I am very happy with this product and now am using it full-time for all my laundry needs. Most importantly, I feel safe and confidant I am utilizing a non-toxic product and the fragrance smells fantastic and is naturally derived.
I ordered the starter set that included detergent, enzyme booster, a glass dispenser pump, and dryer balls ($40 + tax, free shipping). It's definitely a great deal compared to how much these items would cost individually from the website. Of course, on it's own $28 for 80 loads worth of laundry detergent is a high price (slightly less in the autoship bundle), comparable to Tide Free & Gentle which is roughly $16 for 80 loads (which I would likely stretch to way more). Regardless of the price I do think it's VERY CONVENIENT to 1)buy all laundry products together from the same place and 2)have confidence these products are sustainable/effective/ethical/not bad for my skin.
That being said, I don't really notice the scent from the detergent on my clothes which is a little disappointing, so maybe will add some of their essential oil droplets next time. I do think it's worth the cost to feel clean/smell nice! I also don't really like the flask, you have to pump it so many times to get the full amount of detergent needed for a large load and I would rather just pour from the container.
I'll probably continue to use Dirty Labs for the time being, it definitely adds a little luxury to doing laundry which I didn't know I needed but I enjoy it! And everything fits neatly into my little Ikea laundry gear basket which is great :)
This stuff works SO well on your stinkiest, sweatiest, workout gear. I washed our mountain biking shammies with this set and it took the funk out that I've struggled with getting rid of for years. I love how it smells and how concentrated it is. A little goes a long way. Measuring cup to show you really how much you need. No mess involved that you typically get with other liquid detergents.
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this. My son gets itchy from laundry detergent, but also plays hockey. He wanted fresher smelling clothes after I washed them....enter Dirty Labs Laundry Starter Kit. The pump is not the easiest to use, but I really like the refillable aspect of it. You barely need any detergent, and i throw the silicone cup right in the washing machine. His clothes smell fresh and clean, and he isn't itchy anymore! The kit came with 2 samples of dishwasher detergent, which also worked wonderfully!
The products are devastatingly good - I say devastating because they’re generally pretty pricey. I do feel like they have innovative formulations, so I do like to purchase when there’s a sale and justify it by saying I’m paying to support innovation.
The one product that particularly made me sad was the Liquid Dish Soap. I purchased to try this one out with low hopes, and was sadly proven very wrong. The dish soap is so good.
Not a dealbreaker but just a note - when your laundry is fully dry, the scent will fade. This actually doesn’t bother me at all since I like my clothes smelling neutral, but just a note for those who are expecting a fragrant pile of dry laundry.
I’m only docking one star purely because of the price point. Based on the marketing, I don’t think that it’s meant to be seen as a luxury brand, so the price point doesn’t seem fully justified. I understand it’s a small company, so they’re probably pricing their products this way to recoup their research costs, but I hope we can see some price decreases as they expand.
