Halfdays Reviews

4.2

Halfdays earns mixed reviews: many report flattering, warm ski jackets and base layers that perform on cold powder days and in harsh conditions, while others criticize inconsistent quality and sizing. Reviews praise chic colors, thoughtful features like phone leashes and ample pockets, and comfortable, supportive base layers, but note issues such as jackets attracting dirt, glued pockets failing after washing, limited length options, and fit challenges for curvier or high waist-to-hip ratios.

  • Was super excited to snag a Halfdays Pieper fleece through Thingdrop since it's such a popular item recommended by the outdoor girlies online. I originally got the X-Large for an oversized fit but found it to be too large, so I exchanged it for a Large – I'm typically a medium in all tops for a comfortable fit and am happy with the Large. I'd size down to a Medium next if I wanted a more fitted look. The sleeves are a bit long (as seen in the first photo) but nothing I'm not used to being petite (5'-2"). Overall super happy with the fleece and it's gotten a lot of wear this season with the cold NYC winter.

  • I’ve really been loving this fleece way more than I thought I would. It’s soft, warm, and the color is really great. It’s been the perfect cold weather accessory as a layer under a heavier jacket and on its own. I’ve worn it for walks and out to dinner. I really like how far the half zip goes so I can put it on without messing up my hair and then be able to zip it up all the way to under my chin to keep my neck warm. The front and back pocket are really nice, I don’t have to bring a bag on my walks I can just use those for necessities; they’re very spacious and zip so I can see them being very useful when wearing this jacket out hiking or skiing. I’m about 5’5 with a medium build and got a size large. I like the oversized look but it does allow wind and chill to get up under it so wearing a tight layer under is essential if I need to stay really warm. I think if I sized down it would be better as there’s no cinching chord on the bottom. I still think it would be a slight issue and I prefer the roomier fit. My only complaints are the cost and the no cinching chord on the bottom. Other than that, I love it, I wear it all the time and I do see myself buying another color despite the cost.

  • I tried a pair of hiking pants (the Bastille) I was super excited for, but "made for women" doesn't necessarily mean hips are compensated for in the cut. The legs fit well but the waist gap was huge, and cinching the built-in belt made for an uncomfortable waistband and not-cute bunching. Sadly returned, might try the base layers or tops but if you've got a high waist-to-hip ratio, this may not be the brand for pants for you.

  • I liked the jacket, but was very disappointed with the company’s integrity. I purchased a significant amount from them—almost $2,000 worth. Before ordering, I subscribed to their list to receive the advertised 10% discount, which was meaningful given the size of the purchase. I waited several days for the discount email, but it never arrived. I ultimately had to place the order in time for an upcoming ski trip. At the same time, I contacted customer service to explain the situation, expecting they would recognize the issue and honor the discount. They were polite, but instead of applying the 10% discount to my $2,000 order, they offered it on a future purchase “as a courtesy.” That response was disappointing. Whether by design or due to a flaw in their system, they failed to deliver on their promotion—and this was how they chose to handle it. I received the order and returned all of it. There are plenty of other independent ski clothing brands that do not treat customers this way. I rarely write reviews—good or bad—but felt compelled to share this negative experience with Halfdays.
