Both my wife and I LOVED the Malaysian Red Curry. Far and away the best "kit" we have ever had for this type of meal. The spice level was just right, and the flavors melded together perfectly with the protein (shrimp) we added and the rice it was served over. I received my first kit for free, and have already gone out and bought two more b/c we loved it so much. The only caveat I would add is that, as an earlier reviewer noted, the suggested serving sizes are rather small: the kit says it contains 4 servings, which may be accurate if you're using this as a side dish. As a main course, however, it's closer to 2 servings. That having been said, whatever the serving size, it tastes amazing.

It's very flavorful and smells wonderful. It reminds me of satay with a slight kick. The spicy is mild and sodium level is quite high. It also serves as a good soup base for hot pot. Perfect for the cold days!

My experience with the products has been beyond satisfactory.  I use the spice kits to make warm dishes with tofu, chicken, and vegetables, and I use sambal to make salad, rice, and cold noodles.  I love their products so much that I also buy them as gifts.  Apart from their tasty products that go with all sorts of dishes, I enjoy receiving their product tracking messages accompanied with neat graphics - always a pleasant bonus.  Highly recommend! 

Easy to follow recipe tastes great and makes a wonderful meal

I liked these because they were easy to use and flavor was great. Not sure if I would buy again though because I could make my own sauce for less money 

I'd love a larger pack, or maybe a bottle/tube to dispense from? Sometimes I want a little more than 2 servings (1 pack), but don't have enough ingredients to make 4 servings.

These spice packs make cooking a meal quick and easy! I usually shy away from cuisines that require a lot of spices I don't own, so this prepared mix has been perfect for me. I'm still learning how to cook meat alternatives (with hit or miss success haha) so these kits have been a lifesaver

I love how easy it is to get quality meals made at home for dishes that sound very hard to source all the ingredients together. The laksa was great, and the Indonesian rendang was also very delicious. I know the Malaysian red curry will be amazing, as I will be preparing that for dinner tonight. I just love how approachable Homiah has made southeast Asian cooking - and not limiting it to the conventional "Asian aisle" packed curries at the grocery store. We now have options and diversity. 

The packaging is gorgeous but it seems to be a lot of extra paper waste. I'd love to see a more earth-friendly shipment! Otherwise, this is a must-have.

Typically, pre-mixed spices are a waste of money. They tend to be loaded with filler, midrange quality product, and are overpriced for what they are. 

I grew up in Singapore. I have a nose for good spices. These are high-quality spice mixes. Are the flavors perfect? No. But are they as close as you can get without importing? YES! 

On busy nights, not having to haul out a dozen spices is a godsend. I would absolutely buy these again.

Indicate how big the pieces should be for anything that needs to be cut up and added to the curry.

I am definitely a beginner cook but I am always looking for ways to make my life easier when I do decide to cook. However, I am a huge fan of food, so I would love to be able to make recipes at home that are easy and delicious. Homiah seems like an excellent option for some people, but I do not think it really hit the mark for me. 

I decided to make the red curry as that is the one my brother wanted us to make and normally this would be too much food for me. I used my favorite Caraway pan to cook the curry, and things for the most part went well. It was super simple to make. But for me as a beginner chef who did not grow up eating curries, it was not immediately obvious how big to cut the chicken, potatoes, or carrots.  I think a pointer for how big the pieces should be would be helpful, as some potato pieces were not fully cooked. I cannot say the end result was aesthetically pleasing, as almost none of the dishes I make are. I am always left wondering, was it something I did, or is it just the recipe? The picture of the curry on the website does not look very thick at all, so I think this was how it was supposed to turn out (though the liquid had some ingredient separation as you can see in the picture I included). However, the most notable difference is that the sauce did not seem to really permeate the rest of the ingredients as it appears to on the website. And overall this dish was not too flavorful, especially compared to curries from restaurants. It did have a little kick to it that forced me to get some milk, but it was not crazy spicy, which was good since the package only showed two chilis out of four.

It is possible that this is exactly what the dish is supposed to taste like, as it is Malaysian curry. Around me, there are not really Malaysian restaurants, though I have had lots of Thai and Indian food. I still do hope to eventually try the other two spice kits that were given to me, though I will have to wait until I see my brother again since this makes too much for just me! And that brings me to my conclusion that this was just not for me. I would rather spend my money at a restaurant that sells curry than have to buy a spice kit, chicken, potatoes, carrots, and coconut milk. To me eating out is almost always worth it since it guarantees a tasty meal, no dishes, and almost always leftovers. But obviously, someone with a family would have a very different viewpoint than this. Maybe I would have come to a better conclusion had I chosen a different dish to make, but only time will tell if my decision will change!

My only negative feedback is due to personal preference. I love spicy food and the kits just didn't have the spice level that I like...but that is an easy fix! 

I used to live in Southeast, so I was excited to stumble upon Homiah. The spice kits taste just like some of my favorite flavors in SE Asia that are hard to find in the States. I also like that each spice kit makes 2 meals, so it's pretty inexpensive for what you're getting. I also don't love to cook, so being able to add my favorite protein and vegetables made the process really simple and enjoyable. I also appreciate that each kit is vegan and gluten/soy free. 




I loved the convenience and high quality of the sauce packets. The instructions were accurate and the flavor was delicious, and most of the options aren’t meals that I have ingredients for at home so it was fun to try new things out. 

One packet of sauce is more than enough for two people - I would venture to say it would serve 3 - 4 if you're cooking for kids or lighter eaters.

This far exceeded my expectations. There are some basic outlines of how to use the simmer sauce on the back of the packet which gave me enough confidence to get a little fancy with it. The meal turned out excellent and required very little work on my part. 

This kit provides the ingredients you need to make a quick, flavorful Asian meal. I made a meal with chicken and rice. It is flavorful, spicy, but not hot. It made mealtime more exciting.

Would be helpful to have a variety of sizes... these are at best for 2 people and we've got a family of five!

Delicious and easy to prepare. Most Americans aren't familiar with Indonesian flavors but I can say that these were quite authentic and brought back happy memories of travel there. Wonderful kits!

Love the spice kits, made some really delicious meals. I love how it gives a wide variety of proteins that you can make these dinners with 

I think the portion sizes might be a bit off. Or maybe it’s me… for dinner for 2, we used both packets and had a small portion of leftovers. Honestly I got the same sense of shame that I get when my takeout order for 1 arrives with 5 sets of chopsticks. Again, might be a me problem. Aside from my sense of shame, Homiah had great flavor and was easy to use. 

It took me a few months to use all three flavors, but we finally did this last weekend and I loved the Indonesian rendang kit the most. We made it with tofu and mushrooms. Excellent flavor, I added a fresh squeeze of lime and jalapeños for some freshness at the end.  

Oh, where do I even begin with Homiah? Five stars all the way! It's like they've managed to bottle the very soul of Southeast Asia in their array of spices and sauces. Every dish I cook gets an instant upgrade when I add a pinch or a pour of Homiah's offerings.

Their spices are so rich and aromatic that they practically transport you to a bustling street market in Bangkok or a tranquil Balinese beachside restaurant. The sauces? Ah-mazing! Just the right balance of sweet, spicy, tangy, and savory - a true symphony of flavors.

This stuff is great. I only bust it out when we have company because my kids don't appreciate it. But when I prepare it people are always asking for the recipe. There is no recipe, suckers! The Malaysian red curry is my favorite - you can add about twice as much meat and veg as the instructions call for.
