Reviews mention

  • Candy-bar-like texture and flavor
  • Consistently high protein macros
  • Smooth nougat center texture
  • Widely praised signature flavors
  • Occasionally artificial flavor notes
  • Overly sweet flavor profiles
  • Chewy, dense bar texture

Barebells earns strong reviews for tasting like a candy bar while delivering around 20g of protein, with standout flavors like Cookies & Cream, Salty Peanut, Caramel Cashew, Chocolate Dough, and Creamy/Creamy Crisp. Reviews also flag drawbacks—some flavors taste artificial or overly sweet, textures can run chewy or dense (especially vegan options), flavor profiles often blur together, and occasional powdery notes or aftereffects from sweeteners appear.

  • I picked this up during a Trader Joe's trip and it's become one of the best protein bars I've ever tried (and I've tried many). It's not as cardboardy as other high protein bars and I love the little crunch although a little sweet. I've tried the cookies and cream and chocolate dough flavor, definitely trying more.

  • I'm gunna be honest, I wasn't expecting much from these as I have found most protein bars all have the same flavor profiles. However, the cookies and cream flavor was shocking good. It didn't have that powerdy protien flavor and the crunch was really nice. They are a little on the sweet side to be a daily bar, but it's a nice sweet treat with the added bonus of tons of protien!

  • Barebells is probably in my top three protein bar brands. The texture is better than most out there, more nougaty and less chewy than others. I enjoy the added crunch that they have on top and they don't have an off-putting aftertaste from the sugar alcohols either. I like that these are available for purchase at Trader Joe's. My favorite flavor is the cookies and cream.

Please bring the Holiday Crisp/Creamy Crisp flavor back to Trader Joe's!!

  • I like the Caramel Cashew and Cookies and Cream flavors. Great way to get more protein and the chocolate tastes better than most bars.I also like that there is no sugar added. Great snack.

  • I haven't tried all the flavors yet. I loved the cookies and cream flavor, it was bussin and would eat again.

  • This shit is delicious. The Creamy Crisp one is my favorite, but I truly haven't had a bad bar from them. Also, the graphic design of the labels is elite compared to other protein bars. I just bought a full box because I eat 1-2 of these a day. My only critique is the names of some of the flavors are not appetizing to me.

  • Tried a couple flavours, all pretty nice! Highest protein to calorie ratio I could find

  • Actually a really tasty protein bar. Tried it out because it was being advertised at my private gym I attend. The salty peanut and caramel cashew are my favs. Literally feel like I'm eating a candy bar lol. I've heard some people say they feel gassy after eating it because of the sugar alcohol, but I haven't noticed any of these issues.

  • I LOVE BAREBELLS. I have to pick up a few during every weekly grocery trip! They're unlike any protein bar I've ever tried; some of the flavors actually just taste like candy bars. My favorites are the Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Dough, and Salty Peanut. They're also super affordable - especially at retail stores like Trader Joe's. These are a must if you want to up your protein!

  • The #1 tastiest protein bar around, and the nutrition on these is fantastic. The Cookies & Cream flavor is the best. Will say I had high hopes for the White Chocolate Almond, but I found that one overwhelmingly artificial (wish I could give separate reviews per flavor - but the C&C is good enough that I'll just base my stars on that) Recommend buying them at Trader Joe's - they're 1.99 a piece there, cheaper than the bulk price on Amazon.

  • I love the cookies & cream protein bars. I have a peanut allergy so all legumes are off-limits. Although it is very challenging to get something without soybean the quantity in the bars is small enough for me to consume without issues. The bars are slightly chewy which is the perfect sweet fix.

  • really really yummy! i love the salty peanut & creamy crisp bars. that said, some of the flavors (e.g., cookies & cream) veer towards tasting a little artificial, and frankly, i don't love their ingredients list.

  • The salty peanut flavor is so similar to a snickers bar but it has 20 grams and 200 calories. A treat to snack on if I’m in a bind or on the go. Even my picky son said it’s pretty close to a snickers. Haven’t tested the other flavors yet.

  • I love the bars. They do taste just like candy bars, i.e., Snickers, Mars Bar, etc. I just wish that there was some indication as to what bar it was supposed to be ‘faking out’ because, don't get me wrong, the company has figured it out. There are bars that you would swear was Snickers Bar, but then I had to figure that out on my own; so much easier if the boxes were labeled.

  • So glad I found these at Trader Joe's! Started w the cookies and cream and moved to the carmel cashew which is my favorite. I tried the plant-based nougat one and couldn't finish it though so -1. I'm in London right now and they even sell Barebells at some co-ops and convenience stores!

  • Customer services wasn’t the greatest. I ordered a few boxes of the protein bars and decided they weren’t for me. When I contacted them to return it, they shared that I had to pay to ship it back to them. Overall, after the cost of shipping was factored in, I only received half of my refund. $30 wasted on try 2 new protein bars.

  • I love this protein bar. I have had many different brands and this is by far the best out there. It has 200 calories, I use them as a meal replacement, so this is not bad at all. They honestly could pass for a candy bar. You will not get that gritty feel that can make it difficult to swallow with some protein bars. The chocolate is real, the filling is sweet and smooth. I will never buy any bar but Barebells. You need to try these!
