Reviews mention

  • Research-backed supplement formulation
  • Noticeably thicker, healthier hair
  • Reduced shedding for many
  • Stronger nails and eyelashes
  • Large capsules, difficult swallowing
  • Fishy taste and smell
  • High daily pill burden
  • Inconsistent hair growth results

Nutrafol earns mixed reviews: many report noticeably thicker, shinier hair and reduced shedding after 3 months, while others see little or no change even with long-term use. Strengths include research-backed formulas and visible regrowth for some, but drawbacks recur—four to six large capsules daily, strong fishy taste/smell, and inconsistent results across users.

  • I tried Nutrafol Root Purifier Shampoo yesterday and was impressed! My scalp felt really clean, yet my hair didn’t look or feel stripped or dried out. I also don’t think a 1-time use is enough to really know, however, I didn’t lose as much hair as usual when I combed it out. I’d definitely like to try it longer term. This is the only product of theirs I’ve tried, but I’d love to try a few more. I also looked into pricing and find it competitive.

  • I have been taking these for a few weeks now and I don’t know if I see a difference yet but I ordered a 6 month pack so I will see. I keep reading good reviews. I will say the pills are big and you have to take 4 a day so that has been the only annoying thing.

  • Their website is so easy to navigate. I just started my nutrafol postpartum journey but I've heard such great things! you take 4 pills which sounds daunting, but they go down so easily! The glass jar it comes in also feels so high end compared to any other vitamin I take which I can appreciate. Can't wait to see all my postpartum baby hairs sprout back! (also if youre a mama or mama-to-be reading this...congratulations!)

  • I've been using the Women 45+ capsules for a few years since noticing my hair was thinning and not what it used to be. Nutrafol is the real deal for me - my hair is visibly thicker, healthier and I may shed less but the main thing is I have my hair back. I had visible scalp thinning from aging and I don't worry about that anymore. The price is worth it, the deals are good and I can't say enough how impressed and grateful I am for trying this product. I tried a few other supplements for hair growth with no results, this did the trick. Well worth giving it a try though consistency and patience are also needed. Five stars all around for me - thank goodness.

  • I personally think this has been really helpful with my hair growth. The only negative part about this is the pricing. It does become a little pricey after time, but due to it working so well I tend to find it worth it.

  • It is 100% worth it. I don't need to take any other vitamin. Covers it all. And the hair growth? Unbelievable. My hair was dry and thinning and I tried so many expensive products! After 3 weeks of taking Nutrafol, the results were incredible. And I wasn't the only one who saw it. I got so many compliments on my hair. My stylist was surprised I came back so quickly for a trim. She said she'd never seen my hair look healthy.

  • I use this every night inside of a breo hair massager knock off. I don’t actually know how much it’s helping. I’m trying to supplement on collagen and colostrum in hopes that this will also help. One of these things is helping.

  • I purchased Nutrafol women for my shedding hair. I liked the idea but ended up not liking the product. There was too many health warnings going around that didn’t make me feel safe to continue taking the product so I decided to discontinue. I didn’t notice a difference.

  • I will say if you're a person who doesn't like the smell of fish this might not be for you. I didn't like the smell of seafood it gave off but kept using them because I had seen results. The title might say hair growth, but I also noticed it was growing my nails and I bite my nails every day. The best way for me to take the pill is, I make sure once I have it in my mouth I instantly grab my sugar-free juice and swallow it down quickly. In my opinion, I still can taste the fish collagen, but it helps me a little bit to hide the taste of it. I will admit four pills a day I think is a lot, but it is fine by me because I only take these, b12 and iron pills. I think if you take more pills than me it could be too much. I know if you didn't take collagen before and start taking it, people can get a rash but I didn't. I started to see results after a month of taking it, I don't have thin hair but lost a lot due to bleaching it. I noticed my hair does feel thicker, and I know it did because once my hair turns back healthy it tends to try to make knots because my natural wave pattern came back, instead of being straight.

  • I took the women's hair supplement for a year and saw no change whatsoever which is really disappointing for the price point. If you're looking for a multivitamin, even specifically for hair loss, there are definitely cheaper ones out there. Also it was nice that the pills came in a glass jar but there are even more eco-friendly ways of getting a refill like a biodegradable pouch, or something along those lines.

  • Very good product. I feel they are very effective, even when taking half the dose. However, they are too expensive for me to purchase monthly at the moment.

  • Have had occasional issues with hair shedding and Nutrafol always seems to help it stop. I really don't think it's a coincidence either. I tried a competing supplement that didn't help, but this always has. I think it's good for more than just hair growth as well. Can't speak for the products other than the supplements, but I'm a believer.

  • I subscribed to Nutrafol for a several months. I found taking 6 pills a day a bit too much and I did not notice a marked improvement in my overall hair growth. As for their 'physician consultation', I doubt that it was a real physician - I think the information I gleaned was very basic and already knew. The pills also had a very strong taste.

6 pills a day is a lot to swallow.

  • I was hesitant to try Nutrafol due to the very high price and the subscription model. I am using the hair supplements and I do think they are helping with curbing my hair loss. After 3 months, my hair is less sparse and I do not see my scalp as much as before, so I am going to continue with the product for another 3 months. I do also use minoxidil so that's probably helping too. I've tried many other cheaper oral supplements like DHT blockers and other Hair vitamins, but nothing else has worked. I also tried Vegamour which made my hair fall out more !! so this is the best I've found so far.

  • I've dealt with autoimmune-related hair loss for 15+ years (alopecia areata flare-ups, seborrheic dermatitis caused by allergies, etc), and while eating nourishing foods, mindful movement, and stress reduction have been the most important contributors to my hair's regrowth, nutrafol is a really close second. i've been taking the supplements with a few months off at times (because it is an expensive supplement), and i definitely notice a difference in the pace of hair growth. when i first started taking it, i noticed a change after 3 months in my hair feeling bouncier when air dried, looking a little shinier. my hair used to be pretty flat to my head and looked dull. it's a subtle difference but it builds over time.

i wish it was less expensive (even though i do think it's worth the money if you're needing hair growth quickly), and i kind of wish you didn't have to take four capsules at once.

  • My primary care physician actually mentioned this product to me when I came to her about issues with hair loss as being one of the few products on the market with the best research. I have been taking their supplements for about 6 months and I think it's working. My hair definitely feels thicker.

You have to take 4 pills a day and they are pretty expensive. It's nice though that you can pay quarterly for a discounted price and then they ship you 3 months worth at a time to save on shipping (and better for the environment!).

  • Been taking the hair growth supplements for about 6 months now. I wish I had more discernible progress. It's definitely not hurting... and I think it's made my eyelash grow quite nicely, but other progress isn't as obvious. It's also a pricy subscription to maintain.

  • I've mainly taken just the Nutrafol Women vitamins. I'm unsure if its made my hair grow better, but I do notice my nails feel a little stronger when I'm very consistent in taking them. I think if you have a different type of hairloss than hormonal, they may be more beneficial. My derm called them the 'gold standard' for hair vitamins.

4 pills is a large dose and it is definitely expensive for each bottle. I do like that I can pause the subscription when I get behind though.
