Reviews mention

  • Chic, minimalist aesthetic design
  • Soft, matte tactile finish
  • Portable, travel-friendly gear
  • Comfortable, adjustable bangles
  • Limited, lightweight size range
  • Occasional itchy velcro closure
  • Inconsistent fit for small wrists
  • Bunching discomfort during sweat

Bala earns largely positive reviews for stylish, well-made workout accessories that make low‑impact routines, walks, and at‑home sessions feel more engaging and effective, with standouts like Bala Bangles, Bars, the Power Ring, and Beam praised for comfort, soft matte texture, and easy travel/storage. Reviews also flag real drawbacks: limited weight ranges (mostly light), occasional discomfort or slippage and itchy Velcro during intense or sweaty use, sizing issues for small wrists, and mixed durability on stitching/Velcro—making them better for gentle resistance than heavy strength training.

  • I borrowed a friend's Bala bands for a run recently. No friction or rubbing like other bands I've used and it also looks kinda cool when you're wearing them!

  • I love this brand! The look and feel is so sleek and pretty. I have the wrist weight and 2lb hand held weights. Both times I hesitated before purchase because of the price, but they are so nice looking I end up using them more than I would have a normal weight.

Lower price option would be great.

  • I liked it so much I bought the two and three pound weights. I am really into the soft touch material.

The elastic on the wristbands could be tigher on my small wrist.

  • I received a starter pack of Bala pieces as a gift that includes the bangles, a 10lb power ring, and 3lb bala bars and I absolutely love the set. They are definitely not meant for heavy lifting, muscle building workouts, but they are a great addition to pilates or barre style at-home workouts. All of bala's pieces are so beautiful and they make me excited to add some extra resistance to my workouts. However, they are really expensive pieces for how low weight they are, and you can definitely find less expensive alternatives if you're willing to sacrifice the aesthetic and brand name. I don't know if I would shell out the money on these myself, so I'm really glad I got them as a gift.

    Price point.

  • Wanted to love the bangles but I found them to be very scratchy. Something in how the Velcro rests on the skin creates a friction that is felt with each movement. I sold them sadly as they just didn’t feel comfortable no matter what I did to adjust them.

  • I use the bangles in all of my heated yoga sculpt classes and they are great. Great quality and really help me level up any workout. I also have the hand weights and the bar and they are awesome. Highly recommend!!

  • I have some of their weights, but I got them on sale at TJMaxx. They're very well designed but I would never pay full price for them.

  • super expensive for what its worth. i was able to snatch up some 'dumbbells' at marshalls once for $13 cause the box was damaged. i had no clue about this brand but i liked how simple and minimal they looked, and did the job. its good quality (for the dumbbells at least), but i have some other brand's ankle weights that can go up to 10 lbs each (customizable by 2 lb intervals) and i bought the pair for like $20, when bala ankle weights are like $50+ and only go up to 2 lbs each.. and im not even sure if you can toggle between the weight either. great look, but crazy prices

  • Bala bands are so soft and comfortable to wear to add an extra difficulty level to my standard workouts. I have purchased these for friends as gifts and they all report that they are great.

  • I wish they came in more weight sizes. They can also slip off during more high-intensity workouts.

  • These products are a favorite among fitness junkies for a reason! I've had my bala bangles for years, and they are great to use for walks and incoporate into low-impact workouts. I also find that they are fairly easy to wipe down and clean. I've gifted them on multiple ocassions.

  • I now own the 1lb and 2lb Bala Bangles and am obsessed with the simple design. Investing in these products has improved my pilates sequences.

  • Love wearing my bala bangles, they’re extremely chic and easy to put on while running errands.

  • Sleek when not in use, but when the 2lb bangles are worn on the ankles, the weights end up wonkily spread out.

  • Great for your at home gym. products that look good and feel good to hold

seems wrong (cost wise, labor wise, fuel wise) to get straight up weights shipped/delivered. Maybe offer a pickup option, at least in cities?

  • I love how these look, unfortunately I find them to be a bit itchy on my ankles, but they work perfect on my wrists. Wash them regularly to avoid scent buildup.

  • Very attractive looking weights. I like the 1lb wrist weights but they don’t serve much of a purpose because the weight is so small. I tried the 2lb weights but because they were larger they were 1) very uncomfortable esp. on the wrist bone and 2) the Velcro constantly came undone. I liked how easily they can be packed for traveling and how they came with a travel case.

Make the weights less hard and more flexible. Lower the price point.
