Reviews mention

  • Inventive themed toy designs
  • Durable super chewer options
  • Responsive, helpful customer service
  • Thoughtful size customization options
  • Inconsistent toy durability for power chewers
  • Repetitive, sometimes upsetting treats
  • Rigid, duplicative theme customization
  • Nylon chews create sharp edges

Barkbox earns largely positive reviews for delightful themed unboxings, durable toys (especially Super Chewer for many) and responsive, accommodating customer service, so yes—the brand generally works and is good for keeping dogs engaged. Reviews also flag weaknesses: treats can be repetitive or upset sensitive stomachs, some toys fail fast for extreme chewers or pose tearable parts, customization/themes can feel rigid or duplicative, and auto‑renewal and shipping issues frustrate some users.

  • I didn't purchase a subscription or anything from this particular company and they do not have any returns right now because of the edible food but I did talk to Josh from customer service and he helped me subscription refunded and also still gave me a box thank you so much have a wonderful day

  • Terrible service!I never got my box or the blanket the was supposed to be free !Never got either you won’t get your order or the money back!!!Its a mega scam!!!!!

  • My golden retriever loves BarkBox. She looks forward to it every month and knows exactly what the box is!

  • Absolutely love the creativity and uniqueness of Barks themed boxes! Love the customization and that your are able to purchase add ons to your boxes. From one dog family to another bark is the way to go!

  • I’ve actually tested twice. The treats have been two thumbs up, but the quality of “toys” have been at best mediocre. Unfortunately, they fell apart.

  • Majority of the products are worth a single purchase but not a monthly subscription.

  • The treats are great, the toys are pretty good, the customer service is good at fixing mistakes but never stopped making the mistake itself; but the customization options for boxes and billing process is WAY too rigid. I don't like having my arm twisted when trying to cancel an auto-renewal I never wanted in the first place. Let me choose if or not I want to auto-renew; don't force it. If people want to continue the subscription they will tell you; I told them I didn't want to continue but they switched it back on when I had to have the box fixed for a 4th time in 6 months. That's the majority of why I won't be back. I have two dogs, and the 2 dog box is too much stuff and too much money. I asked FOUR times for a Super chewer box with one extra toy that was a soft toy to accommodate the different play styles of my two dogs. They got it wrong every single month and I was left with too many tough toys that neither dog enjoyed; the success rate was roughly one toy a month. For the price I realized I was better off going to a store and picking one toy for each dog (because I know what each of them likes) and one big bag of treats for both dogs. I got sick of talking to customer service trying to get the box fixed every month; the free stuff to make up for the errors was okay, but still not worth the hassle.

  • My dogs get so excited when this box arrives knowing there are yummy treats and fun toys inside. I love that you can customize your box online for different types of toys, and treats for pups with allergies! Plus every month you have the option to add extra toys for a discount.

  • They have horrendous customer service. When I first signed up I was offered a 10% discount to pay in full, the sales rep. Veronica was horrendously nasty to me and then offered a free box to make up for it. They claim in February they attempted to charge me in full (my request to pay in full was in march on the same day I signed up) and they claim my card was declined (yet they somehow charged that same card in February for my add ons and every month after. Then the kicker they said it was my fault that I should have known they said it was declined in February to pay in full even though Veronica confirmed to me that I was being given the 10% discount for paying in full… I will NEVER use the service again. Also I was supposed to be getting monthly meal topper add on and received it TWICE but was charged every month since February for it.

  • My pups loved their Barkbox every month. High quality toys and treats I would definitely recommend

  • It’s such a fun concept, and my dogs were so jazzed every time it arrived. Only problem—even with the toughest toys, they destroyed them super fast. Definitely recommend for dogs that don’t have a super high drive and just want to tear things up immediately!

  • I absolutely loved Barkbox. My pup was always so excited to receive a new box! However, my sweet Ozzie is just the chewiest chewer of all time and I was really bummed that the toys didn’t last just a smidge longer.

  • We've had a Barkbox subscription for our two goldens for a little over 3 years. Over that time we've tailored the boxes to fit our needs better, but in general it feels quantity is valued over quality. We had to eventually remove the treats from the boxes because we amassed a stockpile of them even during the training years. Toys seem to fall into 2 different categories, either 1). stuffed / squeaky / fluffy 2). tough / hard / durable for active chewers There's not really a middle ground, which we feel would be better for our dogs. There's usually 1-2 toys in each box that become favorites, and the others go into the toy bin without being touched. Their stuffed toys get shredded pretty quickly (which just cover the house in fuzz) so we switched to the super chewer which the pups engage with less, but don't leave a mess.

  • I was not happy with my experience with Barkbox. The editable items that was being received were old and moldy the majority of the time. The toys were cheaply made. Customer service was very friendly each time I called them. They would send me replacements for the moldy items but the replacements would also be old and moldy. I did not feel it was safe to give my fur babies the treats.

  • Great little gift for my Dog Otis. He will bark when the mailman comes and kind a knows when it’s his gift time. Like Christmas morning for him once a month.

  • Not worth it! These bark boxes are a great idea however if you have a huge Labrador like I do then he rips the toys to pieces within 5 minutes of me giving them to him. I also reached out to customer service about the issue, and they were super rude and not easy to deal with. I would recommend not wasting your time and money with this brand.

  • My friend has this for her dog and she's more excited about her dogs box than her own monthly subscriptions. Seriously cute themes and toys that the dog absolutely lovesss

  • I thought the toys were of great quality. They did mix up sending an item my dog was marked for having an allergy to but fixed that once I contacted them. It's only ok because I feel like this is a lot of stuff too often.
