Reviews mention

  • Refined, natural-leaning fragrances
  • Gentle, sensitive-skin formulas
  • Smooth, comfortable application
  • Attractive, sustainable packaging
  • Inconsistent odor protection longevity
  • White residue and shirt staining
  • Occasional gritty, sticky texture
  • Body wash sometimes feels drying

Native earns praise for clean ingredients, standout scents (Coconut & Vanilla, Cucumber & Mint, Lilac & White Tea, Citrus & Herbal Musk) and comfortable, non-irritating wear for many, but reviews say performance is inconsistent: the deodorant often fades by midday, struggles in heat/workouts, can leave white residue or shirt stains, and some experience rashes or gritty texture. Reviews of body wash and hair care skew positive for gentle lather and pleasant aromas, though a few find body wash drying and shampoos underwhelming. Overall, Native is a good natural option if you don’t sweat heavily and will reapply; heavy sweaters may need stronger protection.

  • This is a review for their deodorants and body washes. I was on a health kick and decided that I wanted to try a “healthier” “cleaner” version of deodorant and body washed and I was very pleased with the items I received. Specifically, I used the eucalyptus & mint body wash and the accompanying deodorant. I love the body wash. I like that it doesn’t have any sulfates but is still able to create a rich later, and smells incredible! The deodorant also smells great and I was able to get through an entire workout and not smell anywhere near as bad as I thought I would. The big negative, which is more of a me than them thing is that it seems I’m allergic to the baking soda which is giving me a bit of a rash on my armpit.

(Minus one star for no baking soda less alternative, as it is a known allergic reaction.) I will also note that while the deodorant did a great job during my workout you will still be able to smell more of a BO odor than you would with regular deodorant as the aluminum prevents you from sweating, and with sweat comes BO.

  • I love this deodorant. They always come out with new, unique scents that I enjoy. I’ve been using Native for probably about 2 years now. As someone whose armpits sweat like crazy, I still smell great!

I wish there was more of an antiperspirant effect, however, there really isn’t an OTC antiperspirant on the market that does a significantly better job than Native.

  • Personally, I don't think that it works well. I sweat a lot and found that Native didn't do anything different for me compared to other natural deodorants. I like their compostable packing options though, just not the product inside.

  • I liked this deodorant at first. They have fun scents (although the price is a little steep). This is definitely just a deodorant and not an antiperspirant. After using it for a year or so I suddenly developed a rash to it which was unfortunate but it went away as soon as I stopped using it.

  • I enjoy the scents they carry, but perhaps I’m just too sweaty of a person for these. I don’t think they are the best at prevent swear, but then again they are not an antiperspirant. This is just a deodorant that you wear around the home, or for general chilling. For the gym, you may want to opt for something stronger.

  • The smell is great, but the the product was ineffective for me and felt too greasy.

It just doesn't work. I am not a particularly heavy sweater, but I could smell my armpits within hours.

  • I love the fragrance range and how they have cardboard options now to reduce waste. These obviously don't work as well as the hard-core Secret and Old Spice deodorants, but I've been pleasantly surprised by these and have stuck with Native for over a year.

  • As a certified Very Stinky Person, I don’t get the Native hype. The fragrance options are great, but they don’t do a whole lot odor-wise. Their availability in Target is nice for those who seek aluminum-free alternatives, but I’ve yet to see a groundbreaking formula from them.

Invest in some functional ingredients. Charcoal simply isn’t cutting it and neither is baking soda.

  • These deodorants are pretty good! They smell really nice and last for hours. In hot weather, I would usually have to reapply at least once throughout the day, but I feel like that's pretty standard with deodorants that aren't antiperspirants.

  • None of these deodorants have worked for me. I have superrr sensitive skin so I can’t use dove or secret, thought this would be it but this stuff does not hold up. I end up re-applying constantly, honestly just doesn’t work. Use Megababe instead!!

    Feedback

    Terrible quality.

  • It’s good for what it is: affordable, available and smells good. But it is not for any day with activities more strenuous than walking through Target.

  • I picked up the Coconut body wash because of the minimalist aesthetic of the packaging…and that’s about all I like about it. I will say that my extremely sensitive skin hasn’t reacted to this formula, but it also strips my skin badly. I like coconut scents but this smells like coconut candle wax in a bleh way.

    Feedback

More hydrating formula and nicer Coconut scent

  • These are okay! Some of the scents don't mix well with natural body odor/sweat but there are some that are tolerable! I mainly choose these because I am allergic to aluminium.

  • Sadly... this is one of those natural deodorants that left my underarms with a crazy painful rash that turned into a crazy painful scab after about 2 uses. They smell really nice so I wish it worked out for me, but if you are someone who tends to have that reaction to natural deodorants, I'd say try a different one! Packaging is cute and scents are good, but oof that rash.

  • This product did not work for me at all. I loved the idea but it didn't perform.

    Feedback

It didn't last a full day. I felt unprotected.

  • The scents are good but the formula wasn't strong enough to be effective. Proctor & Gamble bought this brand in 2017.

  • Great scents. Also the longest I’ve been able to use a more natural deodorant without developing a rash in my armpits.

  • Love the packaging and smell. It's clean and has a good variety of smells.

I used it for a couple of months, but it did not prevent the underarm sweating and I was soaked by the end of the day during the summer. They should maybe provide clear instructions on how to incorporate aluminum-free deodorant into your life to help ensure users understand that your body takes a while to readjust.

  • Wanted to try a natural deodorant so picked up the mini size in mint & cucumber and I really like it! It took a few wears to get used to it. Initially stung a little bit, but with time my body adapted to the switch. Would love to try other scents!

    Feedback

More scents in the mini size!

  • Although a lot of people pick natural deodorant due to fears about health risks from aluminum antipersperant, this hasn't been shown in scientific literature to be a health risk. However, if it's a personal preference, this is THE best one to use- and I've tried a bunch. The eucalyptus and mint is one of the best smells I've ever used, and it actually seems to keep me from getting smelly throughout the day.

Oils in the deodorant can stain clothes- user beware if you put on something silky or satiny right after applying.
