REI earns strong reviews as a reliable destination for outdoor gear, praised for helpful, knowledgeable staff, a vast selection across activities, and consistently high-quality products that perform. Reviews also flag drawbacks: higher prices on specialty gear and limited clothing size range, though the intuitive website, robust in-store guidance, and easy discovery of gear keep it a go-to for trips and beginners alike.

I have purchased from REI a handful of times for gifts for my dad. He always loves a good gift card from there. They have great brand and variety. I recently purchased a pair of Hoka sneakers online and they arrived pretty quick. No complaints!

I’ve had a great experience using the REI online platform. The website is easy to navigate, product information is detailed, and the reviews from other customers are genuinely helpful when deciding what to buy. Checkout is smooth, shipping updates are clear, and everything I’ve ordered has arrived exactly as expected. It feels like the same thoughtful, customer-focused experience REI is known for in their stores, just translated really well online.

Let me start off by saying going to REI is an experience and I have never walked out of the store dissatisfied with the service I received. They really do care about their customers and want to get you the help you need. Rather you end up purchasing from them or not they are there to answer your questions, and when you talk with their employees they treat you like you are the only person on their agenda and give you all the time you need. They have the best return policy for members and really do sell quality products. My Dad and I purchased our hiking backpacks form them prior to hiking the grand canyon. I had gotten fitted elsewhere, but my Dad got fitted at REI and he hands down got all the help he need. They helped him compare brands, products, and ultimately got him fitted for just the right backpack.
REI has such an insanely good array of offerings at all prices. This is the best spot to go before a camping or skiing trip as it has everything I needed!
