their worst problem, but an entire order made of things that I don't want/ can't eat/ are horrible to me is too much. We're done. And there's no option for ending this torture either. I'm going to have to go to the bank and freeze them out of my account. Beware!

  • I appreciate the thought behind this but the execution is poor and it’s just not worth the carbon footprint. I canceled my subscription after trying this.

The items available are limited and without the signup discount you are honestly paying the same price you would in the store. Items were out of stock for me so I received substitutions… which were all potatoes. Literally all of them were potatoes.
