Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • I really liked the idea initially and have had many laughs with my friends while playing, but it gets repetitive quite quickly.

  • CAH is fine. It can be fun. It can also be rather boring. Really depends on who you play with and sense of humor. Not for faint of heart. Lots of knock offs now days.

  • we've had this game for a while and it still has us crying tears of laughter with each new group of people we play with. so much fun. the kids version is also amazing

  • A slightly overplayed game that can work if it’s the right place at the right time, but certainly not too often, and certainly not with the wrong people.

  • The best game to play with friends as an adult!! It’s so funny and you can get really crazy with it, it has no limits. Laughs are 100% guaranteed.

  • I used to play this in high school all the time, and I still enjoy it. I don’t know how it’s still funny, but it is.

  • Dangerously genius game! Love that it is easy to transport and of you lose pieces/cards you can always buy more! Although it doesn't affect the game of you do! Very fun and funny to play at any get together!

  • This is one of those games that makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. I played with a very religious friend and even she thought it was funny (some cards were quite eye opening). We always buy a new box of cards every year at Christmas. It was a little awkward when my mum asked what a “Queef” was though.

  • I bought as a conversation starter/ get to know friends better. We used it at a party and it got to be a little awkward and to the point where we’d have to skip cards because they were pretty inappropriate. For a certain audience, for sure.

  • This is the funniest, most interesting game that has ever been created. The more people, the better, and the more unhinged the game gets, the more fun everyone has. It's especially fun to play late at night or when people aren't completely sober- you get some SUPER out of pocket responses then.

  • The games not for me. Just not something I enjoyed and not my kind of humour.

  • Not a new product. A fun game if you have never played it before. Pretty much a household item now, and most people are pretty over it. I wouldn't want to play it again and probably haven't played in over 8 years.

  • what a fun game!!! i’ve nearly pooped my pants several times !!!

  • My go to game when it comes to sleepovers, family night, or any type of get together!
