GIR Reviews

Best of Thingtesting4.9

GIR earns strong reviews for durable, heat-resistant silicone utensils that feel sturdy, clean easily, protect nonstick cookware, and come in vibrant colors; yes, the brand works, with standouts like the Ultimate Spatula, Spoonula, whisks, baking mats, and collapsible colander. Weaknesses include occasional staining, a thicker spatula edge that lacks precision, tongs with rough plastic ends and flimsy lock, and rare tip breakage or dishwasher residue on lighter pieces.

  • I love GIR kitchen tools! The different colors makes my kitchen more joyful. The hard silicone feels good in my hands. I have good control using the spatula. I also like that they are dishwasher safe!

  • I've been a GIR supporter since their kickstarter! They are the original inventors of the uniform silicone body kitchen tool - truly innovative. The products also last - some of my GIR tools have been in my kitchen for 10+ years. The only issue I've had is a spatula tip breaking, but that is due to user error where I put it with a sharp object. These are extremely easy to clean and use. The spoonula is a definite must-have in any kitchen. I've even gifted GIR sets, and they're always a hit. The lighter colors can stain a bit, but not by much and I think they do slowly come out in the wash. Great cookware that's plastic-free and easy to maintain.

  • GIr has always had a great reputation and I turned to them when the public was told to toss the black plastic cookware. Well turns out those were really old anyway, and I was due for an upgrade. Looking into GIR I like that it's BPA free, free of microplastics, is dishwasher safe and just pretty in general! We love to cook in our household and these get a lot of use and we haven't had issues of pieces breaking off, discoloration, etc. I love the spoonula as it's a little curved so it's good for cooking but also as a spatula when baking. The collapsible colander is great because it doesn't take up a lot of space but can also be used as a steamer since it can withstand high heat. I bought their baking set with the sprinkles as a gift since the kids that we know are growing enough to help out in the kitchen.

  • I’m enjoying using my GIR products so far. I like their all-silicone design for function and also for safety (avoiding plastics that can shed leading to microplastics.) The flipper and mini spatula are high quality kitchen staples for me!

What is GIR?

GIR offers a full line of kitchen tools featuring simple, easy-to-use designs.

In their own words

Elevated kitchen tools for everyday use. GIR’s brilliantly engineered kitchen tools redefine what it means to get it right in the kitchen. Made from 100% platinum-cured, pharmaceutical-grade silicone, GIR tools are non-toxic, antimicrobial, and BPA- and BPS-free. Home chefs and pros alike love the easy to clean, unique unibody designs and variety of colors that make GIR tools the heart of any kitchen. For Samantha Rose, the idea for GIR started with a simple spatula…or more accurately, with her drawer full of spatulas. For a tool that’s so simple yet so important to any cook’s toolkit, she felt let down by every model she tried. She knew that to get it right, she would have to design her own. A 2012 Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign helped her pursue the GIR mission and bring our original spatula to life. GIR joined the Pattern Family of Brands in 2021.
