Dr. Martens reviews assert the brand works: shoes deliver lasting durability and a timeless, versatile style but routinely require a tough break-in and can rub or blister initially. Buyers should expect exceptional longevity and iconic looks (strengths) yet plan for a stiff initial fit and variable leather quality over time (weaknesses).
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
If you have the persistence to work through the 'breaking them in' process, Dr. Martens will become a staple in your wardrobe, and they will be there forever because Docs are made to last.

God I love my Dr. Martens. They take a minute to break in (I recommend very thick socks and blister stick) but once they do, they're comfortable and substantial. My first pair lasted 6/7 years, and my current pairs have been going strong for several. They're timeless, and a great investment!

They can be hard to break in but I have had a pair of Doc Marten Chelsea boots for about 4 years now and they still look brand new after a lot of Midwestern winter days. Definitely high-quality products.
Dr. Martens shoes are almost indestructible. I have two pairs, one classic black boot and one classic laced shoe. They take some time to break in and might hurt a bit at the beginning but after a while they become very comfy. I use them almost every day.
There’s a reason DMs have been around this long: their look is iconic and transcends decades to appeal to young and old alike. I’ve had several pairs of boots and shoes and overall they hold up well. I have noticed that the quality has diminished over the years and my shoes don’t last as long as the used to: the tread wears down quicker, the leather feels more delicate and prone to scuffs/nicks.
My pull-on fur-lined Dr. Martens are my cold-weather go-to boot. I wear them with everything from dresses, leggings, and jeans. On rainy and snowy days alike. I waited too long for these to go on sale. I should have splurged and bought them much sooner. They are super comfortable. I wore them for an all-day trip into NYC doing all the touristy things and felt great the next day.

Docs are the type of shoes that you keep forever in your closet because they are so timeless! I love my Dr. Martens and will always have them in my shoe rotation. I've purchased three pairs to date and have had them for many, many years. Even if the shoes have been battered and tattered, they still manage to look so cool. The quality is definitely there with this brand and they have consistently been a trustworthy, good quality, and versatile shoe brand.

Dr. Martens have never failed me in terms of durability. My complaint from when I first started wearing them was that they are very bulky, but now they offer lighter and more comfortable options while maintaining their original style. My most recent purchase is their platform sandals and I wore them all summer.
Feedback
They do not offer half sizes, so it's really hard to online shop. I recommend going into a store if you can to try them on in person.

I recently got my iconic pair of Dr. Martens boots and they were quite the work to break into but now that I have eased into them, they're super comfortable and look super classy, I absolutely love wearing them on the daily, especially in winter.

I do wish they were easier to break into but luckily for me it wasn't as bad as it is for most people. But I suppose it's a part of the culture and experience.
