Motif Reviews

4.0

Motif earns largely positive reviews for luxe packaging and gentle, creamy formulas that leave skin soft, hydrated, and sometimes visibly plumper—especially the Power Serum, which brightens. However, reviews also flag shortcomings: the Abundance cleanser can feel residue-heavy, under-cleans oily or makeup-wearing skin, its physical exfoliant bits divide users, and overall efficacy (plumping, deep cleanse) varies. Many reviewers like the ritual and sensory experience but question repurchasing at full price.

  • The Motif Abundance Cleanser definitely has nice qualities. It’s creamy, has a subtle texture, and I like that it can double as a mask. I also appreciate the idea of it being a two-in-one, since I like products that can be multipurpose. That said the actual performance DID NOT live up to the price tag. At $65, I expected a more thorough cleanse but I felt like there was still a layer left on my skin after rinsing. If this were in the $30–40 range, I’d consider it again, but as it stands I’ll probably stick with my usual cleanser.

  • I’ve been using the Abundance exfoliant from Motif, and overall I do like the product- the texture is nice, the ingredient list is thoughtful, and it feels gentle on the skin. My only wish is that it exfoliated a bit more effectively. I find myself wanting just a touch more polish or noticeable smoothness after using it.

  • It's an interesting cleanser -- it's a bit creamier than you expect a cleanser to be and the texture of it is a bit oily with a few small "rough pieces." It doesn't foam much at all. To me, it almost feels like putting on a mask as a cleanser. It seems to clean OK, but can I really say it is transformative? No. And it's a pricey cleanser. I think it's a good product that probably promises too much for something that stays on a minute on your face.

  • I have tried their entire offering and do see results, however I think the most effective is the Power Serum. It made my complexion noticeably brighter and when I did not repurchase in time I saw a difference. I love that it’s women owned and I love the results, the packaging is lux and the team is great! My only barrier is the pricing, it is a stretch for me and I am a skincare spender -- I assume it would also be one for many people unfamiliar with the premium skincare realm.
