The Ordinary earns strong reviews for being effective and ingredient-focused: many users report clearer, smoother, more hydrated skin from staples like Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, and the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Reviews also flag weaknesses: some formulas feel sticky or pill, certain actives (retinoids, vitamin C, high-percentage acids) can irritate or be too harsh, results can be hit-or-miss by product or skin type, and the range can be confusing without research.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
I have used a few different products from The Ordinary. I have used the hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and the BHA peel. I liked the glycolic acid a lot and would repurchase. The other two were okay products, both which I finished, but would probably not feel the need to repurchase.
I use Thee Ordinary products everyday. I would say for me they have been amazing and part of my daily skincare routine.
Overall- I think that The Ordinary is a great brand with great products. I have used a variety of their skincare products and I have found most of them to be effective. My favorite is the Squalane cleanser. There are a few (like the under eye serum) that have been a miss for me though. The Ordinary is super affordable so testing different products is easy! Definitely recommend!

I mostly love the Ordinary -- democratizing skincare hooray! -- but their vitamin C emulsion texture was so wild I couldn't use it. I guess it's possible I had a bad batch, but I dont think that was the case. I like the AHA peel (a little goes a long way!).
Great products at a great price point. I have used several of The Ordinary’s anti-aging products over the past few years and have been very impressed with their effectiveness. They prove that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get good skin care. I have also used many expensive, high end products but honestly have not seen better results for more money. The Ordinary’s products have simple packaging, apply nicely and work. No strong scents that tend to give me a headache.

With a name like the Ordinary, it's skincare is anything but. The Ordinary has redefined skincare with its no-nonsense approach and scientific transparency and has earned a permanent place on my vanity. Each product clearly lists the percentage of active ingredients, empowering consumers like me to make informed decisions about what they're putting on their skin.
the bestest skincare brand that’s considered clean, vegan, & cruelty free that’s ALSO affordable!! big fan of the sacylic acid, hyaluronic acid, & niacinamide!
Clunky website, good product dupes for high end skincare
If you want to feel like a chemist while doing you're skincare, this is the brand for you! Price point is great, the little bottle droppers are impractical but very fun. It's a great brand to try out different skincare ingredients without wasting your money.
I love their salicylic acid! In general, I find that they’re the best brand for affordable skincare that’s acne-safe/simple ingredients.
I have been using the ordinary for a long time. I especially love their hyaluronic acid serum and moisturizer.
Pretty much no BS skincare, this is a great brand for beginners when it comes to the skincare realm. I can’t rate certain products because everyone’s skin is different but I would defiantly check them out.
I'm absolutely in love with their Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG. The contours of my eyes used to be fairly dark but after 3 weeks of use they're SO much lighter and my skin is so glowy. I've tried a few skincare products from The Ordinary but this is by far the most effective for me.

Famously well priced, but I do think in some ways the no-frills approach is not for everyone when it comes to skin care. It’s a bit too easy to overload on actives which can be super problematic!
Great price point! I have purchased for myself (middle aged) and my teenager! We both love the results!

You can't beat these price points at this quality. They're effective and inexpensive. Tread carefully if you're a skincare newbie. It's easy to overdo it with active ingredients and it can be confusing to know which products are right for you. They have regimen guides on their website you can reference as a starting point.
Super affordable and easy to find in stores. You have to know how to use the products and what you can and can’t combine but otherwise its a really great brand.
such good value for the price-point. Can't beat it.
5 stars just for affordable skincare, and for being one of the first brands to do it. There are some products I really loved (AHA/BHA peeling solution & glycolic acid) and others that just didn't stand out (the niacinamide serum), but overall I want to keep trying more.
Effective and straightforward. Exactly what I want in skincare.
