Blue Apron reliably works as a meal-kit service: reviewers praise fresh, high-quality ingredients and well-written recipes that help users learn new techniques, but many find portions small, meals more time-consuming than advertised, and packaging excessive. Reviews of Blue Apron note strengths in taste, variety, and instructional recipe cards, balanced by complaints about packaging waste, labor intensity, and value for solo diners — useful for buyers who want culinary learning and convenience but dislike heavy prep or waste.

One of the first meal kits I tried. The meals are definitely higher end than other meal kits I've tried. They also are more complicated and took longer to make. Food was very good, but definitely was not something my young child was interested in. Also pricier than other kits.
I was never a Blue Apron customer, but my roommate was a huge fan. The food is amazing; however, you can't share it. We would always get the recipes (the best part of it), go to Target, and cook in bigger portions.

Pros: Easy to follow recipes. Quality ingredients. You can view Blue Apron recipes without subscribing. Cons: A lot of packaging. The servings are sort of small ( I love me some leftovers). Sometimes the meals can be a bit involved. Maybe not for picky eaters or large families.
Feedback
I would not use Blue Apron again, too much packaging and not worth the price.
I really loved the quality and taste of Blue Apron's meals. Everything was from scratch so I actually learned how to do new things in the kitchen, like make a roux or pickle onions. This was my favorite meal kit and I've tried them all.

I feel like they underestimated the cook and prep time for most recipes. Definitely add 15-20 minutes unless you are a chef. Meal kits just seem so environmentally unfriendly. From transportation to packaging it just seems wasteful.
Between this and Hello Fresh, I prefer Hello Fresh for the value and time. Blue Aprons recipes are a little more intricate. Hello Fresh seems more college / recent grad vibes, whereas Blue Apron is more my parents vibe.
My partner and I are absolutely obsessed. Blue Apron made us better cooks and we are now so comfortable and excited in the kitchen. Not to mention the convenience of saving an hour at the grocery store and the time spent thinking of what you want to make and finding a recipe!! The meals are delicious. I really can’t say enough great things.
They have a good variety of meals to choose from and pricing is reasonable. I wish more of the items were prepped to use.

food was actually really good and varied, but too expensive... now that I'm mostly working from home it makes no sense for me to be on this food-delivery subscriptions. If they were cheaper i would reconsider.

What a fun way to learn how to cook new recipes! I was introduced to may new ingredients that I now use in my own daily cooking. The quality of the food was amazing and the recipes were full of flavor. Recipe cards are very detailed and include images to help anyone new to cooking. Great for beginners and pros alike! Also a great way to cook with partner and have a fun evening together in the kitchen.

I always felt horrible throwing all of the packaging away. I saved the boxes for a local food bank but to deliver food in the quality desired, it takes a lot of insulation and freezer packs.

Fairly easy to follow recipes, however many of them can get quite involved. Good ingredients, sometimes exposing me to new tastes I've never tried.

Less packaging, wider variety of choices in recipes and ingredients. The portions are fairly small, meaning you do a lot of work just for one meal.
