Spring & Mulberry Reviews

4.5

Spring & Mulberry earns strong reviews for exquisite, date‑sweetened dark chocolate that tastes smooth, complex, and not overly sweet, with standout flavors like Mango, Urfa Chili, Black Lime, Earl Grey, Lavender, and Mixed Berry. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some toppings (large dried mango, heavy salt) hinder breakability and balance, certain flavors polarize, and past supply hiccups/recall and inconsistent nut coverage appear, making it better for gifting than everyday eating.

  • I bought a bunch of the bars for my mom for Mother's day and included flavors she didn't specify she wanted. Coffee was one I took for myself and am enjoying it now, along with my boyfriend. I love coffee flavors in anything vegan. The packaging and minimal ing. is a no-brainer. The coffee is not overwhelming, just enough to taste along with the chocolate.

  • I purchased a selection of chocolate including mango chilli, pecan, and sea salt. They arrived yesterday and I’ve tried the mango and chilli - delicious; dark without bitterness, and the dates add a lovely rich sweetness. They are, however, eye-wateringly expensive, so not sure how likely I am to repurchase, though perhaps as a special occasion. I’ll report back on other flavors soon. UPDATE. Fig and fennel is marvelous, sea salt a bit disappointing. I also spotted that each bar is 60g (2.1 oz) compared to the usual 80g (2.8 oz) of other brands such as equal exchange. Verdict: lovely product, but not worth the price.

  • It’s not bad tbh but it’s not my favorite. It’s hard to judge because of the flavor imo. Not a fan of the flavor to say the least though. I really wish they had just plain old chocolate (at Whole Foods). I do appreciate the clean ingredients though and their mission. Overpriced.

  • Obsessed. I was drawn to the packaging but the product lives up to and even exceeds my expectations. I didn’t want to love these as much as I did because now I can never walk past a display without getting the lavender and rose flavor. The mango, Urfa chili, and black lime one is interesting too- sweet and sour with some heat.

In their own words

Spring & Mulberry is a modern-food-meets wellness brand exploring a world of sweet beyond sugar by showcasing the depth of flavor and sprectrum of sweetness that lies in whole, fantastic-for-you ingredients. Our first-of-their-kind date sweetened chocolate bars come in 5 stellar flavors, from Mango, Urfa Chili, Black Lime to Lavender, Bee Pollen, Rose Petal, all with 0g added sugar. The products are available at springandmulberry.com and at trendy lifestyle and food stores nationwide. The company is founded by Kathryn Shah and Sarah Bell, who've worked at iconic brands and unicorn start-ups including Veuve Clicquot and Harry's Grooming. The company was inspired by Kathryn's personal story - a trip to Dubai on the way to visit her husband’s family in India awakened her to the pleasure and beauty of dates, no longer relegated to the bulk bins of American grocery. Fast-forward a few years later and a cancer diagnosis led Kathryn to quit refined sugar and explore the healing power of foods. With nothing to satisfy her sweet tooth, Kathryn started experimenting with dates, fruits, nuts, and cacao that are the foundation of the company's products today.
