  • Sleek, minimalist design

  • Timed, guided brushing pulses
  • Convenient refill subscription
  • Weak cleaning vibration
  • Fragile head connection
  • Hard-to-remove battery parts
  • Bristles wear or feel harsh

quip earns mixed reviews: it looks refined and travels well, but its brushing performance trails true electric rivals. Reviews praise quip’s sleek, lightweight design, mirror-mounted travel cover, timed 30‑second pulses, and hassle-free refill heads (often with batteries). Many criticize weak vibrations that act more as a timer than a cleaner, bristles that feel too stiff or wear quickly, fragile heads and motors, hard-to-remove parts, and occasional mold or gunk buildup—some dentists urge switching to oscillating or higher-powered brushes.

  • Quip is a good starter brush for those getting into electric brushing. Its vibrations are gentle and the 2 minute timer is a good way to build good brushing habits. The bluetooth motor upgrade is a fun way to earn points — which you can then redeem for discounts or certain products — but overall I'd doubt the accuracy of the statistics the app shows you. The service is also good — as long as you're subscribed. My first brush broke 3-4 months of use, but Quip was happy to send me a new one after I provided photos and videos of the issue. That process was a bit tedious. My second brush broke a year or so into its use, but this time, I wasn't subscribed. Simply because I was unable to keep up with the frequency they kept sending me the standard refill kit. Quip was not happy to replace the brush this time. Their tooth paste is ok, nothing special. I haven't tried any of their other products. After having a conversation with my dentist, I'm now looking for my next electric toothbrush, preferably with stronger vibrations and more importantly, lasting build quality.

Build higher quality products and stand by them.

  • The slim travel friendly aspect of it is probably the only reason why I continue to use the toothbrush. The toothbrush vibration doesn’t do much.

    Strength of the toothbrush

  • Quip subscriber for 3 years who recently switched to a traditional electric toothbrush. I think it’s a great subscription if you need a low cost way to enter the electric toothbrush market and want to remember to consistently change the toothbrush heads. It never cleaned as deeply as I wanted though.

  • I had a subscription to Quip for 2+ years, I like the subscription model that sends new brush heads every few months. The design is sleek and the storage base is easy to stick on a bathroom surface. I ended up cancelling my subscription to switch to a bamboo toothbrush to cut down on my plastic use. My main complaint about Quip is that replacing the brush heads could be difficult and the new heads would not fully fit on the base. This would cause the head to pop off the base in the middle of brushing my teeth. I contacted customer service at one point and they did send a free replacement.

The design of the brush heads could be tweaked to make them more secure to the base, or to make replacing them an easier process.

  • I like the brush but my dentist hates it. It is expensive for replacement heads when doesn’t actually use the vibrations to clean your teeth and it’s just a timer. It’s a rip off but I do like the feel and look of the tooth brush. However, it’s no better than just a regular cheaper version.

Make a version that uses sonic vibrations to clean

  • For a travel brush this could be just ok. I’ve had a sonicare for 20+ years and this doesn’t even come close to the power that Sonicare has. It doesn’t leave my teeth feeling clean. I used to pack it as a travel toothbrush but now sonicares are pretty slim and have travel cases too so I haven’t reached for my quip in years.

Would be great to make it more powerful. Cute look and feel but at the end of the day it’s the strength of the toothbrush that matters more to me.

  • Overall a decent toothbrush product, I didn’t feel like it got the job done though which is a definite downside. I love their floss though. The toothpaste was a little to sweet for my taste and didn’t feel like it was getting my teeth clean.

More options of brush size or shape would be very helpful in order to get a full clean and good mouth feel.

  • I used a Quip electric toothbrush for a couple of years. At first I loved the product, it looks so sleek, but the visual appeal was quickly diminished by the lackluster product. After a few months, the head was loose, and would sometimes come off mid-brush, and even when I replaced the . After about a year, the 'electronic' part of the toothbrush stopped working, and even when I changed out the batteries it wouldn't start working again. Overall, it looks great on your bathroom counter, but it's not the most practical.

  • Meh, I used for about two years. While it's pretty and slim, I felt it didn't clean that well. I did like the travel cover option and found the battery lasted longer than their 3mo suggestion. My husband's recently died and mine was acting up, so I bought a knock off Sonicare. I could definitely tell a difference in cleaning with the newer one being superior. One dental assistant I spoke with said Quip wasn't as strong as others because it mostly vibrated in the body not the head.

Not strong enough vibrations in the head. Fairly high cost to maintain

  • I was an early adopter. Loved the design and the innovative cap/wall mount. The subscription is practical, if annoying (sometimes I felt the brush head was still in good shape when it was time to replace). Sadly, I left mine in a hotel in China (too easy to forget when you stick the mount to the mirror!), but I decided not to get another one because I prefer rotating bristles to sonic.

  • Quip toothbrushes are sleek in their design but seem a little less thorough than other electric toothbrushes.

  • Love my Quip toothbrush. It's so nice that I don't have to think about refills on brush heads or toothpaste. One less thing to think about is always nice!

Sometimes I don't always finish the toothpaste before the next tube is delivered! This doesn't bother me much though as toothpaste is something I can easily and frequently donate to a good cause. My only other note is that their Blue-tooth motor wasn't really worth it for me! I thought it would be cool to have analytics for my dental hygiene, but the bluetooth pairing was really inconsistent and the app felt kind of cheap so I stopped using it after only a short while. I'd skip that if I were you!

  • It's really easy to build good hygiene habits when your routine looks cool and work well. Quip takes all the friction out of building consistency and cleaning all of your teeth. I've had my handle for a over a year and I don't see it leaving my life anytime soon.

    Feedback

I wish the brush wasn't so round? I've had it roll off of the counter a few times which isn't desirable when you share a communal bathroom area in college. Maybe have just one part of the handle not rounded?

  • I love my Quip toothbrush. Been using it for nearly 3 years now. Product is slick, battery life is great, and I like how easy it is to transport. I even accidently broke one trying to replace one of the brush heads, and Quip was super kind and sent me a replacement.

I wish the toothbrush bristles lasted longer. Mine always seem to get a tad beat up early, but that's probably because I brush too hard.

  • Love-hate relationship! I've always had good customer service experiences, and I love the concept, but I've had many issues with the head of the toothbrush not staying on right, and it turning off in the middle of brushing. I do love the subscription service so I know my brush heads aren't getting worn out, but I just wish they stayed put after replacement.

  • I've been using my Quip for a whiiiiiiile now. And my dentist is always impressed with how clean and bright my teeth are. Dying to try the new gum, however. The ads on Who? Weekly really get me!

I HATE the holder. It loses its stickiness so it isn't actually great for travel at all.

  • I bought a Quip in like 2017 and haven't really looked back since. I used to have a bulky electric toothbrush with charger and stand that I hated traveling with and making space for in my bathroom. I will say the plastic has broken on me once before (and for several friends of mine that also have quip) but CS was great about replacing it. I wish I'd gotten the metal version but see no reason to replace as of now since my plastic one is still going strong for years now. I find this the best no hassle, sleek and simple option. Maybe isn't THE most award winning for its tooth cleaning abilities but has kept me so on track with my dental hygiene routine that I can't complain.

  • A freak about oral hygiene over here 👋🏻 Once forgot my beloved Sonicare at home while away for a week and decided I'd give a Quip a go. It was meh. Vibration was lackluster and bristles were too soft to get a good clean. Served the purpose for the week, nice that it's compact and fit in my dopp kit while traveling, but was happy to return home to my Sonicare.

  • Extremely underwhelmed, I'm a sucker for well-designed products and marketing campaigns but the actual toothbrush was way too stiff.

Having options for the brush head would maybe make me reconsider.
