  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay

  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • Always fun to play with friends or in groups! Probably not best to play with grandparents.

  • Such a fun game to play, we bring this to parties with the friends. It even more hilarious after a few rounds of drinks.

  • We play this with adult cousins at every family event! So much fun, always have a stomach ache from laughing so hard!

  • I would've probably given this a different review when I first played it in high school and college. Now it just feels childish and boring, It gets unexciting quickly once you've played it a few times and seen most of the cards. There are workarounds like buying expansions packs, but then you'll just get used to those cards after a few plays too. It might be worth considering if no one in your group has ever played before and your sense of humor leans in this direction!

  • Such a fun game! I get so excited when I go to someone’s house or party and they suggest playing it. Definitely for a bit older crowd, teenager +, but always had everyone laughing throughout the whole game. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Makes for a hilarious game night! (Not for kids!) We had a game night with some friends, and some of the combinations is a bit dark humour, but we all still laughed until we couldn’t laugh anymore. We’ve purchased expansion packs as well, which I think is great that there is that option, as you start running into the same cards after a few rounds.

  • My 3 friends and I LOVE this game. It can be a clean game or a raunchy game, it all depends on the cards and how everyone is feeling at that moment. We always wind up laughing our heads off with this game. IT has become one of our favorite games to play!

  • Played this game with a group of people and laughed at the cards played Was a fun time.

  • I can’t imagine having a party and not playing this card game. It unites and helps creating friendly environment. Highly Recommend!

  • Such a great game to play with a group of friends. And so many expansion packs too. Highly recommend!

  • I have played this game at multiple social gatherings and it has been fun. This would not work for people who are more sensitive to satire, but my friends and I are cynical and a perfect audience for this game.

  • Fun game to play with family and friends! I love the way they have expansions so the fun never stops.

  • I would say Cards Against Humanity is fun, but you have to be around people who have the same humor as you, or it's not that fun. Compared to other games that have come out over the years, I would probably choose those instead of Cards Against Humanity.

  • Cards Against Humanity is a hilariously twisted and irreverent party game that never fails to bring out the laughter and shock in everyone. The game is simple yet brilliantly designed, making it an instant hit at gatherings and social events. Players take turns being the Card Czar, who draws a black card with a fill-in-the-blank statement or question. The other players then select one of their white cards, each containing a word or phrase, to complete the black card's prompt in the most outrageous or absurd way possible. The Card Czar then chooses the funniest or most fitting combination, and the player who submitted the winning white card gets a point. The humor in Cards Against Humanity is intentionally dark, politically incorrect, and sometimes downright offensive, so it's definitely not for the faint of heart or sensitive crowds. It's all about pushing boundaries and letting loose with friends who share a similar sense of humor. This game thrives on the spontaneous and often surprising combinations that arise from the various cards, making each round a riot of laughter and unexpected connections. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, for those who enjoy edgy humor and are looking to have a great time with friends, Cards Against Humanity is an absolute blast. Just be prepared for some seriously twisted laughs and moments you won't soon forget!

  • I have so many of these cards and expansion packs. I have the “biggest blackest box” to hold them all. My one annoyance is that at this point with l the expansion packs that I have, I have doubles of a lot of cards. I went through and organized it to make a smaller deck of no repeats and the funniest cards.

  • The go to game to kick off game night. It is fun with an edge and easy to pick up on. You also don't need to know the other players well to do well.
