First, the Tend concept is fine, including the positioning of television sets on the ceiling to distract you from what is happening in your mouth (although from my second visit on, the options for entertainment have continued to dwindle). However, be warned that even if Tend accepts your insurance, the specific provider who treats you may not. I learned this when I got a surprise bill for an out-of-network provider, even though I verified prior to my appointment that Tend accepts my insurance. I was told that the process is make an appointment, then as the appointment nears, call and see which providers are working that day and verify with my insurance that at least one of those specific providers is in-network. If you have nothing better to do with your time than dance at the end of a string (dental floss?), by all means, enjoy watching BBC's Planet Earth as you get your teeth cleaned. Or be prepared for a hefty out-of-network bill following your visit. As for me, I will take my business to a dentist who can assure me before I even make an appointment that I am covered.
