EltaMD earns strong reviews as a reliable, skin-friendly sunscreen brand that works, praised for lightweight, non-greasy formulas like UV Clear SPF 46 that protect without irritation and layer cleanly under makeup. Reviews also flag drawbacks: occasional shine, insufficient hydration for dry patches, a sometimes-strong scent, tinted formulas that skew orange on cool/neutral undertones, and a thicker UV Physical that can leave a white cast.

  • I bought this through the FSA store and love it! I wear it every day under makeup and it doesn't cause any pilling or anything. Unlike Supergoop, it doesn't cause me to breakout. Highly recommend if you are looking for an every day sunscreen.

  • Recommended by my dermatologist for a tinted sunscreen but I wasn't sure at first because it's a little pricey. Saw it in the FSA store so went for it and ended up really liking it! It DOES leave my skin a bit shiny but I think it has a nice really fluffy texture and blends nicely.

  • I’m so picky with facial sunscreens, and this has been great. It doesn’t have a sunscreen smell or feel, and is light and absorbs well. My eyes are also super sensitive and this doesn’t make them sting at all. I really like this.

  • I received a sample of Elta MD UV Skin Recovery with SPF 50. It works amazingly. It’s been a hot summer already so I tried this on a triple digit day and it really kept my face from burning. I would buy the full size, the quality is worth it.

  • One of my favorite SPFs! Does not leave a white cast and provides loads of UV protection. It contains niacinamide and can help with acne prone skin. This was the SPF my dermatologist recommended to me after battling horrible postpartum acne, and it made such a big difference in my skin. I’m on my 6th bottle and I’ve recommended it to friends and family

  • Elta MD's UV Clear Tinted Face Sunscreen is an awful choice for those with neutral or cool undertones—it'll make you look orange! Also, it's not a good option for those whose skin doesn't react well with niacinamide.

  • Not to be dramatic, but I will probably die with this sunscreen on. 6 years ago, I (pale, freckled) committed to wearing face sunscreen every day. So, I've been using this sunscreen for 6 years, 99% of the time. I LOVE it. No white cast (mind you, I am already pale), and it doesn't feel greasy on my skin. Other sunscreens have broke me out, but never this one. I love that they launched a bigger size, too. The packaging is great too.

  • The face sunscreen for those with sensitive skin. I can’t speak to the white cast because I’m ghost level pale but as someone with reactive skin, this doesn’t cause outbreaks or irritation. Lays well under makeup just give it the normal 10 mins to dry down like with most face sunscreens

  • EltaMD sunscreen is hands-down the only sunscreen for my face that I consistently repurchase. I’ve tried so many different brands, but nothing compares to how lightweight, reliable, and comfortable this formula feels. I like both the tinted and untinted versions — the tinted one is perfect for days when I want a little coverage and a more even look, while the untinted is my go-to everyday option. Neither feels heavy or greasy, and they don’t cause breakouts, which is a big win for me. I usually order from Dermstore, but now I’m tempted to switch to the Thingtesting link because it means I’ll actually get more money back on something I’m already buying regularly. It’s one of those rare products that really earns its spot in my routine.

  • I have been using Elta MD for many years. I used post Co2 fraxel laser in 2012 and recently. Whether you use it post procedural or no, it’s 1 one the best sunscreens around. Also available in higher SPF and with a tint, which I do use occasionally. Wonderful product.

  • I love EltaMD sunscreen! I've been using it for 10 years and haven't had the need to switch to another sunscreen.

  • EltaMD’s sunscreens are excellent. In particular, their UV clear line is my holy grail. I used the non-tinted version for a few years but I now use a more affordable Korean sunscreen as my first layer and apply a second layer of the UV clear tinted on top. It works great and helps me get more use out of my bottle, which only works because it doesn’t pill (even the reformulated version). The UV physical broad spectrum sunscreen is much thicker and harder to rub in, but I use this on my body when I know I’m going to be outdoors for a long time since I never burn when I use it. Note that it does leave a white cast, which is a problem many mineral/physical sunscreens have. Their AM facial moisturizer also applies great and sinks in, but it’s out of my budget! Overall, EltaMD makes great products and I love to stock up when there is a sale.

  • This brand is quite the standard when it comes to SPF... recommended and sold by dermatologists all over the country, I trust this as a doctor recommended sunscreen brand!

  • I’ve been using EltaMD for a while now, and I really like it. Their UV Clear SPF 46 is perfect for my sensitive skin—lightweight and non-greasy. It keeps my skin protected without irritation. The only downside is that it’s not as hydrating for my dry patches, but overall, it’s a solid brand I trust for sun protection!

  • One of the best sunscreens out there. When using a zinc sunscreen there is often a white layer that doesn’t blend in very well. I use this tinted and that totally goes away. Great price point

  • Finally got my hands on the tinted sunscreen and I love it!! Gives such a nice glow without looking oily and doesn't break my skin out!

  • I don't know why but their sunscreen is not really good on my skin but really good on my mother's skin. And it is a warning if you are sensitive to the product's scent because it is quite strong for me.

  • Love their tinted sunscreen, I use it when I need to go out and need more coverage. It also helps me wear less makeup. Will definitely re-buy once I run out.

  • THE lightest sunscreen I've ever worn. Cannot recommend enough, I can't wear other sunscreen anymore it's just so fantastic.
