East Fork makes gorgeous dishware and pots for grown-ups with taste. I’ve been buying their mugs, bowls and platters ever since receiving a Mug as a birthday gift years ago. They hold up from multiple microwave and dishwasher runs, and are so satisfying to host with, hold on a cozy day, and to just plain look at.
My advice for first-timers is to try to shop in-person (annual pop-ups in Emeryville & LA; shops in Asheville, Atlanta, and Brooklyn) if you are picky about the exact markings and quality of these kitchen investment pieces. I have purchased Firsts and Seconds online and the seconds sometimes have really obvious flaws that are disappointing (see the photo of my Big Mug in the deep green color Night Swim). The firsts online seem to be better but of course you’re paying a premium.
To save a little coin: look out for the EF groups on Insta & FB, or keep your eyes peeled for their catalogs in the mail that sometimes have a 15% off coupon.
