Literally every time I’ve tried one of these just add water type of quick meals I’ve ended up hating it, but I was looking for something healthy as a standby for days my wfh schedule doesn’t leave much room for making lunch. They had interesting flavors, so I very tentatively ordered 2 to try. Given what these are I was very pleasantly surprised. The flavors I’ve had have been very tasty and if you add a bit of cheese, sour cream or chilli crunch to give them a boost they re pretty delishious and healthy. We always keep a few of the Tomato Bolognese and Vegetable Harvest on standby now as quick fill ins for meals.
Being the busy (and lazy) person that I am, I always am on the lookout for quick meals I can make at home if I have no leftovers in the fridge and no fresh ingredients. I came upon the brand Lentiful on the grocery website Feed, and decided to try it because I am a huge fan of soups and stews, and I feel lentils are adjacent to that. I chose the French Mirepoix flavor- as I mentioned I love stews and this seemed very similar to a French-style stew. This one is chock-full of veggies such as carrots, celery, and leeks. My favorite way to eat vegetables is when they are softened in a stew (let's just say I am not a salad lover), so I knew this would be up my alley. And I ended up really liking this item! The lentils were super easy to cook. Just add water and microwave them. Everything cooked well and was steaming hot when I started eating. I enjoyed the flavor quite a bit, though I personally would remove the fennel altogether, and lessen the amount of lemon. For the amount of time it takes to make this meal, you cannot find something quicker and more healthy than this. Even at around $5 a serving, I still think that is a fair price for the quality and results I got. I want to try the Homestyle Chili and Mexican Green Chile next, though I am also curious how the Thai Coconut flavor would taste.
As a vegetarian I love to find a quick protein packed meal. I ordered the variety pack which took a bit to arrive. These lentils have really great flavors and I really liked the chili. Overall, they were pretty good but pretty dry.
I tried the Cinnamon Apple and the Thai Coconut. I liked the Cinnamon Apple a lot, it would be a great alternative to oats for breakfast every now and then. The Thai Coconut I found extremely brand. Aside from a couple of extremely flavorful bites, it was overwhelmingly bland and didn't really hit the notes described on the package. From a portion standpoint, I think it's good as a breakfast size, but for lunch or dinner you'd either need to supplement with other food or eat it as a side. I would not buy these again. At $5 per portion, it's expensive for what it is and I didn't like them enough to justify that price point. When it comes down to $3, we can talk about buying more of those Cinnamon Apple ones for breakfast. Edit: I have now tried the Mexican Chile version and that one was my favorite of the three, but I still don't plan to purchase again at $5.
Lentiful is a quick and convenient option when I need to pack a lunch to eat in the office. The flavor is well balanced and simply following the instructions yields perfectly cooked lentils each time. I highly recommend to anyone looking to spice up their sad desk lunch!
I bought a variety pack of these to try. I was very interested in finding something super quick and easy to make for lunch and I'm on a low salt diet and liked that most of the flavors wasn't too high in sale. The Mexican Green Chile was the most flavorful and probably my favorite of the savory options. The Thai Coconut was the least flavorful which I was disappointed since I thought that would be my favorite. I was pretty skeptical of the Cinnamon Apple because I wasn't sure how that would go with lentils, but I actually loved it! It's important to follow the directions; the first time I missed that you should keep the lid on after cooking, but the experience was pretty easy to prepare. I agree with the other reviewer that I wish portions were a little bigger, or the price was $1 less.. I felt like I needed to make something in addition for lunch. Edit - I’ve since tried the Pineapple chorizo flavor and that is now my favorite!

I've now tried two flavors of this and both had the same issue of a sort of powdery, chalky mouth-feel. The lentils cook nicely and the flavors are overall very good, but the textures are a problem for me. I won't buy more after finishing what I've got.
