Reviews mention

  • Effective breakout-drying lotion
  • Refreshing, aromatic facial mists
  • Hydrating, soothing night cream
  • Gentle, calming cleansers
  • Heavy-fragrance formulations
  • Alcohol-forward, astringent toners
  • Inconsistent product efficacy
  • Irritating textures and nozzles

Mario Badescu earns mixed-to-positive reviews: the Drying Lotion consistently works to flatten breakouts quickly, facial sprays feel refreshing and soothing, and several cleansers and creams leave skin soft and hydrated; however, many reviews flag heavy fragrance and alcohol, occasional irritation or over-drying, and inconsistent efficacy across products. Reviews of Mario Badescu also reference past concerns about undisclosed steroid ingredients, nozzle issues on some mists, and scents some find too strong, making the brand a selective buy for targeted solutions rather than a full routine.

  • All time fav, has been one of my favorites since I was a kid- great for sensitive skin. I use the blue herbal hydrating serum every day to stave off flakiness for my ultra dry sensitive skin! Seriously the only thing that will keep me hydrated under lotion and makeup - especially in dry offices! Highly recommend!

  • Used to like the rose face spray, but found out that a lot of products contain drying alcohols

  • I know Mario Badescu is carried in Department stores, but I think it could be improved as far as the efficacy of their products.

  • Quality products for skin care!

  • Rating is based primarily on the drying lotion which is very effective! I have used the cucumber cleansing gel and toner and some moisturiser in the past but I don’t think they left too much of a mark as I didn’t purchase again. The drying lotion however, is like magic. It looks a little odd walking around with pale pink spots on your face but I tend to stay indoors while I let it do its job. And do it well! I also use one of their mists before I apply hyaluronic acid on my skin. I could probably use any spritzing product but I quite like the Mario Badescu ones. Perhaps because the fragrance isn’t too offensive. Or perhaps because the drying lotion comes in a gift set with the spritz. Take your pick.

I found the face wash that I used to be far too astringent for my skin but having only tried one range I can’t speak for the others. I would highly recommend the drying lotion to anyone who gets the occasional or regular monthly spots.

  • The only product that I like of Mario Badescu is their drying lotion. It works great on drying out pimples but has a very strong smell.

  • I feel like Thingtesting was spawned because of the proliferation of Instagram brands and I'm here to say that 99% of them aren't worth it. I have Insta brand exhaustion. Which has caused me to go back to the tried and true brands like Kheils, Santa Maria Novella and Mario Badescu. If it's good enough for Martha it's good enough for me.

  • This place has amazing hydration sprays which can wake up your skin at anytime during your day

  • The drying lotion is kind of gross to look at and on the skin, but a classic for a reason. It's great at calming down angry, painful zits. Make sure not to shake it - just dip a q tip into the pink stuff at the bottom and dot it on your zit. Lasts forever since you only need a little.

  • Been around for decades. Simple and clean ingredients. Love

  • Tried the pink drying lotion years ago and was not impressed. Also tried the trio of facial mists for a trip to the beach. They were quite handy and gave me that extra hydration that one needs at the beach. The scents were nice and not overpowering. I would probably try the mist again but not the drying lotion.

  • I am reviewing this product because I believe it’s really the only good one as far as facial products in their entire line. The products are filled with nasties but this night cream is extremely rich and hydrating for the driest skin, and unfortunately I have the driest skin. Doesn’t break me out and it’s affordable.

  • This has become an integral part of our daily routine and is really worth trying

  • I have tried almost all of their products and I love them. About mid-price. Really like them as a brand.

  • I’ve used various Mario Badescu products, and the ones I repeatedly purchase are the glycolic acid cleanser, drying lotion, and facial spray. My top choice is the drying lotion - it works wonders on cystic acne or deeper pimples. Sometimes the white of the drying solution is tough to get off, but if you use some of the liquid in the bottle it comes off simply. The facial spray is great to have in my car after a long day of a work, and the glycolic acid cleanser is nice to travel with. Big fan and lasts me awhile.

  • While using this brand when it got really popular, I tried multiple products. I did not find myself very impressed. The rose water facial spray smelled and felt like it was mostly alcohol. I felt it dried out my skin more than hydrated it. The drying lotion however, I believe worked really well at drying up any new blemishes . I still use this product on an active breakout.

  • I already used VITAMIN C SERUM by Mario Badescu. As a vegetarian person who cares about the environment, animals and health, I try to use products that are cruelly-free and as natural as possible and this brand did not disappoint!

It helped my skin a lot, with a daytime routine.

  • Not a fan. There seem to be a lot of ingredients that cause irritation, such as fragrance, dye and denatured alcohol… I’ve tried out the rose water spray years ago and it caused more harm than good for me (irritation).

Skin-friendly formulations are essential to skincare! It’s not effective skincare if the formulation doesn’t actually provide care for your skin. Not to mention, the brand has been sued for “higher than prescription-strength doses of triamcinolone acetonide”. Ethics and values are important to me when I look for a brand, so I don’t think I’ll repurchase from this brand; there are just so many better brands out there.
