Reviews mention

  • Luxe packaging and unboxing experience
  • Creamy, gentle cleanser texture
  • Noticeably brighter, effective serum
  • Hydrating, plumping post-cleanse feel
  • Residue-heavy cleansing performance
  • Divisive physical exfoliant particles
  • Inconsistent results for oily skin
  • Subtle scent with mixed reception

Motif earns largely positive reviews for luxe packaging and gentle, creamy formulas that leave skin soft, hydrated, and sometimes visibly plumper—especially the Power Serum, which brightens. However, reviews also flag shortcomings: the Abundance cleanser can feel residue-heavy, under-cleans oily or makeup-wearing skin, its physical exfoliant bits divide users, and overall efficacy (plumping, deep cleanse) varies. Many reviewers like the ritual and sensory experience but question repurchasing at full price.

  • This product felt more like a mask rather than a real cleanser. It doesn't clean through completely and leaves an oily residue. After using it just by itself for a week, I could see my skin getting clogged and had to start up my old routine again. For $65, I'd expect something a lot better.

I do really like the packing and texture of the bottle-- definitely gives off the feeling of luxury. The texture of the mask as well is nice and feels exfoliating.

  • The abundance cleanser made my skin feel great--moisturized and noticeably plumper. The scent is nice and so is the packaging.

This cleanser is pretty expensive--that's really all that would keep me from buying again.

  • The Motiff face wash I got was amazing it has slight exfoliation but not too much and it smells great. My face always feels so soft and clean after using it.

  • Very luscious and rich cream-type cleanser that felt more like a mask than a cleanser. Adored the packaging and the whole unboxing experience felt very high quality, which is expected for the price. The ingredient list felt substantial though completely unsure of efficacy regarding it's 'plumping' and 'hydrating' claims. Though my skin didn't feel like it was stripping nor did my skin feel tight with other cleaners. Overall, would use in tandem with other cleansers, opting for Motif every other day as a cleansing mask.

Glad I stumbled upon the product! Unsure if I would repurchase at the moment, but time will tell.

  • This is a high quality product that you can really feel in action. Do heed the instructions to use with cool water. I made the mistake of using with hot water and you can REALLY feel it in action that way! Overall it left my skin feeling energized in a way my other skin products never have.

Echoing other reviews the retail price is the only downside to an otherwise great product. If they could bring the price point down a bit it would become accessible to a larger audience and have a greater impact on the industry. Without that it remains a luxury product with tough competition.

  • I love the branding and packaging, and feel like this is a product that could stay on top of the counter/near the sink rather than be put away. On the same note, I think this would make a really lux gift. The formula is really nice too–creamy but not foamy with light exfoliation that doesn't feel like a harsh scrub. I don't mind natural scents so I prefer no scent to overly perfume-y. The best part though is how soft and moisturized my skin feels after using. I definitely recommend and am looking forward to future products,

I would probably keep this near my sink but because of the narrow base, it tends to fall over a lot. A sturdier base would be helpful!

  • I really am enjoying this cleanser, it feels rich and moisturizing without leaving an oily film. It looks beautiful hanging out in my shower and a little goes a long way so I'm excited to get good use out of it. I will say, as most of the others have said here, the price tag is just far above where I would normally go. If its well within your budget I say go for it, it has a more luxe feel than others I've tried, but if it's a financial stretch, it's not life changing. I am really enjoying it while it lasts though!

Maybe they could consider offering travel sizes at a reduced rate for people who want a little treat without breaking the bank? $65 plus shipping is a pretty steep price tag for most people.

  • Okay, I love skincare but cleansers are usually the least interesting to thing to me when it comes to my skincare routine. I've stuck to the same cleanser for a long time because it has helped keep acne and oil under control and was gentle on my skin, but it wasn't something I was in love with, but I also didn't want to rock the boat with my cleanser. I love trying out new skincare products, though, so I was excited to receive this in my Thingdrop just to see what this brand is all about. I've used it for the past week or so and am truly LOVING this cleanser and am excited to use it. I love that it has gentle exfoliation in it, can be used as a mask for brightening, and leaves my skin feeling SO SOFT after washing it off. It hasn't seemed to irritate my skin and I do think my skin is looking brighter since using it. It's a very luxurious feeling product and one that I think lots of people will enjoy. I was a little worried that having that gentle exfoliation everyday would irritate my skin, but so far I think my dry winter skin has actually liked having that dead skin buffed off everyday (but I'll update if I notice that it's not liking it anymore). I will say you should have products that are ready to help protect your skin barrier if you use this just in case your skin doesn't tolerate that exfoliation, but so far I think my skin is actually loving it. Also I want to mention that the packaging feels very luxurious, from the bottle to the way it's packaged and the imagery that's used. Definitely will make you feel like you're up-leveling your routine!

I would LOVE to make this my regular cleanser after I'm finished with my Thingdrop sample, however I am a little nervous that the price tag will make me and others not be able to purchase this regularly. I may buy it to use as a cleanser a couple times a week in the future to stretch the product out, but I really would love to be able to use this everyday. They do have a subscription option that helps lower the price some which could work well, but the price is definitely something I'm thinking about when it comes to repurchasing.

  • To be honest, I didn't notice a huge change in my skin. I used Motif every night to clean my face, then followed up with micellar water to catch anything I missed. I still developed pimples every week, and sometimes felt like the exfoliating ingredient (luffa fruit?) felt quite rough on the skin. My skin is pretty sensitive, and I noticed that I actually started developing less pimples after switching to a gentler, cheaper cleanser from CeraVe. The mask-like texture did feel nice on the skin, but beyond that I don't think I would buy a full-size version of this cleanser.

  • I think some people will really love this product, I like it but don’t love because I’m a big texture person. It’s thick so only a little is needed . I like my face wash to be a little less thick and lather a little, this does not. It cleans very well and scent is fine. However personal preference I prefer a soft cleaner scent. But nothing was wrong with scent. Just not my favorite but skin is clean after, I’m just not a huge fan.

Not so thick and a little lather

  • really beautiful packaging and experience using the cleanser. It does smell like a mud mask that I used to have (and was a bit too harsh for my liking)-- which was initially off-putting but doesn't bother me much anymore. Love that you can leave the product on, which I like to do in a steamy shower. can definitely attest to it being a hydrating cleaner, it doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped especially now during a Northeast winter. have not used it long enough to say whether it truly "plumps" the skin-- right now I would say it just hydrates.
