MERIT reviews and discussion

Reviews mention

  • Creamy, blendable complexion stick
  • Lightweight, skin-like formulas
  • Elegant, minimalist packaging
  • Sensitive-skin friendly formulations
  • Fragile, finicky component packaging
  • Sheer, quickly fading pigments
  • Dryness and creasing on texture
  • Inconsistent shade matching accuracy

MERIT earns strong reviews as a minimalist, “your-skin-but-better” line that blends easily, flatters a natural look, and suits sensitive skin, with standouts like the Minimalist Complexion Stick, Flush Balm blushes, Day Glow highlighter, Bronze Balm, Clean Lash mascara, and Shade Slick lip oils. Reviews also flag weaknesses: color products that fade quickly, sheer coverage that won’t satisfy full-coverage users, packaging issues (sticks breaking, messy pumps, mascara cap stickiness), occasional dryness/creasing on textured or dry skin, and inconsistent shade matches for some complexions.

  • I'm obsessed with their cream blush, I don't know how it hasn't gotten more hype with all of the liquid/cream blushes that have become so popular. I apply it with a brush and it looks so natural, is very buildable, and much less likely to be overpowering than a liquid formula. You can apply it with a full face or very minimal makeup and it still looks good. This is the only Merit product I've tried but I will certainly try more in the future.

  • Currently obsessed with MERIT!! Bronzer + blush blends like a dream. Mascara is lengthy and perfect. Brow gel is voluminous. Packaging = luxurious. Customer service is also amazing!

Opt for one shade darker for the bronzer as it can be pretty sheer, but so buildable and creamy which is why I love it!

  • Love the consistency, look and feel of all the Merit products I’ve tried. The common thread seems to be blendability – everything (bronzer, foundation, blush, lipsticks + gloss) is so creamy and spreads so easily, it’s unlike any makeup brand I’ve tried before.

My complexion stick broke off within a few days of use, but it still fully functional – just be careful!

  • I’m not a big make up girlie but I’m obsessed with the blush balm! After seeing a few TikTok’s about it I finally caved and decided to give it a shot last year. It’s been my go to blush ever since! I love how it applies and how easy to blend it is.

  • I'm in love with the new glow serum! I admittedly was most drawn in by the gorgeous bottle it comes in, but it really does work. I apply a few drops before moisturizer and my skin looks brighter and more glowy. I also have the blush that I've only tried once, but it's pretty subtle (which may or may not be what you're looking for). The lip oil is definitely next on my list!

  • I have the lip oil and like it! The lipstick will definitely be my next purchase. Based on my swatching in store, it goes on super smoothly and feels like butter, and I love the packaging of both lip products.

  • absolutely love their lip oils. lasts a long time and its not sticky.

  • It's the brand for all the minimalist make-up lovers. I love this packaging, the feel, and just the overall quality of this brand. I was worried that for all the aesthetics, the quality will suffer, but I couldn't be more wrong: I would say this is one of the rare brands where the price matches the quality you get. In fact, I am surprised it isn't priced higher (knock on wood that they don't get any ideas).

I would include a bit more shades for their concealer/foundation stick. As a South Asian women, it was difficult to find a shade that matched my undertone. With a bit of blending, I managed to make it work, and I really liked the consistency and application to give up on it.

  • Honestly did not love the concealer stick - the actual concealer stick came out out of the roll and in general is super dry which makes it hard to apply and creasy. Their Cream Blush in shade Raspberry Beret is a game-changer though! Just steer clear of the concealer

    The concealer should be redesigned!

  • MERIT popped up in my insta-feed and I was initially drawn to it by the ingredients list. Since then, 3 products have made it into my everyday beauty routine. I love how lightweight they are + how they don't irritate my skin or clog my pores. I have sensitive skin, so finding the right match is hard. The products I use: -The Minimalist Complexion Stick: Great coverage for my eye bags (💕) + feels lightweight on skin. I had been using Glossier's concealer for 3 years prior to this, and I've *officially* made the switch. -Flush Blush: Love this product, applying it feels niiiice. I've never been a blush gal, but this is subtle + I like. -Day Glow Highlighter: Dewey and fun, meant for the daytime. It's got a great subtle shimmer and feels refreshing on skin. I swapped out my Glossier highlighter that I'd been using for 3 years for this.

  • The cream blush is my favorite blush product right now. I love the colors - plus the formula is buildable and blendable. I also like the minimalist perfecting complexion stick but I wish they had more shade options.

  • I really like Merit's branding and aesthetic, and the fact that their sensibility is consistent across their product line. In general I think Merit products are really good – the lip oil is amazing, and I use the blush balm almost daily. i do think the price/quantity ratios are a bit off, with Merit, though. I love the complexion stick but it simply isn't worth the money – if you're using something as a foundation + concealer, you use it pretty quickly! and I "hit pan" on my blush balm shockingly quickly. High quality basics, but a bit rich for my blood.

  • simple, timeless, clean products - easy to use and apply. Plus, Merit has a super helpful customer service if you have any issues with your order or choose the wrong color(s)

  • All of Merit's products feel luxurious. I like that many of them are multi-purpose. I travel a lot and take the bronze balm and highlighter stick everywhere I go. The Glow Serum is amazing and makes my skin look dewy and fresh. I'm giving it a 4 only because I find the highlighter doesn't last as long as some that I've used. But all the products are super blendable and glide on easily. Great for older skin.

  • I recently have been trying to switch over to non toxic products in my home. I was nervous about finding makeup that was non toxic that would perform like regular products. I tried Merit after seeing many people posting on social media. I love their products. Their mascara is the best non toxic mascara I have tried yet. I also use the bronzer. complexion stick, and brush. I would love to try more of their products.

  • I use the cream shadow pot every day! It’s my absolute go to. Doesn’t crease, even on my oily lids! I use the purple color, which is subtly but looks amazing with my green eyes. I get compliments all the time.

  • Merrit Beauty totally slays my makeup game! 🌟 The foundation stick's color options are on point, giving me that flawless, natural look in a flash – the 5-minute routine? Not a lie! 💄 Obsessed with their new solo shadows (packaging can be a bit of a challenge), killer brow game, and the mascara is my ride-or-die. 🚀 I have pretty much all their products and love them but, I wish they would keep the neutral brow 1980 in their regular lineup. Eyeliner and lip liner options would be the icing on the glam cake. Merrit Beauty, you've got my face feeling fierce in no time! 🎉 #MerritMagic #5MinuteGlowUp

  • I recently purchased the Merit cream blush and it's quickly become one of my all time favorite make up products. I love that this is a clean beauty brand, I think the idea behind having just a few products that you use daily is great and their packaging is really stylish. I can't wait to try their other products.

  • The worst mascara. But I kinda like their lipstick in the shade 1990. But the color range is not fair-skin friendly. They need more colors for people who have fair skin…

  • Merit has become a new favourite for a subtle or “no makeup” makeup look. I LOVE their highlighter stick and flush balm, and have a set at the office for quick touch ups, as well as one at home. Plus, if i’m out all day or travelling, they are so easy to transport, and look great on a variety of skin tones! I also ADORE their lip oil (the original! Haven’t tried the new one yet). It’s hydrating & not sticky, and easy to put on, and gives you the most gorgeous and subtle tint. I am obsessed!! I recently tried their GREAT SKIN; and to be honest haven’t noticed if it’s doing anything for me, so that may be a skip in the future, but i’d like to try their complexion sticks and their new lip oils as well!
