These crackers have an ideal texture for a cheese platter. Robust enough to swipe through a brie yet still snappable and tender. They have the right hit of salt/herb/added flavor to enhance the cheese in question without overpowering it.

This brand should be lauded for its Kandy Spice alone. With a syrupy undercurrent and bright, warm, and lush spice overtones, the blend proves the perfect enhancement for roasted root veggies, a compelling replacement for garam masala, and a transformative substitution for cinnamon or pumpkin spice in baked goods.

I dare you to make a better chocolate-covered almond. I can get down with one of the old-school enrobed nuts during the holidays in the name of nostalgia but as an everyday snack they prove heavy. Their nearly half a centimeter of chocolate coating is typically waxy, relatively flavorless, and chips away from the bland nut inside. None of these faults mar a SkinnyDipped nut. The thin, bitter chocolate–its deep flavor amped up by a dusting of cocoa–adheres tightly to the nut like the little black dress of confectionery. An ample smattering of salt proves the final, vital accessory that elevates this snack to delectable heights.

These were good in the way that all dates are. Caramelly, inherently gooey, and a natural match for chocolate and nuts. But were they $3 or more per date good? No. Did I feel absolutely ridiculous when I opened the package to find that it contained just 2 dates? Yes. I appreciate the quirky packaging and recognize that they are plussing up the flavor profiles but I could make something just about as tasty in much higher volumes for a lower price point in my own kitchen. In fact, so many people are nowadays, to the point that I had assumed chocolate-covered dates had jumped the shark long ago.

The rings are larger and denser than your typical O, making them a bit unwieldy on the spoon and in the mouth. Eating the Original flavor often seems an exercise in self-flagellation for the sake of a few grams of protein given that the bean flavor is rather assertive.

I find myself reaching for Bachan's original Japanese Barbecue Sauce daily. The condiment strikes the ideal balance between salty base notes, sweet top notes, a kiss of sesame, and a punchy throughline of ginger and garlic. Bold enough to fly solo on top of charred sweet potato wedges or as a steak sauce, Bachan also offers savory depth to balsamic dressing or a braise. I also appreciate the medium viscosity of the sauce. It has enough body to adhere to noodles and greens but stops short of veering into gloopy or syrupy territory.
